My dog was the same age when he died in 2008. Did i mention 2008 was a hellhole for me? Anyway, his leg broke and there was no way we were able to keep him alive. I miss him so much. My grandpa and my Dog both died the same year :( I never mention 2008, worst part of my life ever. I had the most awesome 5th grade teacher that played Halo and World of Warcraft, but that just wasn't enough to bring my life to new light for very long. But without her as a reasonable teacher it would of been much worse. She's one of the few people during that time that encouraged me things would get better. That whole year was awful, and my life didn't fully restore until August 2009 when we moved into a new house that was much bigger, and it was the cheapest around here. I almost had to move to another school, and im so thankful im still in Lake Dallas. I have so much friends in my school, i could barely keep count haha. My 7th grade teacher was awesome and so my whole life ever since August 2009 has been almost the best it could be. Yeah i maybe lost 2 of my family members, but i didn't lose all my great friends in Lake Dallas. Once i started feeling more grateful about that, my life couldn't be anymore complete even after a few rough patches. Ive been through some hell, but it couldn't be any better to have friends to support you through it. :)

I am really sorry, GiGi. :( I share this quote with people who I hear have lost a pet recently. It helped me a lot in January when I lost my dog.

    Unknown author.

She is no longer in any pain, and that should be a comfort to you, no matter how much it hurts right now. It's okay and healthy to mourn, but remember to be grateful that you had her at all. It is hard to lose a pet --they are family members. I hope you are doing all right.

Yes, it is sad to lose our furry companions. When they reach their natural lifespan I always take some comfort in the fact that I've given them a nice life. But it still isn't easy.

@Steerpike - I know, but that was a very emotional moment in Serenity for me. ;D

Gigi, I'm so sorry about your dog. My cat's getting old, and I worry for the day when it will be Her Time. But I think Steerpike had great advice about reminding yourself you gave a dog a good life. Perhaps you can adopt a new dog from a shelter, and give a new animal a good forever home?

GiGi I am real sorry about your dog. I have had bad experiences with my own dogs, and believe me, the pain fades. Just gotta know that they are in doggy Heaven and that they are waiting to play with you in the next life. :D

Thank you, everyone. That means a lot to me. I'm sure that she's in heaven, looking down on us now. I'll miss her always, of course, but knowing she's not in pain or suffering any more is a good thing.

We will eventually adopt another dog, but not anytime soon of course. We need to remember Winnie now and have a mourning period, coming to terms with it and remembering the good times.

Sorry to hear about your loss Gigi, but I think you're taking the right approach. Remember the good times, and don't rush to adopt a new pet until you're ready. Losing a pet sucks, especially when you've had them for so long, but on the bright side at least you were able to build up so many good memories with her.

My story is a freaking train wreck. Why?

    (a) I'm trying to put together two plots that could easily be two seperate stories. I have the main plot and a sub-plot and trying to weave them together doesn't make any sense.

    (b) The dead guy. I don't want him dead anymore. I want him to be alive and well so I can have good character development out of him. Problem is...the dead guy's Amos' boss and the reason why Amos is doing this to begin with.

    So....yah. Train wreck galore!

I'm sorry your story isn't going well, Link, but I'm sure you'll get past it. It's too easy to give up on it, (which I have a habbit of doing) so here's my peice of encouragement!! :)

Link, writing can be so messy sometimes! When I have problems like that, I usually sketch out a plot that is completely different than what I had been writing, start from there, and see where it takes me. For me, writing isn't about being published anyway (it's more like eating for me --I don't think much of it; it's just something I do with no real intent of profiting or seeking success), so if I can have fun with both versions or end up picking one over the other, then more power to me! :) Hope it works out for you --just enjoy yourself.

I'm just not feeling perky today. I'm proud that I've gone two days without breaking down... That's positive, eh? But I just feel very alone right now. I am trying to think positive. There are only 14 weeks left of this semester (lol...), and only 602 days total until I graduate from college. :p And then I'm going to go anywhere.

