Much time has passed since the last time I visited this lovely site. I'm also an uncle now.

Yay! My first beta is going so well! I was worried, but with three reviews in, it's been positive feedback so far, some great suggestions and a couple of SPAG catches that prove you can never trust yourself to catch every comma or homophone, regardless of your acumen. (And how embarrassing if left for an agency intern to find, right?) So far, so good though. I'm stoked! If anyone else is interested in a short read for my picture book, I have a thread going under Collaborations.

The harvest moon will be out tonight!

A nightly drive to nowhere under said moon is called for. :superagree:

A little chocolate a day keeps hunger pains away. Sorta. Not really, but it tastes good enough to make some bullshit excuse like I did. :superagree:

TBH, while I do try and keep healthy and exercise and all that, I always remember the words of a texting dog in a Tumblr post: "I'd rather be fat and dead than thin and unhappy!"

Had a fairly well known pornstar come into the restauarant last night. Wish I'd known beforehand... I'd have given her a better table.

Well, there's your novel opening right there.

    I particularly like the 'fairly'.

I said "fairly" because I didn't know who she was but some of my servers did. Then I looked her up and saw she'd done a bunch of "work" with plenty of stars I would have recognized.

Anywho... what do the rest of you do at work all day?

After a rocky start, the new semester is underway, as is my diet. I haven't made much progress, but I do weight a little over a kilo less than I did on this date last year. I'd like to be losing weight overall, but at least I'm holding the line more or less.

My new mouse arrived, and I followed a friend's advice and actually customized its functions using its accompanying software rather than only using my computer's settings.

    OMG what a difference!

I even set one of the buttons to mute my speakers. That's my favorite function so far, I think.

ETA: The speaker mute button also controls "Previous" and "Next" on Spotify, which wasn't mentioned in the setup guide. Ooh, this is gonna be fun!!!

Working at my desk: 100% improved!

Got to go see Chevelle, Three Days Grace, and Breaking Benjanin last night. Pretty good show, but Chevelle did a phenomenal job as the second act. Still as great as when I saw them ten years ago.

The other day, my mum had her first client who had found her on Google (presumably the others came through word-of-mouth). Turns out she couldn't help her, but today, the client delivered a bunch of roses and a lovely card saying that she hopes Mum gets good karma (tenfold, no less) and that she had restored the client's faith in humanity. What a lovely woman!
