Xin: Level: 2 Xin watched the monkey creatures with a critical eye, drawing her blade and letting a stray ray of sunlight glance off of it and into the creature's eyes. It screeched and swung several trees away, making and odd chattering noise. "Maybe we should attack first or try to scare them off while there's less of them. They don't seem to like blinding light, and I don't plan on being swarmed if i can help it." she said to Mason, and her heightened senses picked up the creature's movements like a radar. Potential enemy detected. Heart rate increasing. Muscle density increasing. Diverting excess oxygen to movement speed. the nano-bots bleeped, and Xin glanced at one of the monkeys, her eyes scanning them for any weaknesses. BY her best guess, their anatomy would be similar to that of earth monkeys, so a lethal blow would have to be made to the stomach, heart, or head. Xin's grip on her sword tightened and she nodded once to Tina, lettign her Commander know that she was not going to be caught off guard.
Eudoxia Level 2 Point Amount: 110 Eudoxia was exhausted from walking through the forests. It was hot, and annoying. His shirt was starting to stick to his shirt, so he took it off and wrapped it around his shirt. Though, his cargo pants allowed room for his legs to breathe. Him taking off his shirt showed his shining chest and his six pack. He didn't really care much about how his body looked, he only like the way it was formed because it allowed his chips to respond correctly. He watched as his MicroBots flew back into his pockets after making scans. His purple eyes set on the monkeys, he wasn't much scarred of them though. He was pretty sure his Funnel Glove could take them out in one attack, though he was a little tired to tired and fight. He pulled out his digital holder. He pulled out a tiny white pill with a black line down the middle. Once he took it his stamina recovered. He was at full strength. He was ready for what he was doing. He looked at Seven. Scanning her up and down, seeing she had no sweat. "How you doin' over there, Seven?!" he asked playfully.
Aren He had stripped off his jacket and had only his undershirt on. Between the humid jungle and his heavy pack, he was dripping in sweat. The air felt rich though, and he could tell it was helping him to keep his strength up. Looking up into the trees Aren sighed and shook his head at the monkeyish creatures. "Just like home..." he said. Ever since they'd arrived here, he'd felt like he was back home in Rwanda, other than the freakish size of everything. The thick jungle, the rolling hills, even the monkeys reminded him of home. He wondered how his family was doing. Before leaving on this mission, he'd made sure to set up his pay to be sent directly to his parents. He just hoped that nothing happened to them while he was gone, and mostly that his brothers wouldn't get them into any trouble either. "So, what's the plan when those guys try and go all Planet of the Apes up in here?" he asked the commander, pointing up into the trees.
Xin: 100% Level: 2 Xin spotted what Eudoxia and Aren were doing and her nose wrinkled as she desperately tried to hide the fact that her face was turning red from the neck up, "You know those shirts you just took off might have proven as an extra defence against those guys's claws, probably better not to take them off." For a fact she was actually jealous, she was sweating like crazy and wasn't used to jungle climates. Rather the opposite in fact. Body temperature rising. Diverting oxygen flow to outer layers. the nanobots bleeped, and Xin sighed with releif as she started to cool off a bit. "So, what's the plan when those guys try and go all Planet of the Apes up in here?" Aren asked Tina, and Xin's eyes narrowed. "Clearly the only answer is to make monkey stew out of them." she grumbled, swishing her sword once and making it whistle as it cut through the air. Pausing as she realized she had drawn attention to herself, her blush deepened and she ducked her head to cover her face with her bangs. Stupid stupid stupid! she scolded herself.
