Coming in late here, but good grief Homer, where did you acquire all that music theory?

He visists the Music Theory Graveyeard on full moon nights with a dead cat and finds a hollow stump full of rainwater and performs certain unspeakable acts of magical significance...

Years of lessons, bruh! My understanding of all of it is relatively rudimentary, but I'm trying to learn more. I've been doing mostly jazz this year and that shit gets complicated in a hurry. Rick Beato has some great videos on basic theory I recommend. Makes more sense if you can hear how the triads work with each other and see the charts and shit along with the tutorials.

Johnny Smith, the latest endeavor for guitar class. It's not the hardest song I've ever tried to learn but it's definitely the hardest song I haven't given up on yet. The tempo is about 170 BPM, which is getting into thrash metal territory, so I'm doing it at about 75% playback, which is around 125 or so. Jazz tempos sneak up on you a hurry, usually because the drums play slower than the instruments, which is the opposite of metal tempos a lot of the time.

And this one is in drop D, which I don't see much in the jazz world... especially in Johnny Smith's time.

I stumbled across this the other day and can't stop playing it. I won't ever call anything "easy," but this one is very manageable.
