Some boys are just ridiculous. So on Tuesday, a man died not far from the school, during school hours, in a freak accident. It's Thursday and they said that the police closed the road because of it to try and get out of detention. These boys used a man's death as an excuse to get out of detention! Do they not realise I have an internet connection over here!?
That's an understatement. There's something seriously wrong with that connection. A carrier pigeon could get a better result!
It's 3am and I'm awake. The trouble being so is everyone else in the household too. It's going to be a grumpy day for the kids!
I hate it when that happens. The toilet is infinitely better because with the sink, you've still got the joy of handling the chunky bits that can't get past the plughole.
@Oscar Leigh I draw the line at adding vomit to the Forum Daily Five and calling it the Forum Daily Sicks... Hope you feel better soon! Tagging @The Dapper Hooligan @Iain Aschendale @Mark Burton @Some Guy who were wonderfully witty and delightfully disgusting...but I'm still not adding it!
Get me not started, Sir John! Thou knows I could complain from sunrise to sundown! (fans self dramatically)
*Elizabethan, not then. And knows was used as well as knowest. If you read actual Elizabethan letters, it shows despite Shakespeare's theatrical language, it wasn't all dost and hath. The more significant linguistic difference is the almost complete lack of contractions. There's no there's, or hasn'ts or it's. This makes sense with the generally longer wording used while modern language, and especially modern American, has a greater emphasis on brevity. This is a more significant difference from modern linguistic than the occasional use of antiquated phrases.
Oh the knoweth thing isn't wrong and that's one of the more common antiquations compared to something like doth which is relatively infrequent outside of theatre. Tbh I just liked the opportunity to make a point about how historical speech is often more differentiated by subtleties that have more impact than obviously antiquated words that don't actually make the biggest difference.
You might actually be right about the knowest thing anyway, because although there's plenty of "you" and "has" and stuff, I'm not sure knows actually was around. Double-checking I can't find any examples or suggestions of it's existence (although finding sites that actually care about the dating of when words came in and out of existence can be tricky).
I accidentally deleted my spam email folder, and now I have no idea where to find Asian girls to date.
Liked when I deleted that "great sex weekend" bot message on Imgur. Well, what will I do for fun now?