"So, what's the plan when those guys try and go all Planet of the Apes up in here?" Aren asked wisely. "Standing back to back will give us a better chance than being all spread out." The Commander replied. She had to talk louder do to the intensifying screeching in the trees. She looked around. Within the last five minutes the amount of creatures in the trees had tripled. There were likely over 50, now. "On your feet everyone, slowly. Stand back to back, protect eachother." She said suddenly. "Mason, raise your biotic shield. It's possible that if they can't get to us, they'll leave us alone." "I won't be able to hold it for more than 5 minutes or so." Mason replied. "I know. Hopefully it'll be long enough. If not...then we get a few scratches and make these buggers regret taking us on." The commander replied. She said it with such confidence that Mason almost stopped being afraid. Almost. The cadets did as they were ordered, moving slowly so as not to aggravate the creatures anymore than they were. Seven was the only one who didn't need someone guarding her back as she was made of metal, though...who knew how much damage those creatures could do to her joints and the softer sections of her frame with their claws. No sooner had the cadets gotten into position than the creatures attacked. Mason raised the biotic shield around everyone just in time. Suddenly, it went almost pitch black in shield. There was hardly a shred of light as the creatures tried to scratch their way into the shield. The sound of screeching was deafening. No one would have been able to hear an order even if they wanted to. Everyone crouched into fighting stances. At the rate these creatures were attacking, Mason wouldn't be able to hold the shield more than 2 or 3 minutes. And if it went down, they would be swarmed. Who knew if they could fight this many and come out with all their limbs. "Get ready, guys. I can't hold this thing any longer." Mason warned. The Commander's hand charged with electricity then suddenly, just as quickly as they creatures had attacked they fled with terrified screeches. Everyone looked at each other questioningly until they saw flames of fire dancing in open lanterns nearby. At first they just saw 3 then, there were 6; forming a circle around them. Mason lowered the shield and Shadow Squad saw strange creatures holding the lanterns. They looked like fairies in way. They were 3 feet tall with four wings on their backs. About the size of a human child though it was easy to tell by their faces many were not children. Their clothes looked like they were made of silk and seemed to float of their own accord. Eudoxia looked up what he could about the creatures in his tablet. He found that they were called Whisps and the creatures they'd just been attacked by were called TarTars. "Lovely day, travelers." The eldest Whisp said flying towards the group. "As you can see, it's dangerous to be in this part of the jungle without burning lights. The TarTars fear them." She smiled. "I am Elheen. Leader of the Mylo Whisps. Where do you come from? I can tell from the garments you wear you are not of the Tellin."
Seven instantly began to scan them, she went up to the first one curiosity overcoming any fear circling it poking occasionally like a child would study a peculiar insect. "Pardon me wisp, but do you happen to know what the meaning of life is? If you do mind filling me in?" Seven finally said satisfied with her investigation of the creature.
Eudoxia Level 2 Point Amount: 110 "Clearly the only answer is to make monkey stew out of them." she grumbled, swishing her sword once and making it whistle as it cut through the air. Pausing as she realized she had drawn attention to herself, her blush deepened and she ducked her head to cover her face with her bangs. Eudoxia chuckled at her comment. He thought it was funny. "Also, I guess you're right about the protection." But then he realized her face went red and she hid it. He sat there and wondered for a bit why she would do that, then he looked at himself and Aren of course. She was shy. But, Edo had no idea why. He had never seen his body as something lustful, maybe more of a body that was prepared for operations and experiments. He always tested himself before testing other people. He smiled at Xin and waved. He then was commanded to go back to back. His teammates and he were protected by a big metal shield from the claws of the TarTars. Once they disappeared, they were approached by a creature that he found the name of being an Whisps. "Lovely day, travelers." The eldest Whisp said flying towards the group. "As you can see, it's dangerous to be in this part of the jungle without burning lights. The TarTars fear them." She smiled. "I am Elheen. Leader of the Mylo Whisps. Where do you come from? I can tell from the garments you wear you are not of the Tellin." Eudoxia was quite pleased to find new creatures. They didn't have them on Earth, so it was nice to actually experience one. Edo was the second to walk towards them, right after his sidekick Seven. He might have been maybe a little to close. "We come from Earth." he said. He then walked up to one of them, and plucked a hair, nice a quick. Almost impossible to notice. He put the hair in his digital holder, maybe he could genetically engineer one.
