Just discovered that I really, truly have to do all by myself. Have spent the last hour discovering how to first, find out that there was a process that was slowing down my CPU, then second, finding out WHICH process, and then third, how to kill it. Hopefully for real this time. Pfft.
My husband is stuck in the mountains, and possibly might not be able to come home tonight. Winds and ice have gotten so bad that they shut down the main and only roadway to get to and from where he works. There might be a detour, but it would take him almost 2 hours out of his way. There have been so many accidents, even the news this morning showed where a snow plow flipped. The snow from last night melted, then refroze and had more snow pile on top of it. Ugh I hate this. People die in road conditions like this.
Yes I live in Southern Kentucky and there is supposed to be a snow/freezing rain storm here Sunday, probably the same storm front. That same storm is supposed to drop a bunch of snow in Philadelphia, NY, and Boston.
Yep. We're used to snow, but spring snows are always dangerous because one hour it's over 50 degrees F outside, and in a few more it drops to below freezing. Melt freeze melt freeze...soon enough that ice layer on the road is a full centimeter thick. There seems to be a lot of crazy weather across the country this week. I have family in Louisiana and they had some record flooding, as did some other family in Alabama just today.
Did you see the article this past week that about how the snow and rain has filled water reservoirs in California? http://www.capradio.org/articles/2016/03/09/miracle-march-storms-bring-more-snow,-rain-to-california/
No I did not, but I heard they were having to deal with flood prep because the ground is so dry, and wasn't ready to be so inundated with rain I'm sorry, I'm sure it was for the best and things will work out soon, rather than not acting at all. It sucks so bad, I feel for her and you. I don't know her issues, but I hope this is a start in a good direction.
It could be either, they're juggling her meds around now, and getting in lots of group therapy and one on one.
Well I hope the best, I know how that med juggling can be, bad thing is, it can take months to find out if they are the right combination or not. In fact, recently I have developed a rash on the inside of both my ankles. I haven't changed my laundry detergent, I don't have fleas or any other insect in my apartment, and I haven't been out in the wilderness or weeds to get around poison ivy or poison oak. In fact I have never had poison ivy or poison oak, I think I am one of those lucky people that are immune to it. The only change in my life is the fact that my new psyche doctor put me on 100 mg of Tegretol XR. Well that shouldn't cause it, since I have been on Tegretol before, which was actually a higher dose of 200mg twice a day. So I don't know what to think of it.
Here is an actually an article saying that Lake Tahoe got 6.4 Billion gallons of water in 24 hours. http://www.esquire.com/news-politics/news/a40707/lake-tahoe-64-billion-gallons-water/
Bosses always give you burgers, by first law of management. 'Enjoy your hamburgers, my boys.' 'Fanks boss.' 'Eat up, get out there, and grease machinery.' 'I can't, I can't move, chief. The meat sweats, I got 'em real bad this time, errr, errr, euch, compensation, I need compensation, sir.' 'Damn you, traitor. Take him - outside and recycle, recycle heretic..' 'But why, chief? Why you get apple pie, we got no apple pie for the boys, chief.' 'Why? Why you ungrateful little bitches, get back to work.'
Oh, wrong thread. He said 'the boss bought me a burger.' Our boss buys us burgers also, Christmas & retirement - but buys himself, always, a milkshake and pudding. I mean that's fine by me, I like him, he's cuddly, Y'know, umm.
I somehow forgot to make my monthly payment of the student loan (well, it's not officially called a loan, but it's pretty much the same) and now I have to suddenly pay it all back at once (almost €800). I have to wait until Monday, so I can sort this out so basically it's like having a noose around your neck and you're trying to balance on an unstable chair... and I won't know until Monday if the chair will trip or stay upright. I also sent out a few job applications even though I know it was a waste of time. I won't be leaving my current job as long as I have that "loan" to pay and I won't get a better one as long as I have this current job, so it's like... why bother. Not happy.
Nooooooooo!!!!!! Can they force it out of you if you Just Don't Have the Money? Well, it's Monday in Finland now. Hope you can get mercy out of the right official ASAP.
Something less serious for a change: Thirteen years ago I went to Costco and blew $300 US on a personal digital assistant (PDA). About 90 days later it pooped out on me. In the meantime, I'd moved to another state. Guy at the Costco here in Pennsylvania says, "We can't do anything for you unless you have your receipt." Looked all over, couldn't find the receipt. I added that PDA to my collection of digital archaeology, and tried not to think of the money I couldn't afford to lose. I'm presently sorting through a box labelled "Unsorted Papers." It's been sitting in the back of my closet since I moved into this house in 2003. Guess what I found in it? at myself.
Yeah I have a touchpad PDA I bought off eBay that when I got it, it didn't work right, and it is just sitting in a box in my closet, a total waste of money. Fortunately my loss wasn't as bad as yours. I do have some friends that have bought a Kindle Fire for less than $50, and they like them quite a bit.
Yeah, I might as well throw it away, but I just can't bear myself to do it. I just priced an Amazon Fire 7" that comes with 8 GB of memory, and add to it a 128 GB micro SD card to go with it and make it 136 GB, for less than $70. I'm very close to pulling the trigger and buying it!
So, turns out the guy who should've helped me reschedule the payment is on vacation. I'm just angry with myself 'cause I have such a leaky brain and I'm angry with the system because, and here's the thing for ye Americans who are vying for a welfare state, it's nice that college is free. It's nice that the government gives you a monthly payment to support your studies, but here's the problem: the money is not enough so you have to work, but there's only so much you can earn (about €600/month), so the benefits + salary would amount to about €1 200 which is not enough because you want to pay rent and eat, it's not like either-or, and you can't work full time if you study, unless you can survive without sleep. So if your earnings pass the "earning limit," you have to pay back a portion of the student benefit (with crazy interest), which I'm doing right now, because now I have a steady income. Yay. Of course, I wouldn't have this problem if I wasn't so goddamn honest. Like other students, I could've just looked for a second job that pays "under the table," but I didn't, because I'm an honest dummy.
