Edouard Jean Empain Sexy French millionaire - got kidnapped - and nobody cared so much, and they even chopped off his finger. When he was released he stopped being friends with everyone in his former circle. Some possible 'sub-text' additions to story necessary.
Drummer Vinnie Paul (co-founder of Pantera, Damageplan, Hellyeah) died on Friday night in Las Vegas at age 54.
Gudrun Burwitz, daughter of Heinrich Himmler. “Today we went to the SS concentration camp at Dachau. We saw everything we could. We saw the gardening work. We saw the pear trees. We saw all the pictures painted by the prisoners. Marvelous. “And afterward we had a lot to eat. It was very nice.”
Having met, at different times in my life, two different people who had green numbers tattooed on their arms against their will, her words make me beyond furious.
Lucky for her that Himmler was a wuss. Goebbels and his wife killed their six kids in Hitler's bunker. ETA: and that article is factually incorrect. 11 million people died in the camps, 6 million of them Jews and the bulk of the rest Soviet prisoners of war.
As St. Ignatius is reported to have said, "Give me the child for the first seven years and I will give you the man." I often wonder about people like her, Uday and Qusay Hussein, the people who never had a chance to be good because they were raised by literal monsters. Of course, she had decades to learn the error of her father's ways and failed to, but the first sixteen years of her life were spent as a "Nazi princess." Sixteen years being raised by the most ideologically committed man in the Third Reich, did she ever stand a chance? But good riddance nonetheless.
Shoko Asahara, leader of the Aum Shinrikyo doomsday cult and mastermind of the 1995 Tokyo subway sarin gas attack, was sent to his reward today along with six of his followers. At the time of the attack, Aum was working towards production of a nuclear weapon. Things could have been worse.
Yes, 11 million, but the other 5 mill weren't just Soviet POWs. The handicapped, mental patients, homosexuals, trade unionists, Romany (aka Gypsies), Christians and others who resisted. Besides, the POW camps were separate from the concentration camps, last time I looked at the subject. Anyway. It is chilling to read the words of a child so convinced that all that was exactly as it should be.
I know she has died some time ago, but I was binge watching channels on youtube upon mysterious deaths when I came across Brittany Murphy. I didn't know her death was so suspicious. To tell you the truth, when I first heard about it I was sure it was due to drug use. During her last days she looked way too skinny and somewhat unfocused. When I saw in the news that she had died from some kind of lung swelling, I was like "yeah, right". It just didn't make sense. You don't just die that suddenly when you got a disease such as this. In the conspiracy video, they explained that a few months later, also her husband died in similar fashion, which makes double no sense. People, nowadays don't just die from pneumonia this way or anemia or iron deficiency or whatever! It's just not possible! Even if she were to die because of it, she would have been hospitalised weeks before, because she would really struggle to breath. She wouldn't have been able to walk at all. Then in the vid, they linked their deaths to an old friend of hers, Julia Davis, who worked on the homeland security and a shady case in which she had gotten involved in, during her watch on July 4th. As she was patrolling she said that she had witnessed a number of immigrants, that were supposedly on a terrorist list, get permission to enter the border like it was nothing. Of course she made a fuss about it and got herself in trouble. She turned to Brittany for help and what you know, she and her husband supported her. Later on, they both died from pneumonia? Hm... Although I'm not so into conspiracy theories, this is kinda interesting the least.
Adrian Cronauer, the model for Robin Williams' character Adrian Cronauer in Good Morning Vietnam, has died at 79.
Jonathan Gold, the first food critic to win a Pulitzer Prize, has died at the age of 57. Two weeks ago, he found out he had cancer. Jonathan Gold was known for taking the pretention out of food writing by writing about all types of cuisine and for featuring restaurants of all levels of service in his work, as opposed to only critiquing high-end restaurants or classical cuisine like most of his food critic predecessors. By writing about ethnic cuisine, Gold expanded the palates of Los Angelenos who read his work in the LA Times and LA Weekly, literally changing our taste in food. Food writer Ruth Reichl put it very well: "He gave us the keys to the hidden city." As an aside, I was a fan of his work. As Ben Bergman reminded his followers by reposting it on on Twitter, not long ago, in Gold's tribute to Anthony Bourdain, he wrote, "Bourdain wrote for the people with sheet pan burns on their arms and bits of flour stuck in their hair." Love that. Gold wrote for the average person who loved good food, no matter where it happened to be. RIP. eta: Here's a link to Gold's LA Times obit, which tells more about his work and mentions the documentary about him called City of Gold. The New York Times gave him a comprehensive obit that explains the importance of his work, and includes a great quote by Gold: "“I write about taco stands and fancy French restaurants to try to get people less afraid of their neighbors and to live in their entire city instead of sticking to their one part of town.” Edited for italics and to fix a run-on sentence.
I grew up reading his columns. There's a ton of material...LA Weekly, LA Times, guest pieces in LA travel guides, and he wrote several books as well. I remember him causing a bit of a stir by writing about tongue tacos at some hole-in-the-wall place in a "scary" (my word) part of town. I also have a vague memory of an entire column that was a list of places he loved that were in dodgy locations.

RIP Miss Franklin... Ooooh she's gonna be pissed they gave her age. I hope, for her sake, they got it wrong. Heh heh heh.
