Mythai "I must say Mythai humans sure are stupid if they put so much value in indigestible paper." Mythai coughed as she held back a laugh. "Yes, it is an interesting system..." she said. "The want for these marks have destroyed and killed countless humans over the years. But used in the right way, these marks can help us and get that fruit..." With a thought in mind, she called after the man like Seven had. "If you do have information regarding the fruit Sir, we'll gladly give a donation to your nice Apothecary shop."
Adam eagerly peeked out of the room and at Mythai. "A donation...you say?" He asked much more pleasantly. He licked his lips and came back into the shop pushing a donation jar towards her. He tapped it's edge as a signal he wasn't giving out any information without a price.
"Yes tell us what you know human, and we'll give you some of our paper. But please be quick about it we are busy." Seven responded sharply. She was begging to loose her patients, and had a good mind to remind this fleshling just how frail he really was.
Mythai Mythai gave the man a hard stare. Was he trying to push their buttons? Apparently yes. With a sigh, she put one mark into the jar. She didn't feel awfully generous today. "I'll give you one mark for every piece of information you give us on where to find this fruit, no more, no less." Mythai crossed her arms. "And don't you be lying because my friend here has a lie detector in her system." Mythai grinned as she threw a little white lie out there herself. She didn't mind playing games to get what they needed.
Adam raised an annoyed eyebrow at the jar then at Mythai. Finally he sighed and pointed to the street. "Old lady May owns a fruit stand just down the street there. You'll find what you want there. Now unless you're looking to buy some beauty potions or the like, I believe our business is done."
Seven strolled out side to see Xin dragging Edo away somewhere. She stared at them for a moment scratching her head. Something, something within her began to bug her. a feeling that was half want half annoyance rose inside her. One that she couldn't logically explain. "Why does the sight of them make me feel?" Seven said confused. She pushed the thought aside and went to the fruit stand. "hello I'm looking for Elbesh fruit do you have any." She couldn't help but stare after the two even as she spoke, frowning to her self.
"hello I'm looking for Elbesh fruit do you have any." "Aye. I've got some for a good price. Just 3 marks." Old Lady May replied. She reached down and picked up a purple colored fruit. Humans from earth would recognize it as eggplant. "How many you want?" Then she followed Seven's gaze. "Aye, strange ones they are. Going on about being together...ah...so young. The lass seems to think she's in love, though the young man seemed to protest." She adjusted her glasses. "Ah well...the way of love is funny thing. So how many would you like?
Seven wasn't even thinking about the egg plant at this point. She was so disrtacted she half hazardly gave the woman all 99 marks and didn't even think to grab the egg plant. "Pardon me a moment..." She said camly still looking off in their direction. Then she stormned off after them. Upon reaching Edo she quiet boorishly butted between him and Xin. "Parden me Xin, but I need Edo for a moment." She then picked him up like one would lift a heavy sack of meat and, strolled off with him over her shoulder back towards the fruit stand ignoring any protests he may have. After setting him down (Right beside her of course) she smiled looking satisfied as if she had just solved the problem and everything would be right again. "so! what were you saying about the egg plant?" She said as if nothing happened.
Mythai Mythai saw Seven run out, but she decided to stick around the shop awhile longer. She pulled out twenty more marks and dropped them into the donation jar. "I trust that your information is true," Mythai said to the man, a small grin still on her face. "Thank you for your time and for furthering your work of medicine to these townspeople. Keep doing what you do." With that said, she nodded and walked out the door. She had no need of a 'thank you'. The streets were crowded as she followed in Seven's wake. Due to the high amount of people, her germophobia began to kick in. Mythai kept her hands close to her sides, trying to make herself as small as possible so to not touch shoulders. She could see the fruit stand in sight, she was so close...when she tripped on her own two feet. Before she could stop herself, she landed on the ground, getting a mouth full of kicked up dust. Mythai's eyes widened. This couldn't be happening! She jumped up in a hurry, spitting out the fowl substance. "Ew...ew...ew...!" She said, shuddering and patting at her clothes.
"So! what were you saying about the egg plant?" She said as if nothing happened. Lady May blinked at Seven cleaned off her glasses then blinked again. Finally she threw her hands up in the air and handed Seven the whole crate of Elbesh along with 65 marks in change. "Take it dearie. I've no desire to get in between two love sick birds. Not good for my health you see. Now...go along." She said shooing her away, a hint of fear shone in her eyes. "And don't you kids be making any trouble, you hear? The constable will get you and he's never far away.
