My essay sucks. I'm trying to win a scholarship with this essay, but it just sucks. I have a month until it's due, but I really need to get a -decent- start on this. I have an outline written, but I cant seem to articulate my views correctly, and it's eating at me. I probably shouldnt have read previous winning entries --now I feel horribly inept. Aaaaand inferiority complex rears it's ugly head. Jeez. I need to get this done; it shouldnt be so hard to get words to paper --I do it every day. Because I've just been sitting, thinking about this essay all day. Yesterday I didnt do anything either; I feel incredibly lazy and useless, pathetic...
Take a break from the essay to clear your head and then take another look at it and try writing again. If you need an outsider's opinion of your essay, I'd be glad to read it for you.
Merc, stop doing the essay for like a day or two and go do something calming. Seriously, don't think about it for a little while and when you come back, with a fresh mind, things will be easier.
I'm writing it over Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. The winner receives a $10,000 prize... and the other 48 (1 first place, 3 second, 5 third, 20 finalists, 20 semifinalists) earn lesser dollar amounts. The prompts are mostly political and have something to do with the rightful distribution of money... I'm really bad at political and monetary subjects; my mind changes too easily. Which is making it all the more difficult. I may just take you up on that, Heather, if I ever get around to finishing a draft! *tantrum* My English teacher has promised to help me with it too, but I need to have something down first. Boo.
Getting started is always the hardest part. Don't stress about it, though. Once you get going, I'm sure the words will come much more easily!
I'd much rather have a mullet than the piece of crap I have now. I'm going to a party tomorrow and It was done just for that. Now I'm gonna have to wear my hat instead.
I woke up with a spasm in my lower back. I blame the hour and half that I spent last night sitting on a bench with no back support. Stupid rehearsal. Stupid back pain. At least I get to go to my Chiro tonight,
Hers looks better than mine. My hair is an example of what happens when you decide to cut your own hair without having any idea how to cut hair. I'm sorry, 'Mina! I hope your chiro fixes your back up so it feels better! *pictures self without any hair* I think maybe I'll stick with the mullet.
Hey, you never know, maybe you'll look great with a shaved head. Plus I hear it's all the rage in Europe at the moment. I keep my hair pretty long. It's a little past my shoulders.
I'd just like to emphasize the "Europe" bit. As in, France, Germany, Spain etc. That's all. Carry on. Sorry, Xenophile patrol.
Dan, with a really good hat, all things are possible! I have a massive hat collection. Bummer you dont like your cut though. How much did you have cut off? It shouldnt take too long to grow back. And by the way, is it sunny today in England? (It's not here.) If it is, go outside; it makes your hair grow more quickly.
I asked for a trim. I got a trim. n the top. And a massacre on the sides. And to answer your other question: It's England.
I've never had my hair shorter than my chin, and it being that short made me uncomfortable. I have a suspicion that I would be one of those people who shaves their head only to discover that their skull is not a very attractive one... Plus I have psoriasis on my scalp, so...ew. Should probably keep my hair, to cover that up. Want me to beat the stylist up for you?
