Chick, this is going to be difficult, I'm just letting you know that ahead of time. Fights in RP's are extremely hard to do because they require characters attacking each other (obviously) which requires some working together of the players. With a lot of people fighting it will become that much more difficult. It's also difficult to play them realistically because nobody wants to lose or get hurt. Add to that the complication that the characters must be amenable to the outcome of the fight. So...you can't just ambush and attack another character and say, "I hurt him greviously so GM has to rule him dead or badly hurt" when the other player never saw it coming. In other words, that player didn't get themselves into a situation where they can die...the attacker put them there. Yes, it's complicated. We'll do the best we can with it. Just don't be surprised if it doesn't go quite how you want it to. It is also doubtful that I'll have the time to really moderate a fight the way it should be moderated.
I once joined a forum that was dedicated to a fight tournament via RP posts. If anyone wants some help with the whole outline of fighting another character, I can throw in some pointers, maybe do a small teaching lesson. Anyone game?
Well I put a little faith in the honor system, I certainly don't mind hurting Ben, and I hope everyone else is big enough to take a few hits themselves. Of course the honor system is a two way streak. If anyone wants to belittle themselves in my eyes then feel free to kill Frank and his cronies without breaking a sweat right now and get over with it, but if you want this to be fun AND realistic, please keep your characters human. Thats just my system, it is your RP and I will play anyway you want me to, if it's by official GM moderation of all fights, then so be it, but honestly I do think that your group of players is mature enough to do whats fair.

This would be great if anyone's interested. Chick, this is indeed my RP and I'm dealing with fights the only way I can think of. Honestly, I think fighting is going to be a mess. I think there will be complaints out the wazoo and it will be difficult to follow. Yet I'm not going to keep you guys from trying it. Chances are I won't be able to moderate it thoroughly so be honest about the hits you take. And Chick, I'm just trying to impress upon you that you MUST give these guys a chance. You had your guys just show up right on top of Derek and Reva even though her mutation could have picked up your footsteps. But you didn't play that fair. I didn't make a stink about it...but I'm calling you on it to say be fair to the other players. You have plenty of other RP's to fight an kill on. This is an adventure/survival RP and the focus is not on the fighting...it is just a plot point. Sorry if you don't like how I'm handling it. I do take suggestions but I'll protect what I think the game should be.

Fine by me Foxee, I never said they were invincible, I just want it to be a challenge to write around. Alright then I'll just put up what I learned from that tournament before. Fighting should be handled as follows: 1) The attacker should begin by saying that they attempted to attack the defender, and explain how. They do not, under any circumstance, assume that their attack hit. 2) The defender follows the post of the attacker by either explaining how they avoided the attack or how it hit, and how much damage it did. They can then follow it up with a second action such as shifting into a defensive stance to be ready for the next attack or counterattacking. In case of a counter-attack, the defending player would then become the attacker, and the original attacker does step two. If they shift their stance, the attacker remains the attacker and begins again at step one. 3) No god-modding (duh). Your character can't dodge every hit or necessarily kill everyone in one shot. The fight should be monitored by a GM of some kind (if Foxee wants to appoint a fight coordinator or something) who will make sure both players are fighting according to their character's abilities and fighting fairly, then the player's posts will decide the victor on their own, or the GM/FC can decide a winner.
