I don't think anyone's making assumptions about the character of people (unfortunately) named Karen. But I am sure it has been extremely annoying to them. I bet that half the time they introduce themselves, some jackass makes a dumb joke. "Ohh, nice to meet you, Karen. You don't want to speak with my supervisor, do you? Ohohohoho I am so clever."

There's an entire tribe of hill people called the Karen who live on the border of North Wast Thailand. They're known for their handmade silver ornaments. I'm sure they wouldn't appreciate the meaning that their autonym has taken on.

Has anyone noticed an issue with Gemini? It can analyze stuff but you have to be so specific and the things that it can do keep changing. For instance, I was making some music for characters from a show that I like but I wasn't sure what instruments to use. I decided to try asking it for some suggestions. It gave a few good suggestions. A few days later I try again with some other characters and it says, "This character is not associated with an instrument." I say that I know and I just want a suggestion and it replies, "Ok. This character is a scientist and not a musician but here are some suggestions."

I wanted to use it to analyze my writing, just to make sure the theme was what I was going for. And maybe rewrite certain lines (the idea is that in universe those characters' lines are actually written by AI. I thought it'd be funny. Might need to be done manually by me at this point). But if it's so finicky that it changes what it can and can't do on a dime then what's the point?

Are you really asking why a computer program can't pick instruments for characters or accurately analyze your themes? You might as well ask why humans can't detect radio waves from distant galaxies with their naked eyes.

I'm having a bang-up morning/early afternoon. I stepped in dog puke with my bare socks, somehow caught the button hole of my sleeve on something in the dishwasher and tore it through, then a plastic dish slipped from my kitchen cabinet and whacked me lightly in the noodle.

Not unhappy, just weird. I don't think I'll use sharp knives or operate a motor vehicle today. Fate seems to have me in her radar.

Fate is monstrous. We bring our bare backs to her villainy. Some say she has fine locks of hair, but I know her to be bald.

    O Fortuna.

Yeah, not sure what I did. I just poked myself beneath the fingernail picking trying to extricate an apple seed. At least I sliced it without incident.

Driving home from a visit to the old home place, a 500 mile drive, I pull in for a coffee and got out my phone. To take a rest break. A text message from my adult daughter, to the effect of, "Don't worry about me, the school where it happened is several miles from the one where I teach." I get into the details, a school shooting here in Madison WI, one teacher and one student dead, two in life-threatening critical care. The shooter was a 15-year old female student, who shot herself to death with the handgun she was carrying. The person who called the police? A 2d grader. The site was a Christian academy school with an upper-class clientele. The 83d US school shooting this year, according to CNN.

This is simply madness. No other way to look at it.

I am sorry this happened, but I am glad your daughter is okay. Yeah, it is madness with sadly no solution that people can agree upon.

On another sad note, I realized half-way through my game, I hate playing Dexterity builds. (Think katana or rapier weapons.) I have never been this stuck at the Anor Londo Archers before. But yesterday, I spent 50 minutes trying to get past them with my little sword. I usually slam them into the ground with my BIG ASS SWORD. OR poison them with arrows. But this time, I was determined to do it without underhanded methods.

For example (This is not me!):

But now, 50 minutes later, those fuckers are gonna get it!

I have only played a little ER, but I want to play more. The open world is overwhelming, though.

Oooouuu, Souls talk. My introduction was Bloodborne, I loved it, blew my mind. Then I played Dark Souls 2, then 3, then 1. Got the remaster of Demon's Souls, but I got very frustrated and just switched it off after a ridiculous gauntlet of enemies that killed me at least 4 times to the 1 where I managed to get through to the boss (who swatted me like a fly every time). Damn you, Old King Allant !

I snapped up Elden Ring on a Black Friday deal and it will finally get delivered this week. Really looking forward to trying it out over the holidays. I like the open world idea, rather than a fixed path, as that should allow me to level up a bit and fight tougher bosses when I'm ready. Or so I hope.

I started with Ds1. Quit at the Asylum Demon. Then, came back to Dark Souls a few months later, because of watching a variety of videos. I picked up DS2 at the game store and then, went back to Ds1. Because 2 was...Dark Souls 2? I am now playing it, and really liking it. I learned I can cheese Heide's Tower by summoning the guy by the Dragonrider and letting him deal with the path to ODS. You know who I am talking about.

I am also working on Ds3 and liking it. To me, it's too linear, but I am having fun. I also tried Demon Souls on PS3 and needed to take a break at Tower Knight because that damn bridge run is PAIN. And you're talking to someone who spent 50 minutes being target practice for the Anor Londo Archers Club.

I really want to play Bloodborne, but I don't do well with horror games. I am worried it's too scary for me- I got crept out by the Depths. LOL.

I am sorry King Allant is a pain! That does suck. I hope you will be able to finish the game.

As for Elden Ring, that is so exciting! I hope you enjoy and a tip, go SOUTH for an easier time. I learned this when I played it from the library. Going south, not north makes life easier. That's the only tip I know. Please keep me updated on your progress and I really hope you enjoy! :)

Yeah! It is much harder than the other games. I was NOT used to the combat speed- I almost think it's TOO fast. But, I can't wait to play it. I have access to a PS4 on occasion and so have played a bit on there. Have you played Elden Ring?

And what do you guys think about Night Reign? I am not sure how I feel. I just can't stop thinking, "Centipede Demon? Really??"

Edit -- the police later clarified that it was a 2d grade teacher who called it in. Later news reveals the girl had a turbulent home life, her parents having married and divorced twice, and the father, with whom the girl lived mostly, liked taking her to shooting ranges and a gun club. And the girl apparently in social media contact with a 20-year old guy in California who told her he was planning a similar attack. And a photo of the girl wearing a similar T-shirt to one of the Columbine massacre shooters. Retroflective red flags, eh?
