The Littoral zone is the area between mean high water and mean low water - you don't find many soldiers there. May be we should say Marines
I just want to interject and say that I hope @matwoolf never changes his avatar, because it adds that little extra something to his posts. @big soft moose , same goes for yours. In the spirit of the Happiness Thread, both your avatars make me smile every time I see them.
It is a neat word, isn't it? If you want, you can start a thread like that in Word Mechanics. Or, if it's just for the joy of words for words' sake, start one in the Lounge. Why not? It'd be jolly. (What I want to know is, what did the city of Omaha, Nebraska, ever do to get a warship named after it? Or a D-Day landing beach, for that matter? Go, Jayhawks! ) *Runs and hides from angry Nebraskans.*
I read the article in the link, and that's interesting. From what I learned in school, I would have thought the Monitor and the Merrimac were the only ironclads either side had in the American Civil War. But no, that's not true at all. I learned something new today.
I've finally got my new dishwasher installed. I've run the preliminary tests. Shall I run a load of dirty dishes in it? Shall I? Shall I?
It was a good game. I was rooting for the Eagles. After all, there was the taint of ball inflation despite the Seahawks bad play call when they played the Patriots. Nonetheless, how could I not root for the Eagles?
Just a happy random memory. What a woman she was, too bad it was only an afternoon. Her deep rust hair cascading around her soft rounded features, and her black framed glasses complimented them so well. I can remember how plush and warm she felt, taking in her pale cream flesh. Even the way her natural odors and flavors were intoxicating. Her eyes and the way they looked at me, a mix of an aloof aggressive sensuality. (The more in depth details I will keep to myself.)
Honestly I'm not much of a football fan myself, but for my dad and extended family who were born and raised in South Philly this is the vindication they've been waiting a lifetime for. Now let's get another World Series.
Is there anything left of South Philly this morning, or did they burn it all down? Same thing happened with us when the Red Sox finally broke through in 2004... cars on fire, paddy wagons full of drunks, that poor girl who got killed by a rubber riot bullet.