Xin: Level: 2 Xin looked at the Wisps warilly, but with more curiosity than hostility. At Elheen's question, Xin blinked, "We came here from Earth." she replied, then ducked when a younger Wisp flew at her head, the mischievous little mite giggling. "What the- eek!" Xin fell backwards when the boy smacked right into her face and she went toppling into the grass. He was clearly a very young Wisp, and as she didn't know what to do, she kept her hands up and away from him, "Help!" The boy laughed and crossed his legs, sitting on her stomach with a cocky grin, "I win!" he sniggered, then started laughing so hard he fell off of her and onto the forest floor. Xin caught him before he struck his head on a stone, and that was when he seemed to notice just how big she was compared to him. Before Xin could even blink he had shot behind Elheen and was peering around the Wisp shyly. Her eyebrows rose wordlessly but she made no comment. Must've just been some sort of prank before he realized how crazy it really was, she thought.
Adwaita Adwaita did not trust the Whisps. They seemed sociable enough, but you never knew--they could slit our throats while we were sleeping. Who was to say they didn't kill travelling groups all the time who passed through here? Adwaita glanced at Tina, slightly disappointed. The Commander probably should've had all the information on this area before we waltzed into a pack of weird creatures. Well, I guess all I can do is be ready... Adwaita put one hand on her khopesh and flexed the fingers of her other hand, readying to Freeze whoever tried to make a sudden move. It was in her nature to be cautious. Like the old saying goes, better safe than sorry.
"Pardon me wisp, but do you happen to know what the meaning of life is? If you do mind filling me in?" "We come from Earth." "Why to serve our creator of course, shiny visitor from Earth." Elheen replied with an amused smile. "He's a good God, not like those Zallin people. They're intent on ruling the galaxy." She continued with a sad sigh. The child that had fled behind her flew up and whispered in Elheen's ears. She tapped him on the nose. "Of course we'll invite them for a meal." She returned her attention back to Shadow Squad. "Night is coming. These jungles are even more dangerous then. Especially with the monster Zalligar slithering about. Come along then. We'll give you travelers food and shelter for the night if you have none." "Why would you help a group of strangers? We could be dangerous." The commander asked. "It's what the creator would have us do." Elheen replied as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. Then she took into the air. "Come along then." The other whips made a wide circle around Shadow Squad and began escorting them through the woods. The TarTar's screeching was barely audible. Apparently they had given up their chase. "Are we really going with them commander? I mean I know they saved us but..." Mason asked worriedly. He could feel the uncertainty coming from Adwaita as well. "Our goal was to find the natives and ask them about the cannibal." The Commander replied assuredly. "Aside from that it wouldn't be smart to stay out here after night fall. I doubt these whisps are a threat but if they do prove to be one...we won't hesitate to defend ourselves."
Eudoxia Level 2 Point Amount: 110 Eudoxia wringed out his shirt and then put it back on. He was slightly surprised that he had been so taken up in seeign one, that he had forgotten they could be a threat. Though, he thought back to what they had said earlier. "It's what the creator would have us do." "I don't think they are that much of a threat. All I'm saying is they seem like a group of Christians. I think they'll do no harm. Plus they are kinda small. Though, they have numbers. But, if they become a threat, I'm sure we could take them." stated Eudoxia. Edo walked over to Seven, and whispered in her ear. "Look, Darling. I will begin to work on the project to stop the Electro Magnetic Pulse when we get some free time. I'm trying to think of how to get rid of the bomb. Also, just in case these little fairies become a nuisance, I have a DNA sample. Think you could find a weakness? My tablet doesn't have enough info on them to find weaknesses. It seems not many people have inserted information on these people." He handed Seven the string of hair, and then walked over to Xin. "Xin, what do you think of the creatures. You interacted with one of them. I am actually quite worried, though I am acting cool on the surface. I don't want Tina to know that I am a little worried. Especially since this happens to be our Primary Objective." He slipped his hands into his pockets and set his purple eyes on that of Xin's. For once actually sitting in the silence of the forest, observing her beauty, while waiting for an answer.
"I'll try my best." Seven answered "But Eudoxai you are mistaken my name is not Darling, my name is... Seven..." She said the number with a hint of disappointment, disdain even. Pushing away any negative feelings she bounded over to the wisps. "Who is this creature you name God? and where may I find him? Also who is your manufacturer? and do you happen to know what happens to us when we die?" Seven began assaulting them with a slew of philosophical questions chatting as if she were talking about the weather.
