    The lining of this cloud

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Oxymaroon, May 4, 2020.

I don't insist on silver; it can be any material and colour, just so it's positive. This whole virus thing must surely have an up-side!
    One thing:
People who were standoffish or socially awkward misfits three months ago are now considerate, responsible citizens.
I was never comfortable with all the hand-shaking, never mind being hugged by strangers, or anybody standing up close and touching me during casual conversations. I don't have to learn a new way to relate to people - they do!

    What's your positive?

Hmmm, familiarity breeds... no, but yeah-maybe. My jury’s out.

...and rather smug about their pre-lockdown sex doll purchases ;)

    What’s virtue signalling?

A Silverlining for me, is that I’ve got all my house in order. DIY sense that is, odd jobs all evened out. Even took time to trim lawn edges with scissors! Neatest it’ll ever be.

Writers tend to be a little introverted, but now that my neighbors have all turned into asocial incels, I'm cooler than the Fonz. Aaayy!

I've been watching "Barry" on Hulu. Winkler does an excellent job on there. Very funny show. My kid thinks the MC is Dwight from The Office, but I've explained a dozen times that it's just not so.

    Out There --
serious people in serious positions are talking seriously about some of the reforms we've known for years are needed but it was considered political suicide to mention.
Talk is just barely something, but at least when circumstances force them to take action, they won't be coming to it from a position of absolute ignorance...
    ...well, most of 'em....

There’s this video recording of a poem. I was going to put it in the “covid-19 and writing” thread but then I realised it’s more about “silver linings”.

Real Estate prices will most likely drop, so that's good if you're in the market. Like me. However, depressed property values will butt fuck the economy further by decreasing overall wealth, which is not good if you have to live in the world. Like me.

    Hmm... yeah, I got nothing.

I've heard from a lot of people I haven't spoken to in years.
They've reached out to make sure I'm doing ok .
Reconnecting with people has been a real positive for me.
