I have a glut of eggs, flour and sugar, and I start my new position next week. So my flat is smelling like cake and all I have to worry about is my lunch.

I want to say i'm happy, but i'm not, I'd say how i feel is Content, i didnt do so great at uni this year, but i get to repeat it, and i finally have all my results from the year, so thats that miserable year gone, I decided i should start writing a blog, talking about my thoughts/experiences, and it seems oddly cathartic.... maybe the rain is helping that...

something about today seems right, and i cant place why...

I took the cake I baked this morning to work, it went down well, though when people who hadn't tried it found out it had lemongrass in they gave me funny looks XD

What's wrong with lemongrass? Lemongrass is awesome! Sure you're more likely to see it in Thai food or the nose of a Califonia Sauvignon Blanc, but cake can be inclusive too. Tell them to bake their own fucking cakes if they've got a problem with lemongrass.

So the other day I was introduced by a friend to a new-ish customizable dress shoe company and I've spent half the day assembling dream shoes. They're a couple hundred bucks a pop, which is reasonable in my fevered brain (I've got a thing for shoes. Not in any sexual way, I just like shoes way too much) but a) I could really get myself into trouble on a site like that, because while a couple hundred bucks isn't unreasonable for a good pair of shoes, going apeshit and designing and then buying shoes for every possible occasion and outfit would get vurry spendy indeed, and b) my last experience with online customization (a suit) turned out a product that was so far from my proper fit that it made me question if the tailors were working to the same species template.

But still, having shoes exactly the way I want them....

Ahem. Link, please? (I have strangely shaped feet, so I've always been intrigued by getting shoes custom made... they'd be so COMFY! but they could look good, too...)

How cool! I was sweating at the store today, trying on a dozen pairs of running shoes and none of them fit the way I wanted to. :( It's always a hassle to buy them, which is why my current shoes look like I salvaged them from Chernobyl cos I haven't found a replacement pair. :bigfrown: Custom running shoes would be amazing... and expensive...

Iain's link is for men's shoes only, but they sure are gorgeous. Hmmmm... if I found a women's source and bought myself, say, a couple pairs a year, one for winter, one for summer... that'd be a justifiable expense, surely? They'd last much longer because I wouldn't be stretching them out in weird places... really, it's financially foolish not to buy custom-made shoes...

I was able to sleep a SOLID four hours the other evening after about three nights of very little sleep. That made me quite happy. I also found these little lemon cookies at Trader Joe's and they make me.. So.. Happy. :)

It's the last day of the semester, and one of my classes got me a (very inexpensive) shaved ice maker. Ethical gray zone, but as it came from the whole class, I'd have to reject the whole class....

So, you're saying you have a shaved ice maker? I think @Wreybies would like one of those, based on a recent post he made. Congrats on the last day and the gift :)