Elheen did her best to answer Seven's numerous questions. "Who is this creature you name God? and where may I find him?" "He is a being of significant power. You can not see him. You just feel him...here." Elheen pointed to her heart. "And you see what he has done all around us. The jungles our bodies. Life." "Also who is your manufacturer? and do you happen to know what happens to us when we die?" "What is man-oo-factor? I've never heard the word. As for when we die, our spirits go to a beautiful place called paradise. Where there are no serpents, no evil, not death, no pain. Just joy and beauty." Elheen smiled. She seemed to enjoy having a stranger so interested in her beliefs. She asked questions herself such as, "What do you do to make your skin shine so?" And "Why does your face always seem unhappy." ---------------------------------------- After about a ten minute trek distant lanterns could be seen burning in the distance. As they got closer they began to homes formed in the branches of the trees way above them. Elheen flew up to the biggest and dropped down a rope ladder for Shadow Squad to use. Seven was the last to use it and the moment she set foot on the first rung it snapped. Being as heavy as she was, she had to find another way up. The floor of the homes creaked ominously under her weight but managed not to break. Despite the creatures being small, the roof (or rather canopy of leaves) was nearly 20 feet above then, giving the squad plenty of room to walk around and stand up straight. Elheen guided the group to a large table in the middle of the biggest room. The squad had to sit on the floor do to the chairs being so small. After a supper of vegetables and a strange tasting stew Elheen asked, "So what brings travelers from another world, all the way out here?"
Xin: Level: 2 "I don't know what to think about them exactly. They seem harmless enough, but then they could be like your bots and pack a punch, which is what I'm betting on." Xin replied to Eudo's question, and noticing his scrutiny, felt her face heat up a bit, but stifled the blush by swallowing hard, "It may be best that we just play along for now. Keep an eye on Seven though -they may try something with her first if they attack."
Eudoxia Level 2 Point Amount: 110 "So what brings travelers from another world, all the way out here?" "I'll state it like this. The belly of the beast." "I don't know what to think about them exactly. They seem harmless enough, but then they could be like your bots and pack a punch, which is what I'm betting on." Xin replied to Eudo's question, and noticing his scrutiny, felt her face heat up a bit, but stifled the blush by swallowing hard, "It may be best that we just play along for now. Keep an eye on Seven though -they may try something with her first if they attack." Eudoxia's purple eyes set on Xin and he smiled. Both spheres of purple were shinning thanks to the reflection of the lantern light. Her words reverberated in his head. He then walked over to Xin and said "I would have to agree. I would say that I had not thought of looking at it that way." He then put his hand on Xin's shoulders, he was actually agreeing with Xin, but he was also picking with her. He had past noticed she kept lighting up like a stoplight. He then continued treating her like an dependent variable, but not to be raucous, but playful. "You're so smart, Xin. I will use your idea!" One of his nine MicroBots followed Seven. He was down to eight now, but this one would show him Seven's location and what was going on around her through a first person point of view. He had the footage on his tablet, and he would be watching it while they talked the whisps.
Mythai Dravid From her place on the floor, Mythai looked around the house with awe. The whisps were very interesting, they had the appearance of small humans, but obviously were not. She wondered if their body systems functioned any differently than the average human and how they used those wings of there's. Many questions bounced around in her mind, but the main leader of the creatures beat her to it. "So what brings travelers from another world, all the way out here?" Mythai couldn't help but look towards Commander Sharp. Were these creatures trustworthy enough to expose their true motive? She sure didn't want to be the one to speak up and be blamed. She had done that many times and had learned the hard way. The better approach probably was to be vague first. "I'll state it like this. The belly of the beast." Eudoxia said. Mythai sighed. Well, there went the mystery. "Yes, we are looking for someone," she added.
Xin: Level: 2 "I am very tempted to punch you in the gut right now," she grumbled, but knew better -plus it was clear by the tone of her voice that she wouldn't do it. She couldn't afford to punish an impudent teamate when they could be attacked by outside enemies. Gritting her teeth and ignoring the fact that her face was bright maroon, Xin carefully stepped away from Eudo only to feel something shove her in the small of her back. Hard. "Hahahaha! Gotcha!" the Wisp boy laughed when Xin realized her predicament. Eudo had caught her, but she was pressed up against his chest in a very swoon-worthy position right then. Very bad. Xin swore she would catch that Wisp if it was the last thing she did, and teach the little brat a lesson.