Eudoxia Level 2 Point Amount 130 Eudoxia was still being dragged by Xin back to the cafe. He looked at her confused why she had no concern for the plant that they were supposed to be retrieving/ His purple eyes set on Xin and he accepted he would probably just go wherever she was taking him. Or that was until he was gruesomely ripped from her hand and lifted up into the air, he had no idea what was going on, because he never looked down. Once he was put down, he noticed he was near Seven, he smiled and waved at her as it was nice to see her. But he knew that Xin would have something to say about Seven just snatching him up, or she would at least feel bad. While looking back at Xin, he signaled her to join the three of them. He rubbed through Seven's hair and looked back at Xin. He then looked at the old woman he once previously saw, "Oh hello, Mrs. Elbesh. No need to fear us." he said politely
Xin: Level: 2 Xin couldn't help it. Her jaw dropped in complete shock at the way Seven was behaving. Then here eyes narrowed as something began to irk her. She may not necessarilly like Edo in the way that he may think, but she would always rise to competition. Reactivating. Scanning parameters . . . the nanobots bleeped and Xin blinked when a green light shone across her eyes, focusing on Seven. Then it turned red. Enemy located. Oxygen diverting to movement speed. Xin didn't quite know what was going on, but suddenly her hand seeme dot be moving of its own accord to the hilt of her sword, and she resisted it before she touched the thing. It was better not to look for conflict where there would otherwise be none. Resistance detected. Fragmentation pulse activating. the nanobots bleeped, and Xin gasped as something like a shockwave passed through her body. All at once, one of the six bots hovering near Edo beeped and turned red, turning towards Seven. Oh no . . . what on earth? "Duck!" she yelled.
Eudoxia Level 2 Point Amount: 130 Eudoxia saw as one of his MicroBots flew out of his pocket. He was pretty sure he didn't turn it on, and there was no threat near. He thought to himself, "Damn it's probably broken from combat, and actin' up." He then cautiously tried to grab it, knowing its potential danger. Resistance detected. Fragmentation pulse activating. "Duck!" He heard Xin yell, he noticed the MicroBot had its sights set on Seven and was detecting her as a threat. He was appalled, his inventions never did anything of the such. Something that was just a flat out malfunction. He put his hand on top of Seven and Myth's head and plunged them down. Since Seven was next to Myth it would have hit them both. The laser hit the ground, as it was at a down angle, since he was pushing them down, he didn't have much place to go. So, his laser scratched his back at a negative slope. He then pulled out his tablet and attempted to turn of his MicroBot.
"Listen here, townfolk. We are Jumpers and we're train professionals, let us handle this. We have to let Zalligar live, for goddarn good reasons, but we'll, uh, take care of the babies for you." The babies that don't really exist, but they don't need o know that... Adwaita turned to Aren. "Right, Aren?" "Oh ho! Professionals from another world want to handle our problems? On top of that...they want to let that beast continue to live? Don't tell me your reason is those tree-hugging butterflies. We have as much a right to those jungles as they do. Our people don't have enough room here in this city...we have to expand. On top of that over a quarter of our people are without work. They can't feed their families." Carl threw his hands in the air reprimanding the 3 jumpers who would stand in their way. "Would you deny us our right to that salt depot? The very thing that could save our city. I say NO!" He cried throwing a fist in the air. "Away with you off worlders. That snake and its children are ours! We will destroy them!" The crowd roared and over a dozen men stepped forward volunteering themselves to help kill Zalligar. Mason looked at Adwaita and Aren. "This looks bad. We should hurry back to the others. Maybe we can reach Zalligar and the artifact before they do."
Adwaita Adwaita scowled at Carl, not wanting to admit defeat. Then she loked away from him and addressed the crowd directly. "All of you, listen. I am sorry to hear about your poor situation, but this is not the way. Like I said, the Jumpers have good reason to keep that snake thing alive. Not just because of the Whisps, but also because we need something that it is guarding." Actually, something that's in it's belly, but I can't say that either. She decided to dramatize the situation a little more. "Listen up, angry mob. If you interfere, you'll be messing with the delicate natural balance of your planet. You will throw an ecosystem out of whack and there wil be all kinds of dreadful repercussions. Do you want that? I think not. So I say leave the situation to professionals with all the details, like us. We wil handle everything, okay? If we can't...then I guess you guys can go in and do your duty." Adwaita finished and turned to Mason. "You are no use at all, y'know that?" She poked his chest lightly. "Next time, I hope I get paired up with someone who will speak up for me. Anyway, I guess we gotta go find the others. Lead the way, bub."
