Fairly recent interview here. That man was experimental to the end. https://www.bfi.org.uk/sight-and-sound/interviews/david-lynch-music-sound-chrystabell-cellophane-memories
A tribute to David Lynch by film critic Eileen Jones: https://jacobin.com/2025/01/david-lynch-obituary-twin-peaks As for me... before I knew who he was, I was growing up with his Dune which was roundly maligned but which thoroughly enchanted me, and it's nice to see it has quite a few defenders coming out of the woodwork. Then I saw Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks, etc. I think my favorite of his is Wild at Heart. I saw him speak about 15-20 years ago- he was promoting his Transcendental Meditation program but of course almost all the questions were about his films. I find the TM organization to be rather creepy so it's tough to see good artists getting entangled with it. All the same he was an affable, funny man and I was happy to hear him talk. The event was in Philly so he was asked what he thought of the city- of course he had lived a few years there in his younger years and had nothing good to say about it- "Philadelphis is just a terrible city" I remember him saying. Apparently the experience was quite important in shaping his vision though.

Rick Buckler, drummer from the Jam (a huge part of the soundtrack of my youth) died at the tender age of 69
Gene Hackman and his wife have been found dead at their home. Hackman was 95. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cewkkkvkzn9o
Bless them both. They gave a lot of enjoyment to a lot of people over many, many years, and that's not something that's easy to do. RIP.
Well, this is getting interesting. According to an AP article, the dog was found in a closet, the wife in the bathroom next to an open bottle of pills, and Hackman at the bottom of a staircase. Still no signs of foul play but no gas leaks or carbon monoxide detected. But it appears they were dead for several days. I'm usually not one to be interested in stuff like this, but it's Gene Frickin Hackman. https://apnews.com/article/gene-hackman-found-dead-f6c106e92987aeaaab7b35c1b956a5c8

I am also very interested in this, I want to see what more is found out in the coming weeks because this is a very strange set of circumstances.
It doesn’t mention the dog, but the NM medical examiner’s office feels they know what happened: “On Friday, New Mexico's chief medical examiner shared how the couple died. Arakawa, 65, died from Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, a rare disease that is contracted by contact with mouse droppings, the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator announced Friday. According to the CDC, Hantaviruses "are spread mainly by rodents and are not spread from person-to-person." And Hackman, 95, had heart disease and complications caused by Alzheimer's disease and died from natural causes. ... Hackman's pacemaker last showed activity on Feb. 18, according to the medical investigator, so Hackman "probably died around Feb. 18," with the medical investigator noting Hackman "was in a very poor state of health" at the time of his death and she thinks "he died as a result of his heart disease." It appears that Arakawa died first, according to the medical investigator, likely around Feb. 11, the last time anyone had any communication from her.” https://redstate.com/beccalower/2025/03/07/new-now-we-know-exactly-how-gene-hackman-and-his-wife-died-n2186413
That's so nuts. What i want know is, how Gene Hackman's wife was dead for 2 weeks and nobody noticed. Nobody tried to call her?
They were very reclusive so she probably had few people who would try to call. as regards the dog if it was shut in its crate after a vet visit and its primary carer died and the other had advanced dementia the chances are high that it died of thirst
I think the first thing they’re going to look into now is how exactly did she contract hantavirus. It’s not like they lived in rodent infested, squalid conditions.