"Hahahaha! Gotcha!" the Wisp boy laughed. "Airock! Leave the visitors alone. Go play with your friends." A nearby mother whisp called out to the boy. She pushed the troublesome child out of the room and bowed apologetically to Xin before leaving as well. "I'll state it like this. The belly of the beast." "Yes, we are looking for someone." Elheen gave them a confused look. "I apologize. I don't understand." "A cannibal...actually." Mason explained. That sounds so weird. We're looking for a cannibal. Another confused look. "Someone or something that eat their own kind." "Ah." Elheen said as her eyes showed she understood. "The only creature around here that does that is the mountain serpents. The only living one right now is Zalligar." At the mention of the name Zalligar, the other whisps in the room went quiet, and their faces shone with fear. "She's been alive for near 3,000 full moons now. They live a horribly long time. They feed upon each other until there are only one or two left. Just enough to restart the cycle." "Sounds like a cannibal to me. But a mountain serpent? You guys seem really scared of it. Is it really so horrible?" Mason asked. "You've obviously never seen one in person. She is so big she blocks out the sight of the mountains. From her mouth she spews venom that can kill a full grown whisp in a few hours. And her tail is powerful enough to knock down an elder tree." Elheen shuddered. "Zalligar is both a blessing and a curse. She protects us from the Tellin People but every few months we lose one or two whisps to her jaws." She looked out the window sadly. "I myself have lost a child to Zalligar."
Eudoxia Level 2 Point Amount: 110 Mythai sighed. Eudoxia looked in her direction and asked, "Are you disappointed in me?" Eudoxia didn't know what came over him, to give information out so quickly, but it didn't seem to matter, seeing as how Tina seemed to trust them. Eudo had caught her, but she was pressed up against his chest in a very swoon-worthy position right then. Very bad. Eudoxia caught his comrade Xin. He noticed that she began to blush again. He just smiled down at her with a grin that stretched from cheek to cheek, he was obviously being imperious. He held Xin for a moment waiting to see the Conclusion of this experiment. He then chuckled, helping Xin up and noticed she was angered by the little whisp boy. He put his hands into his pocket and thought. He had been experiencing all this new stuff. He was getting overzealous. He was happy, and it was causing him to be less careful. Was he being a little too upfront with these people? Could he really be the one to bring the team to it's knees. When caught up in conspiracy against the commander and now giving away private information. "I myself have lost a child to Zalligar." He then realized that Mason had given it all away, so he no longer worried. He did begin to fantasize about the beast. Though his thoughts of taming the beast were interrupted when he had heard she lost a child to. His purple eyes seemed as if they got darker. He was angry, furious even. A child being lost to an evil beast. His hand balled into fists, inside of his pockets. He then began to walk towards Elheen very slowly and said in a very deep and low voice, "We'll make that bastard snake pay. I don't care what it is, I'll kill it." He may have spared peoples' lives, but beasts that take peoples' lives were different.
Mythai Dravid As the whisp spoke, fear and sadness fell over the room. Mythai could sympathize with them; fear had held her hostage since she was a child. Still did at times...her anxiety would always be with her. Her parents had often spoke of it being hereditary, but she still hadn't done a full study to prove the fact. A Jumper couldn't be fearful though, and during her training, her motto had been 'fake it 'till you make it'. Well, she had made it alright. "Are you disappointed in me?" Mythai looked up from her thoughts to see Eudoxia holding Xin. The shock was prominent on her face, but she quickly shook it off. "Uh...well," Mythai muttered, taken aback by the question. The last thing she wanted to do was hurt the poor guy's feelings. "I just didn't expect you to speak so plainly, that's all. From the get-go, we don't know who is a friend or possible enemy. Anyone can betray us." She looked to the whisp woman with a warm smile. "No offense to your people, of course."