Aren "This looks bad. We should hurry back to the others. Maybe we can reach Zalligar and the artifact before they do." "Hold on, lemme try and talk em down..." Aren said, clearing his throat. "People of this fine village!" he stared. "You know something about salt? Did you know, and I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade--if you have those here,-- but it's not really worth anything in galactic trade. There are entire planets out there made of salt, literally. Every planet in the universe, pretty much, has salt on it. It's not a hot commodity." he said with a shrug. If this worked, he would be a happy man. And there were definite advantages to having learned how to help his brothers con people as a kid. "But, your planet does have something that everyone, all across the galaxy wants, and is willing to pay A LOT for!" "What are you talking about?" Mason whispered in a concerned tone. "Just roll with it," Aren replied with a wink. Then turning his attention back to the people said, "Tin...unobtainium...isinium...nium," he bull crapped like a champ. "This planet is practically made of the stuff. In fact, about an hour south of this very village, next to a well known landmark, there is a vast deposit of Tin- that stuff! We detected it when we arrived! I'm sure that it would be of much more value to you than some smelly old salt!" he exclaimed. "So, tell you what... Give me a few days to survey the area, perform a full ecological impact report, and cost/profit analysis, as a prospectus of future gains, and then we all meet back here in say, a week! Then, I present my findings, then you guys can decide whether or not you want to go off, and kill some big dumb snake, or start mining that Tin and getting rich! You all wanna get rich right!?" he shouted, tossing his hands in the air, expecting a unanimous and resounding yes.
Instead of a resounding yes, Aren was met by complete silence. Then the people began to murmur among themselves. "Is he telling the truth?" One person finally spoke up asking Carl. "Is there really a deposit of Tin-ium nearby? "Sounds like he talking about old man Dekker's place. Nothing but a wasteland out there." Someone else popped up. Carl raised his hands to quiet the crowd, "I don't know anything about Tin-ium...and I'm reluctant to believe off-worlders who don't want us to kill the mountain snake in the first place." "I say we give him a chance to prove himself." Someone from the crowd yelled. "Yeah, it's better than going up against that thing and possibly getting eaten." "What about expanding!?" Carl protested. "We can't expand without marks. And if we don't have to kill that thing and it's babies to get it...I say go for it!" Carl crossed his arms listening to the arguments. He seemed upset by the turn this rally had taken. Finally he sighed. "Fine then, Jumper. Bring us back proof of this expensive Tin-ium you were talking about, and we'll consider going after that instead of the salt mines. You have 5 days. If you don't bring proof bad...we're going after that mountain snake. And we're going to kill it." "Great job, Aren." Mason said quietly as they walked away. "You bought us a few days to get to Zalligar before they do." He sighed. "But they're still going to kill it and expand into the Whisp's territory when we don't return. It's sad...but I guess it was inevitable."
"Jeez Edo control you bot's will you?" Seven said frowning. She then carried the fruits towards the apothacy shop, "We got to turn this into juice right? well let's get it over with, you comeing Edo?" She waved at the old lady and went inside the store. She trotted up to the man, "I want all this turned into juice I can carry okay?"
"I want all this turned into juice I can carry okay?" Seven demanded. Adam sighed. "You again, huh?" He looked over the Elbesh. "To turn this all into juice would take about 15 minutes, and 35 marks." He smiled.
"If you can do it in ten I'll give you 40" Seven replied, "Now be swift I am a busy person." She smiled to herself, it was quite fun to be able to get people to do things with simple paper. And pretending she was someone important was even more fun.
Xin: Level: 2 "Eudo! Are you okay? I'm so sorry I don't know what happened!" Xin gasped, pulling Eudo up and biting her lower lip at the sight of the wound along his back. "You okay Mythai?" she asked, helping Myth up as well. The bot had dropped to the ground now, suspiciously turned off, "I don't know what the heck happened, the nanobots turned on and... it was like an earthquake hit or something." Xin glared after Seven as the android called for Eudo to follow. "You are not going anywhere buster!" she quickly hissed into the boy's ear, draping one of his arms over her shoulder. "Could you check his spine? I'm worried it may have burned through more than just skin." she asked Myth.
"If you can do it in ten I'll give you 40" Seven replied, "Now be swift I am a busy person." Adam's eyes lit up at the prospect of even more marks. He grabbed the crate and went into the back room. 9 minutes later he returned with 2 jars of Elbesh juice. "That'll be 40 marks." He said, setting the jars on the counter. "That's alot of ceremonial wedding drink. You helping out with a bunch of weddings or something?" He asked curiously, nodding to the Elbesh juice.
