How petty are Carson City cops? They knocked at the door last night and told me to turn my car around. It was parked outside the house apparently facing the wrong direction. We live in a cul de sac if this makes a difference in the US. I asked him was he joking and he gave me hassle about violating some bullshit, pffft!
@xdannigirl - Yes I totally agree with chicagoliz. Is there a Women's Aid place near you? If there is, go to them. They'll be able to help you. Don't try to deal with this all by yourself. If the people currently in your life are as bad as you describe, then they aren't worth hanging on to. However, if you're just seeing them in a bad light just now, because of how this abuse incident made you feel, then maybe getting outside help will improve your relationships with them, too. Or some of them, if not all. Very good luck to you. You'll feel much better once you've opened up to a professional, who won't abuse your confidentiality or judge you in any way.
That law varies by state. In CA you have to park the direction of traffic but here in WA you don't. Hey, if a cop knocked on the door instead of leaving a parking ticket under your windshield wiper, that was a nice cop. You should have thanked him. It's not his fault what the state law is.
I didn't say it was his fault for tipping me the way of the law - I just would have thought they had better things to do than to drive into a cul-de-sac and tell me to turn the car around.
@erebh You may have answered this already, but let me ask. Is this just Nevada or could you exile yourself to another state for a season? Can't you get a work visa? Why I'm not happy: A gang of kids retaliating against me for complaining about their bball noise and trespassing nuisance outside my front yard, poisoned one of our dogs a few weeks back.
Visa papers are all filed. I can't leave the US but I can move around the states, Hopefully moving to Sacremento before Christmas. Bastards!
Thanks TC, they have it, hence I'm barred from leaving! Now it just takes a year to say yay or nay, they must have some serious stutter in there
@erebh, Push comes to shove, I may have some extra room. Not a condo or even legally habitable, but the roof doesn't leak... in the apartment. (I don't charge for an imperfect shelter.) So you've noticed the impeccable efficiency of the US decision makers? Welcome to the US of A. It could be worse.
That's very kind Doc but I'm ok for a bit Trust me, I've lived in 5 countries the last five years, government agencies are the same the world over
It's been snowing here in Northern Nevada this morning and it's effin freezing but Scandinavia? no thanks
Well, Sir, I hope all goes well for you. If things get unbearable and you need an old fogie to unload to, feel free to PM me. Push comes to shove, I'll run the issues by my other half and she may offer some Chicago type of sense. Take care.
Agh, more drama. If we're not being threatened by a psycho, we're being pushed around by the person that we're trying to help.
Ugh, I love my sister, but sometimes I just want to strangle her. -.- I'm moving in eight days. To Brazil. For at least a year. And she is refusing to come with our mom to drop me off at the airport and say goodbye. When I asked her why, her exact words were "Because this whole idea is stupid." "This whole idea" being a combination of my move and my upcoming marriage.
Strong women scare some and make others jealous. For some reason, a lot of all the posts I've read remind me of a song by Joe Walsh; "Half of the Time." Half of the time you are weak, you are strong.
I was actually posting to Wyr, but didn't hit Post before Lewdog did, thus... In reality this is a generic statement.
@DrWhozit, Thanks for that. I was a little confused too. @GingerCoffee, Yeah, you and me both, but she is a champion sulker so I'll just have to wait and see. At least she agreed to fly down for the wedding in a few weeks.