Xin: "Thanks," Xin muttered when Eudox finally let her go. Then, she turned to the Wisps, "We have been sent here to kill that serpent -or at least it sounds like that from the way you have described it. The only problem is, you have said it protects you from the Tellin, and if we kill it then its species may go extinct." "I do not mean to be cruel by what i am next about to say, but wouldn't it be better to lose one or two of your people as this serpent lives over hundreds by the Tellin? It seems to be doing more to protect you than harm you."
Adwaita Adwaita loved the vegetables and the stew that was offered by the Whisp people. She finished her portion and was considering asking for a second, when the Ehleen got talking about their cannibal. Zalligar the serpent. Doesn't sound good at all, Adwaita thought with a sense of forboding, suddenly losing her appetite. She pushed her bowl away. I wonder if I can Freeze this monstrous serpent... Adwaita flexed her fingers in her lap, imagining the huge creature that could block out the sun and knock over elder trees. Adwaita couldn't Freeze something that big. So, her Freezing power was out. She was sorting through her other abilities and thinking up a battle strategy, when Xin spoke. "I do not mean to be cruel by what i am next about to say, but wouldn't it be better to lose one or two of your people as this serpent lives over hundreds by the Tellin? It seems to be doing more to protect you than harm you." "Xin", Adwaita snapped, surprised at how callous Xin was sounding. "The Zalligar ate one of Elheen's children. No one should have to go through that, and no child should have to die that way. That serpent isn't protecting anybody." Adwaita stared at Xin for another moment, her large dark eyes intense, and then she looked away. Maybe Xin was spending too much time with those robots, she was losing her human empathy. How could she even suggest they let this thing live after Elheen just told us she had a lost a child to it? Adwaita shook her head moodily, her dark hair flying.

Eudoxia heard Xin and almost agreed with her, but he knew it was better not to say. He looked at her, his face had a look of disgust. But after Adwaita turned her face away he began to nod at Xin. He then looked at Elheen. "Either way it goes, I'm gonna kill that snake. And I have an idea on what to do to keep you guys protected, even after we leave." Eudoxia's purple eyes grew large as he pulled out a MicroBot and his tablet as to watch Seven's movements waiting for her to get into the room. Once he noticed she was in the room he spoke to Elheen again, "I can create a hologram with this." he held up his MicroBot. "If I keep the hologram of the snake up after we kill it, it will protect you from travelers who mean to hurt you." He continued.
"We'll make that bastard snake pay. I don't care what it is, I'll kill it." He may have spared peoples' lives, but beasts that take peoples' lives were different. "The Zalligar ate one of Elheen's children. No one should have to go through that, and no child should have to die that way. That serpent isn't protecting anybody." Seven frowned, her mind began to calculate, she shook her head. "Hold on. you are being rash and your emotions are getting in the way." Seven took a moment to think. "The creature protects them correct? then if we kill the serpent more wisps will die to what ever the serpent protects them from, as such it would be worse if it dies not better, I have reasoned then that the creature should live. as for your hologram, what happens when it eventually breaks down or runs out of power, or what if they see through your ruse? then what? that's a terrible plan." She began to pace, "What's more, you organics eat each other all the time, what then is the crime the beast committed? when you your selfs eat the young of various other organic life forms for nurioushment? I think your baised thinking is clouding your sense of logic." She frowned and shook her head again. "No, I don't see the logic in killing it at all."
Adwaita Adwaita sighed and looked at Seven. This time her eyes weren't filled with anger or contempt, but with pity. "No Seven, you don't understand, I don't think you ever can", Adwaita said. "It's a human thing. You don't get it because you can't use empathy. If something eats our child and terrorizes your people, you don't pat it on the back and let it go about it's day. If these people could have they would've destroyed the thing already. But they can't, so we will." Adwaita turned to Commander Tina. "Right, Commander...?" The Commander hadn't spoke out yet. It was unclear what action she wanted them to take. Adwaita gave seven one more glance out of the corner of her eye. She didn't know if she could hate or even befriend Seven anymore. She felt too bad for it. And if it didn't have empathy, that was a huge flaw. She'd probably kill any of them in cold blood if she thought it was logical. No, whoever decided putting an android on the frontlines was a good idea should be locked away.
