Found a blues player on YouTube and as part of my outside the house wanderings I'm gonna pick up an iTunes gift card so I can get that goodness in my ears all the time. Also, I don't have anything on my schedule today after 1 so I'm.... I'm gonna be a bum. Maybe... I think I should attempt laundry, or just leave that for tomorrow.
I wrote my thesis statement for this dissertation and I'm extremely happy with it. Proving it, of course, is a much larger animal, but I'll enjoy the little things. Taking on the titan of an extended length essay is much easier in my mind now that I have a solid direction to start and research backing.
I'll be teaching thesis statements (again) in a few weeks. On a much simpler level, I'm sure, than yours, but baby steps...
I didn't learn how to do them properly in high school and it really screwed me up for a while on my first go at college years ago. That's important work you're doing.
Very little can be proved. At best, offer compelling evidence that can withstand an equally compelling counterfactual. And standup to accusations of cherry-picking. Not sure of your field... MFA? Mine was history, and very few arguments could survive a counterfactual.
Mine if English. Believe it or not, this paper is actually just for a BA. The school I'm at actually does basically the same for a BA as an MFA in having a large dissertation style argument paper for a couple of months at the end of the degree. I'm sure the grading is wildly different, but I find no reason not to take it entirely seriously on both accounts. I'll be doing an MFA here in English emphasizing Gothic Literature directly after this BA is done, which I'm very excited for. But it will end much the same with a difficult paper. I'm actually rather chipper about the whole ordeal though. I can appreciate a challenge.
Thanks Due to auto insurance reform in my state, the premium on my PL/PD-only policy on my 17-year-old Taurus went from $135 a month to $82.
In just over three weeks my youngest sister is stepping on a plane and coming out for a visit. I haven’t seen her in almost a year.
Cold Case Files is up on Netflix now and while that sounds like a strange thing to be happy about, my dad and I used to watch it along with Forensic Files and City Confidential back in the day. He'd either be making dinner or he'd be grading papers (he teaches English classes as well as Speech/Communication classes) and we'd try to guess the killer, or make other kind of commentary. We also watched Star Trek together, so I did have somewhat of a normal television upbringing.
The roller blade journey of frustration has ended. Today, I finally got some blades that fit! Although, it was delivered to the wrong house and I had to send my boyfriend over to grab them like some porch pirate.
Just finished a new short story in less than a week. Yay! I've gone through it once to clean it up. I'm hoping by the end of the weekend I'm ready to submit this baby and become literary famous.
Yay! I wish we could be rollerblade buddies lol. Rollerblading with the doggo is no good (she gets tired not even half a mile in)
You've made me realize that I have a very good pair of rollerblades in my closet. And the park path near my house is surfaced with something not rough enough to break an ankle on, but definitely more in the mountain-bike territory than rollerblades.
My sister in law sent a video of my brother and my niece shouting "I love you" back and forth while they were in separate rooms. My niece was more, "I la oo" because she's working on words, but her enthusiasm behind it is incredibly enchanting.
I'm on a training course for the whole of next week. That means I can sleep a bit longer each morning, get a free lunch, teas or coffee etc. What's not to like
Sorry to hear that Earp, but I got to turn my aircon off for the first time in months. 0100 and 68f here. Last week is was more like 82.
Just noticed I posted this in the Happiness Thread. Sorry. ETA - No, I didn't. Not sorry. Iain replied in the Happiness Thread. Didn't know you could do that. Please don't confuse an old man.
So a month into it, the school year and 7th grade is going well for my goddaughter. When we talk on the phone the spring is back in her voice. Me happy.
