Well he was before his teeth were pulled, but I would have hugged him then too He was like fluffy and stuff, lol. Like my dog. (I may have a very slight death wish)
^ Oh my. He does have the lascivious grin and the nonchalantly-placed-right-arm-on-the-back-of the-seat thing going on... hallmarks of creepy Lotharios the world over. God only knows what his left hand's doing.
Oh no! How'd you do that? You work in Word, right? Go to File - Click on Recent - then at the bottom of the page click on Recover Unsaved Documents. Did you try that?
Nah it's gone..I copied the words out of one document intending to paste it into another, deleted it in the first doc, saved that doc, then when I went to paste it over I must have hit a button on the keyboard by mistake which ruined the paste. It was about the devil and his devious ways...I think he's messing with my head! lol
You can write it again. It'll be even better this time! +rep... cause you're awesome (and maybe there's a little pity in there )
I just received an email from one of the people that my roommate and I subleased our current apartment from. Neither my roommate nor I are really pleased with either of the girls, because they promised to clean up the damages in the apartment (including professional carpet cleaning and repainting the walls --there are random off-color patches in every single room), and they told us that we would be receiving all of the money from our safety deposit back, but all of it was a lie. We trusted them as first time leasers, and we were taken advantage of. I also am furious with the leasing office because all of these negotiations were discussed in the office with a representative. As it turns out, I wont be getting any of my deposit back, and my roommate and I, who have only been living in the apartment for 3 months out of the 12 month contract, are going to be charged for the whole year's worth of damages. We found this out through the complex AFTER we had signed the contract (which did not make this clear); the previous girls wont be charged anything. The complex is not the best around. They are in the middle of lawsuits because they failed to tell tenants about carcinogen threats in all the apartments, and we've lost power and water at least five times in these past 3 months. It's ridiculous. So I am hoping that they will be too busy or too cheap to run a thorough inspection of the house. I have also been told by other tenants that their apartments are in lousy shape too. At this point I don't even care if I get my deposit back, but if they ask for more, my roommate and I are going to throw fits, and hopefully they will give up after all they have put us through. So one of the previous tenants emailed me and asked me for $10 that I owed her. "It makes a big difference to me," she said. I wouldn't have a problem paying $10 to her if she had made the improvements to the apartment to they promised us and if they hadn't lied to us about the fact that we'll be charged for all of their damages. But they took advantage us, and I am pissed, and legally there is nothing I can do about it. I am thinking about sending her back a really bitchy email saying all this... but I hate being mean. I cant decide how to respond, if at all.
Merc, that's f-cking shit, pure and simple. I know how awful people are when it comes to students; they'll rip you off any way they can. I'm just surprised the girls are being so childish about it. I'd be tempted to tell them that, seeing as they're so cheap, they can have my $10 provided I wipe my behind with it first. Ok, that would be my tacky approach. Regardless, you're entitled to give them a piece of your mind; it's not like you're the offending party here! So sorry you had to go through such a tough time, especially when an apartment is supposed to be your safe haven away from work and uni. x Kudos to you for dealing with it so well though, chicky. I wouldn't have expected any less from you. x
Check your contract on this. Regardless of what is in the contract (well, unless it has some kind of indemnity of the previous girls, which it shouldn't), you have a claim against the previous girls. In other words, the complex may well be able to come after you for all of it, but you can sue the previous girls in return. Assuming they have any money to make it worthwhile.
Copy of letter I've just scribbled and appended to an ominous looking form: I hope some office Johnny is irritated by that. This almost made it into the Happy thread.
ROFL! That made me laugh Hope I can give you rep... (Oh... and sorry about your... errrr... troubles)
Thanks, Ash and Steerpike. I think what really does it for me is that my roommate did owe this girl $100 for part of the deposit; she wrote her a check, but the girl never cashed it and eventually the $100 was put back in my roommate's account. She cant need the money that badly if she cant be bothered to cash a $100 check, can she? Especially when she had a full month to do it. My roommate and I decided that I wont respond to her until we hear the word on what the complex is going to charge us in damages, which will probably be in the next two weeks or so, since I'm fairly certain the apartment is already lined up for new tenants to move in the very next day after our lease expires. So the complex will have to do some sort of evaluation before new tenants put all their furniture down, right? Hopefully our initial security deposit of $210 will cover everything, but I have my doubts if the complex actually cares to perform a proper inspection. Sigh... I am just so tired. I don't like being an adult if all it is, is paying bills and taking everyone's sh/t. I am moving out of the complex this upcoming week and start a new lease with a better complex on August 1st and know that I don't have to worry about the kind of crap that I went through with this complex (because I already have friends who have been tenants of this new complex for over a year), but I have definitely learned my lesson and will be wary for future arrangements of anything financial. I hate packing, especially so much packing, but I cant wait to start moving out. I pick up the key to my new place on Monday and will be all moved out by Friday.
It's snowing back home. I WANT SNOW. Why did I move to the snow-less (but icily windy) Wellington, again? -_-
