Not if you are younger than 20 :D

What's the age of consent where you are ? Is it 16 or 18 ? If its the latter don't touch this with a barge pole

Am I the only one who thinks it's creepy that someone actually came up with this formula?

It's a bullshit formula, anyway. Age gaps matter less the older you get, so it'd need to be one of those tricky formulas... non-linear? IDK, I don't speak maths. But the threshold for a 'creepy' age gap is much different when the younger party is 15 than when they're 30.

I agree, but it still strikes me as a bit odd or unnerving when someones age preference doesn't change at all over many years.

You should be ok, but as others said, exercise caution and don’t expect her parents to be happy about it.

EOTD maturity isn't really about years some 17 year olds are mature beyond their years and some mid twenties are pretty immature. I'd say if you like her have a date and see what happens - but as other have said don't expect parents etc to be okay with it

As "the boss" said "son can't you see she's just a little girl, she don' know nuthin bout this cruel cruel world"

(an FFS make sure shes actually 17 - you don't want to find out she's really 15 the hard way)

I keep hearing this but haven't yet seen it myself. What I have seen is a number of 17 year olds who appear mature until their true maturity gets tested, and then yeah, they're actually not that mature at all.

Maturity by definition requires time and a certain number of experiences and mistakes in order to build.

Well, if it makes you feel better, I wasn't referring to you, it was more a commentary on the "That's what I love about these high school girls. I get older, they stay the same age. Alright, alright, alright." crowd.

I went to cut my hair today...

Long story short - it looks like shit, and it's too short to do anything about.

Okay, it's not THAT short, but the only way to "fix" it would to actually shave it off.

I've managed to make it look acceptable enough to go outside. It won't look good in at least a month or two.

I've had a bad day. There won't be any punchlines. Just me feeling sorry for myself... so, you know, nothing new!

It probably looks bad to you right now because you're not used to it yet. Change is unsettling.

Just to say... I've had a bad haircut or two myself but it'll grow. It'll be only a matter of time. Haircuts don't change the person.

But you're 21, why are you looking at high schools rather than bars? There are plenty of women your own age out there, I'm sure the conversation would be better.

It looks bad because they did a bad job. It's was supposed to be a normal, straight bang by the eyebrows, but it's uneven AND half way of my forehead. I've had to sweep it to the side to make it look slightly normal.

I'm used to weird or extreme hair cuts, but this is something different. It's just a horrible job on their part.

It might look okay in a month or two, but I'm having an interview to a job this week. I've managed to make it look okay, but the way the hairdresser left it, no one would be able to take me serious enough to employ me.

I'm mostly mad because I described it to them - and they said it was all good and that it was possible, then they start cutting and the only part of the hair that looks okay is the back.

Okay, that sucks. But to put it all in perspective... no one will hire you based on a haircut. You said that you've managed to make it look okay, so that's good enough. Don't worry :)

Or you could shave it entirely and wear a bandana, that way they think you have cancer and hire you out of pity. Just don't specifically say anything to that affect and when they confront you about it after your probation is done, just be like, "Nah, man, bad haircut. Why, what did you think?" Of course this would require you to be morally flexible, but I have faith in you.

I had bangs for a while as a teenager (and I was a teen in the mid-2000s, so picture emo bangs :D) and one time I went to trim them and trimmed them way too short. My solution was to buzz my head. I'll tell ya this: it's way easier to own "Yeah, I just felt like a change" than "Yeah, my hair got fucked up and I'm embarrassed".

(I also did that around this time of year, too. Brr.)

I colored it black/blue, because I always felt like that color makes every haircut look better. It made some difference. That and styling it differently from how it's cut - it sort of looks like it's on purpose now! I almost look like a half-cute hipster girl now... especially with big black bowed glasses (the ones that were reserved for emos in the mid 2000 ;)). It's still an awful cut!

I've cut my own hair plenty of times - and it's never got this bad! Difference this time is I've had an asymmetrical cut and wanted to make it even now. I couldn't do it myself. Of course it was going to be SHORT - but the bangs and sideburns (is that word used with women, or is it called something else?) was going to... make up for it. But he made the bang too short AND wonky - and almost removed the sideburns entirely. And that was not what I asked for!

So, no shaving. Just patiently waiting!

Are you planning on dating this gal* or are you only looking at the sex aspect?

    It's a date, can't that be enough?

Go on the date. Don't have sex. Kissing is fine. And at that age (or any age) a gal might be thrilled if you ask permission to kiss her first.

Find out if you have things in common. Is she a young 17 high schooler or a mature almost out of school 17 year old?

Go on the date, just act appropriately. There is a reason for statutory rape laws. And they apply to sex, not to dates.

[*Working on a substitute for 'girl' when referring to someone older than 16.]
