So this lunatic does covers "in the style of" other artists. What if Metallica had recorded ZZ Topp's "Sharp Dressed Man"?
I had a great time yesterday at the Niagara Irish Festival. I love watching Irish dancers! Lots of good music, too. Enjoyed a live version of Molly Malone, then came home and found this haunting rendition of it by Sinead O'Connor.
Well my niece had decided on her next travel nursing job and is moving to Boston next week. So I introduced her to this song.
Nice! Just in time for football season. Go Patriots! Being a traveling nurse, I assume they pay for housing? That's one expensive city.
No, she has to pay for her own apartment. She's moving to Back Bay, a beautiful, upscale neighbourhood of stately brownstones (they pay travel nurses well), and close to everything, including the hospital she'll be working at. She'll be able to walk to work. She's bringing her car at first, to bring all her stuff, then driving it back here (about an 8 hour drive) then flying back, so she won't have her car, since parking would cost her hundreds of dollars a month.
Yep, Back Bay is dope. That's where we usually stay when we visit. And yeah, they pay the travelers very well. My wife is a regular nurse between RI and Massachusetts. Mass pays quite a bit more but it's more expensive to live. They don't call it Taxachusetts for nothing. Just make sure she doesn't turn into a Masshole.
Her one-bedroom apartment cost twice as much as it would here in Ontario, but her income will also be twice as much as what a nurse makes here in Ontario. LOL, no way. You can take the girl out of Canada, but can't take the Canada out of the girl.
I was wrong. I found out that travel nurses do get a stipend to pay for their housing. Anyway, she's on the road now. Left this morning. She called me after she got across the border. She said there were literally hundreds of cars at the border, very busy this morning, but she was able to bypass what would probably have been a two-hour wait to get across because she has a Nexus card. The Nexus lane was empty!
Hawaiian music is in it own realm out here, many great musicians do not get the exposure they deserve as we are seemingly cutoff. Pisses me off TOOL will not stop here after a overseas tour. Hawaiian bands I feel are great: Rebel Soljahz - there latest album featuring the song "Higher" great song! also a song they did from another album was a big hit here - "Spaceship" Israel Kamakawiwo'ole - Somewhere over the Rainbow and pretty much anyhting he did before he passed away is really great. A band called "The Green" a song called "Coming Home" Maoli, this guy is loaded with talent and has one hell of a voice, Songs "Shoot Down" - "Mercy" - "In case you didn't know" (cover) And this dude that goes by the name "Stick Figure" - Top Songs - "Fire on the Horizon" - "Sound of the Sea" - "Edge of the Ocean" and "Angels above me" this guy has a very unique sound and style that will make any new listener an immediate fan!
The sound of 13-year-old Malakai's voice brought tears to my eyes. I didn't understand the words, but something much deeper was touched.
If you're looking for a little pick-me-up, listen to this song. I love Veronica's distinctive voice. I guess the Ronettes were named for her - from Ronnie.
