I definitely will! And I'm going to take tons of pictures, so you all be prepared. It's not necessarily a vacation (er... it's a working vacation), so I have to spend roughly six hours per day doing interviews and writing articles and producing radio pieces, but the other eighteen, I am allowed to visit the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Paris Underground (!!!! ), and of course take advantage of the lower alcohol age limit. I'm sooo excited.
Have fun, Merc In my own news: I've finally finished for the night!!! Just the 14-hour day today. A 12-hour day yesterday as well. Seriously tired this evening.
I was feeling really uncomfortable and sore all day today, it is currently 28.9 Celsius here, 84 Fahrenheit, so we have literally gone from seriously cold, to stinking hot in a couple of days. So I logged in here and saw Chimmy had posted in the not happy thread and thought I'd see what was wrong... turns out she posted happiness in there and it made me laugh. Certainly cheered me up I quoted it below Plus, it was really nice to log in here this afternoon and see the comments that were left on my blog, by Cogito, wordwizard, Gigi and Chimmy. The kindness in their comments was very touching.
Haha. I saw that too but wasn't sure if she was being sarcastic. I'm happy to have a best friend who I can share my humiliations with, and who will go w/me to the store and then make Jello w/me at 11 p.m. to try to make me smile again.
It is 53 degrees this morning and feeling fabulous...my family are a bunch a sissies....they want me to turn on the heater...NOT happening!!!
I had my first ever match as a manager today. It went pretty well: we won 3-2 after going 1-0 and 2-1 down. The referee was appalling and got the full force of my displeasure inside five minutes when he awarded a penalty against us after their lad got the slightest tap on the ankle from our right-back. We pulled it back (Captain Marvel himself firing in from 20 yards) to go in at half-time 1-1. In the second half, they scored a wonder goal, before we scored a freakish cross-shot through one of my substitutes. Then drama: we were awarded a penalty which was no more a penalty than theirs. Our midfield magician stepped up to blast it home. A rear-guard action in the last 20 minutes set up a brilliant first win.
YES!!! I am happy because it is a very nice and very cool 56 degrees outside and it's getting cooler. Okay...now this is where it should be posted.
It's 58 right now so that would be....14.44 celsius, I believe. I have never never been really good with that sort of thing.
Oh Sherie...glad I could cheer you. I actually caught that blooper just a little bit ago. I guess if I could be remembered around here for anything at all it would be that I made me people smile and feel better about their day. I know that I am sorta forlorn at times but I really do have a happier heart than it shows. So, *deep breath* I said all of that to say, seeing Tori happy, made me happy.
Listening to kick*ss string music makes me happy. Thanks, Hedge, for recommending that string quartet to me! Suddenly, I have the urge to learn how to play all my favorite songs on my viola...
35 weeks!!!! wooohoooo! And even happier because it means that sometime in the next 5 weeks I'll go into labour and no longer be as uncomfortable as I am now.
Between the Oakland Raiders triumph over one of the best teams in the NFL today, and the fact that the Toronto Maple Leafs cannot possibly lose for another week (because they don't play), I am happy.
Out of curiousity, does this mean that the Raiders are the better team that you cheer for (as compared to the Leafs)?
There needs to be a sports thread, if only so I can keep rants about the Leafs in there. Short answer: Yes, the Raiders are better right now. Long answer: They just might be, but I'm not entirely convinced yet. Their record is 2-4 after 6 games, putting them on pace for between 5 or 6 wins, and right now they have a .333 win %. I think this is pretty consistent with my expectations and how they look to me- they are capable of putting up wretched stinkers like last week, but then they can compete with, and even defeat quality opponents any given week as well. Based on their development, I see them getting anywhere between 4 and 7 wins this season. In 7 games, the Leafs are 0-6-1, which is, 0 wins, 6 regulation losses and 1 overtime loss. In the NHL, 2 points are awarded for any win, 1 point is awarded for an overtime loss, and 0 points are awarded for losing in regulation. The Leafs actually have a .000 win % right now, and a jaw dropping point % of .071, putting them on pace for approx. 12 points out of a possible 164 this year. On the face of it, the Leafs are not only worse than the Raiders, they are the single worst team in the history of major North American professional sports leagues. The immediate reaction when seeing numbers like this is to think, correctly, that they are unsustainable. To reach this point, the Leafs have played 424 minutes of hockey, and held a lead for 6 of them. The amount of time they've held a lead is 9x less than the amount of time by which they've trailed by 3 goals or more. However, to judge the whole season by their showing so far would be like judging an NFL team by their performance after 6 quarters- 6 quarters in which they suffered from every bad break imaginable. It's also worth mentioning that their best goaltender, and best forward are both out injured right now. I would expect the Leafs to put up anywhere between 70 and 80 points this year, which means in the end they should be about as good (or bad) as the Raiders. Despite how hilariously terrible their start has been, they're much better than they've shown so far in my opinion- which is to say, not the single worst team in the history of North American professional sports. In conclusion, the Raiders win because of the special teams Pigeon, and I should probably pursue a career in sports writing and get it over with already. Writing this post made me happy.
Agreen, you'd probably make a good sports writer, however you'd have a lot of competition in that market. Ash, I'm sure you have many secret admirers.
