I remember playing this to a friend in secondary school, and she cried herself laughing; thought it absolutely hysterical. It is funny, but maybe not quite that funny.

 

As someone who does grow homegrown tomatoes, I must agree they really are worth singing about. Nothing silly at all. That song great, though nothing beats Bobby Bare for silly food music.