Eudoxia Level 2 Point Amount: 130 "Jeez Edo control you bot's will you?" "I don't know what the heck happened, the nanobots turned on and... it was like an earthquake hit or something." Edo looked at Seven with a scowl, he knew she was an android. But she could of least noticed that the attack caused even the slightest pain. "Well it wasn't necessarily me!" he complained. "And it wasn't your fault, I don't know what happened to the damned thing. But I'm glad your eye caught it, before it hurt one of those two." he said pointing at Seven and Myth. As Sven called him over he was go over, but Xin picked him up off the ground. "You are not going anywhere buster!" "Could you check his spine? I'm worried it may have burned through more than just skin." He looked at Xin and a shiver went down his spine by having Xin be so close and speak so low in his ear like that. "It's okay. I can stand, Xin. If I couldn't, I couldn't be on this team." he stopped himself after saying that remembering what he talked about with Myth earlier. "Here's your chance, patch me up Myth." he said. He then looked at Xin and thanked her, "Thanks you for helping me up, Xin. Though, we do need to finish our objective since the others are no where near." he then stated. He turned the MicroBot back on and had it fly in his pocket, then turned it back off. "Looks like I'm down to five, this one is acting up." he exclaimed.
Seven gave him the marks and took up the fruits. "That's classified information, thank you for the swift work and good day." With that Seven turned around and walked out of the shop, to see both Xin and Edo together....again. She frowned again, not only because the sight of them irked her but also because she still hadn't figured out why the sight of them upset her. It angered her that she was feeling such an illogical emotion. "So what if they're close? there is nothing wrong with that Seven, you're being irrational." She thought marching over with the juice. "For the love of havean he's fine a hit like that isn't going to take out a member of shadow squad, he isn't an infant Xin."
Commander Tina Sharp “Commander Sharp. You’re reporting in earlier than I expected.” General Cornel’s voice could be heard over the communicator in Tina’s ear. While Shadow Squad ran about doing their errands the commander had taken this time to find a quiet spot and check in with her superiors. “Yes, Sir. I don’t know the next time I’ll be able to do a private check in so I took this opportunity while I had it.” “How is Shadow Squad doing with their second day out on the field?” “They could be doing better, but all Jumpers are nervous their first time off-planet. Aside from a few internal spats they seem to work well as a team.” “What about the A.I.?” He asked. The Commander hesitated for a moment, wondering if now was the time to speak her mind. “Seven, as we’ve chosen to call her, has gone above and beyond what I thought an Android to be capable of. Though obviously ignorant of many human things she seems to be connecting with most members of the Squad well. A few are obviously nervous of her but they haven’t let it affect their performance.” “Commander? You called it a her. Does this mean your thoughts on it have changed?” The commander took a deep breath, wording her words carefully. “I believe it has shown enough self-awareness that it warrants doubt but about my earlier beliefs that it was simply an advanced A.I. Seven even saved one the Shadow Squad members without being asked and seemed to be concerned about her.” The general let out a quiet hmm. “I will continue to watch Seven closely but know that there is the possibility I will be recommending it’s release. I believe Seven would be able to show her true potential if she was no longer bound by the bomb or EMP.” The commander concluded. “Be sure to keep in mind what’s at stake. And what the consequences could be if that Android went rogue.” “Yes, Sir.” “How is that other matter? Xin, I believe her name was.” The Commander looked towards the center of the city. “She shows no signs of following the path her parents took. Then again neither did Kina or Hakon at first.” Tina’s face hardened at the memory. “I realize it must be hard to have the child of former squad-mates on your squad. But I trust you can handle it better than anyone else would be able to.” The general stated. “Be sure to keep me updated. Let me know if she shows any signs of turning traitor.” “I will, Sir. If anything, though, she’s shown the exact opposite. She is a true soldier through and through.” “What about your other Cadets?” “Aren is the one of the best snipers I’ve seen in 8 years. His skills could give the team the advantage they need in a tight spot. Mythai has a bit of germaphobia but she handles it like a pro and doesn’t let it get in the way of her duty. It’s quite admirable. Adwaita had a severe dislike of Seven earlier but has seemed to finally accept her as one of the team. She has a lot of self-confidence…maybe too much, but it’s not without reason. Her abilities are proving to be quite useful. Eudoxia has a good heart but it’s too soft. He’s grown attached to Seven so I’m keeping a close eye on them. His inventions, however, could prove useful in the days to come. They are good squad. Green...but have a lot of potential. I will do what it takes to make them ready for the future trials they may have to face by themselves.” “Very good. I will watch for your regular check in tonight at 1800 hours. “ The transmition cut off and Commander Sharp headed towards the café to meet up with her Cadets.
