I did too. She died. I follow her Order on Facebook and they tend to post obituaries of nuns of the Order who have passed away. I was sad to see her obituary posted.
I’m in a bit of a bind. My car crapped out. The cheap little glove box quality code scanner I have said there were three codes, but only gave two: P0303, and P0457. 303 means the #3 cylinder is repeatedly miss firing, and 457 means my gas cap sucks. I took it in to get it looked at, and the news was not good. It couldn’t be something inexpensive and easy like a fouled plug, or a bad coil pack, or a bad injector. No. It had to be a dead cylinder. My engine is done. The leakdown test showed that cylinder at 38 pounds when it should be at 180. A new engine is going run somewhere around $5000 (that’s $5000 I don’t have.) or I can just get a new car and cut my losses. I like that little car. It’s been a good car for ten years. My favorite thing about that car is it was paid for.
its been a month since we put our old house up for sale. After the moving drama, I washed my hands of the old house. anything having to deal with moving, I was done. i focused on the new house. so, I went back to the old house tonight to patch up the wall where my dogs had scratched, and repaint.... and the house is emptied. the garage....cluttered with boxes that hadn't been moved over, and bags of garbage and items i'd asked him to take to be donated, as well as our yard stuff like the weed wacker and parts. I'm so pissed! I call him and ask him about all that stuff and he's so nonchalant about it. WE ARE TRYING TO SELL THIS HOUSE AND HAVE HAD NO BUYERS!! so I load up my car with what I can. and he goes up to the house (because I was so upset about it all) and loads up his truck. and he says to me "I'm sorry I didn't have the garage the way YOU wanted it." WTF!?!!?
If we didn't love them, there would be a lot of holes secretly dug by night in back gardens everywhere.
[I like that little car. It’s been a good car for ten years. My favorite thing about that car is it was paid for.[/QUOTE] I know that feeling. No payments, and if you happen to get another a little ding, it doesn't matter. I miss my 20-year old Mazda that finally bit the dust. But there comes a point when investing any more money in it is simply a fool's game avoiding (and paying for) the inevitable end. And a new car warranty does give aid and comfort.
Fortunately for me, it's winter enough that the ground is still frozen. But I am going to start monitoring the shovels.
That is referred to as the black book value of the car, where the price of the repair is more than the value of the car as a whole.
It’s a 2010 Dodge with a cracked windshield and 119,000 miles. Tye milage is a plus for the age, but overall the car is only worth about $4500.
I've had two cars that lasted 14 years and 150,000 miles each. Unfortunately, they simply got too old and had to go.
My car is 12 years old and just cracked 60K miles. 1.4 mile commute with virtually all necessities--grocery stores, liquor stores, my restaurants--within .5 miles of that path. And I rarely get out 4th gear living in a city, so my MPG is like 17.
If it was a Japanese car I would suggest putting a used engine in it. As I understand it there is a law in Japan that puts a large tax on the taxis if they go over a specific mileage, so the cabbies replace the engine to avoid the tax.