I'm also just annoyed that I'm awake right now. I don't have any commitments until 12:30PM today, but I woke up at 7:30AM after a fitful night and finally getting to bed around 2AM. I understand that our house is loud --it's creaky, particularly the upstairs, anywhere you walk, and things echo, but none of that woke me up. The front door slamming woke me up. I usually am up before my roommate on the weekdays, but on Tuesdays and Thursdays I don't have class and like to sleep in and wake up at my leisure. But she's slammed the door on her way out several times (and it's only the end of week two). I know I will get used to the sounds of the house and sleep through them eventually, and I know that moving around makes noise, and that's fine. But slamming the door on your way out... Gosh, it's annoying and rude. And I'm sure our neighbors can hear it. --We live in a townhouse, so we share walls.
I don't know if she doesn't realize she's being loud or if she thinks that maybe I'm awake or not home...? But it's really bothering me. I have difficulty sleeping, and after being woken up like that (so suddenly), it's impossible for me to go back to sleep.I hate confrontation (even if it isn't argumentative) or telling people what to do; it puts a bad feeling in my stomach. Tips for how to tell her to knock it off?

Just ask her nicely imo - she probably doesn't even know she's doing it...

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but my story, that I've been plotting and planning all summer, is poop. I can't tell if I'm an incompetent writer, or if my overall concept is just horrible, but it makes me want to punch everything. I really thought I had something this time. Oh well.

That's kinda where I am. Worse still that I went up to 4K this time! D=

I'm just going to take a break from dear Amos and go write some other story that has nothing to do with mysteries or historical fiction. After all, I have to write something, right?

Mercurial: "Hey, [roommate's name], can I ask a quick favor?" (in a friendly voice, not catty or anything. Be chill and normal.)
    Roomie: "Yeah, sure. What's up?"
Mercurial: "I know you probably don't mean to, but you tend to slam the door pretty loud on your way out in the mornings. I'm a sensitive sleeper and it wakes me up. Do you think you could try and shut it more softly in the future?"
Roomie: "Oh, sure. My bad. I didn't realize I was doing that."
    Mercurial: "No problem. Thanks!"

Would something like that work? :)

Seriously, Merc, this is cake compared to the crap I had to deal with when I had roommates. I'm so glad I live alone now. Planning to keep it that way, lol.

I'm annoyed, because I only got a B in my English Alevel exam, meaning I couldn't phone the three universitys up that I actually really wanted to go to. And I've just got a phonecall today saying that my English teacher wants me to have a re-mark done because he thinks some of us have gotten a bad marker.

I'm p***sed because if it turns out I have had a bad marker, and get the A or A* I was predicted, I may have lost out at a place at Durham or Leeds because of some idiot who can't do his job properlly. Harsh, I know, because people make mistakes, but I'm not seeing it that way at the moment :(

    Ouch!

My brother missed out on his uni place because he got a B, but he was only a few marks off an A. His exam had one of the "unanswerable" questions, so we suspect that may be where the marks were lost, which is an outrage in my opinion.

The exam boards really seem to have gone to shit this year.

Past few nights I've been waking up at 3:28 am. While not nearly as bad as others, it's still annoying. I want to sleep in. 8[

    Work sucks today, pretty much.

I see someone's just brought in their dog into work - that makes the day slightly better.

I'm lucky because I still managed to get a place in uni, I'm just annoyed that I've missed my chance of going where I'd really wanted to. Other's aren't as lucky though, I have several friends who didn't get into uni at all, and some are having re-marks, but it's too late for them to do anything even if they do get higher results because of it.

I just think the whole system has been handled stupidly. 'Impossible questions' and other screw-ups with the exams, combined with UCAS being unavailable on exam results day - it took me till three o'clock to finally get access and check I'd gotten my uni place. Then the uni's have been screwing people around too - it took Northumbria nearly a week to decline my friend (even though they'd had our results since sunday), and in the meantime she couldn't apply through clearing because she was still being considered for Northumbria. She's ended up loosing all her places and going back to college for another year!! It's shocking.
