"I can try. Can we do something real quick? Ok, everyone start thinking something random and Reva....you say something out loud, but think something else. Let me see if I can do this with a bunch of people causing interference."

 

"Oh, I guess it's time we acknowledged what we can do, so that everybody kows what their allies can do, we are all allies. Like me, I may be changing into something cat-like, but I can also imitate a person's mannerisms and voice, I've been practicing when other's weren't paying attention."

 

"I'll try," Reva said, "We'd better get ready for whatever will happen next." Inwardly she was thinking, Are there NO COFFEE BEANS on this rock?

"That's not a bad idea, Kat. Who has new abilities that might help at this point?"

 

Raylene turned and sat with her back to the outside of the cave. She looked directly at Revaand heard a chorus of voices.

Kat was obsessing over food. She wanted to chase a mouse. Chad had better watch Joey!

Chad couldn't understand why Fox stepped in front of the punch meant for Derek.

Derek wanted to cook his fish.

Fox was thinking about someone named Lonan and how he'd protect the tribe.

Reva...Reva wanted "COFFEE! You want coffee!" Raylene said happily, then realized how much she wanted coffee too. "Thanks for renewing the craving!"

 

"Good job Raylene, you've come a long way since we landed. As for what Kat said, my nervous system is being altered. So now I can sense movement and my body seems to naturally react to what ever I want it to do, before I even think about what I want to do. With the sensing movement part, from a distance I can only sense large movement but up close I can sense the movement of the major muscles in a persons body. I can concentrate on the movement, and greatly increase my ability, but if I move or think about anything else, my power goes back down to its normal level." says Fox.

 

...So, that's how she deflected me..Whatev, I want something to eat, I must be hungry....That raw fish over there is starting look really good, just the way it is...

 

Raylene stood up and came inside the cave for a minute. "I want you all to know that I'm trying really hard to keep this turned off. I don't want to hear your thoughts anymore than you want me to hear them. Please don't alienate me and I promise not to use this against anyone. If I do hear something that I shouldn't have heard, I promise that I will talk to you so you know that I know. The only time I will not do this, is if I think someone else is in danger. I will tell Reva immediately. I just wanted to make that clear." She walked back outside without waiting for a response and decided to start the bonfire. Derek's fish was huge and she was starving.

 

Reva laughed at Raylene's desire for coffee matching her own but sobered when the woman made it clear that she feared being ostracized. Reva looked at Chad, knowing that he must feel the same way.

"Nobody is going to be thrown out of the tribe because of their gifts. Not unless they make it clear that they intend harm to the tribe." Reva assured them.

 

"Well, I don't quite know what I can do yet," Derek said. "But I'll definitely be on that scouting group. I'm damn good at staying invisible in the night."

 

Fox went back to scratching behind Kat's ears. Thinking about plans for defense and scouting. "Raylene should know we don't think she'll use her powers on us."

She stares at the fire. "I wonder what Lonan and the others are up too. Guys just hold on a little longer. I promise I'll come back and rejoin you guys soon enough. Even if it means working together will the man that murdered my mom." thinks Fox.

 

..If he's going, then she best not send Chad with him, no...Should I volunteer?

Chrys looked over at Fox and whispered, "Should I volunteer?"

 

Frank tossed and turned in his sleep as the image of Dan dead, brains lying in his lap filled his vision. The anger, the grief, and the ghostly sound of Queen, it was all too much.
Tonight I'm gonna have myself a real good time! I feel alive and the world it's turning inside out Yeah! I'm floating around in ecstasy! So don't stop me now don't stop me!
He awoke abruptly, sweat pouring off his forehead as he looked around. Most of his men were asleep, except Floyd and Dwayne, watching the door as he had told them.

"Hey sir, have a good night sleep?" Floyd asked casually, noticing him up.

Panting a bit, Frank muttered, "**** no, I had a goddamn nightmare."

"That's too bad, I hate those damn things. What was it about?"

Smalltalk, something Frank could tell a mile away. "I dreamed about the night you ****ing savages killed my partner," he whispered as he got to his feet.

"What was that sir?" asked Floyd, looking back at him.

"Nothing, nothing, WAKY WAKE IDIOTS!" he yelled, the lot of them starting to twist and turn as their dreams were interrupted. "We have us a big day to day, so put on your best face and get ready to look presentable for the first time in your miserable lives." Frank hummed a tune as he stretched out a bit, his mind singing, 'Cause I'm having a good time having a good time!

 

"Yeah you should volunteer as a scout. With your eyes, ears and nose the way they are, you'll be able to sense things quicker than most people would. In my opinion, the scouts should be me, you and Allen. My ability to sense movement would make me pretty good at finding others. Also, Allen and I are both trained how to sneak through area's." says Fox.

 

"I think that for defense," Reva spoke up, "We shouldn't let them know we have firearms unless we need to shoot them. Someone or someones stay in the cave with the handguns ((aren't there 2?)) and shoot the strangers if they try to rush the cave. The rifle..."

Reva paused.

"Do we have anyone good enough to be a sharpshooter? Not Chad...with his defenses I'd like him right here with us. And we shouldn't wasts bullets."

 

Derek decided to but in. One o' those pistols sure would be handy he thought. "Wouldn't it be a good idea to bring one pistol on the scouting missions? In case of emergency."

 

Smith had enough of this talk about "Gifts" he was a freeking rock, and nothing was going to change that. He scowled at the fire, he could almost see his face reflecting back at him. He drew out his hand gun and tossed it to the ground near by. Someone would pick it up. He then tossed the two spar mags over to it. Smith continued to look at the fire, listening to Reva. He'd be on defence then. "They have already seen my rifle no point to hide that." He spoke up.

Smith never moved his eyes from the fire. He had never been one to think of his future but on this planet all of the availible women where right here. Not that it mattered, even the ugliest guy looked better than a rock.

 

Fox speaks up, "Rifles aren't my specialty, but I've done a couple of missions as a sniper back on Earth. Normally I would prefer to be on the front lines, but I want to give my ribs atleast a day to heal before hand to hand combat. Also, I'll volunteer for scout."

 

Chrys raises her hand, "Well, my cattiness is better suited for face to face interactions and, well, night recons. Oh, and I volunteer to be one of the scouts."

 

"Okay," Reva said, "scouting can wait till we've seen this thing with Frank's group through. For now...Fox, you'll take the rifle to a good vantage point and stay hidden. I'd be happier if someone went to watch your back."

 

"I can go, since I can see in the dark and all." Chrys volunteered.

 

"Understood. Hey Kat, follow me." says Fox as she takes the rifle from Reva's hand. She goes until she reaches the edge of the neardy forest and crouches behind a bush. Only the very tip of the gun was sticking out of the bush. "This should be more than enough distance so that they won't see or hear us." says Fox.

Chrys sits down, crossing her legs like she used to in kindergarten, "Aye. I wish I had a book, or a microscope. I miss school." She laments, ...Why did I volunteer myself for a situation where someone might shhot a gun?...

 

After Xare and Chrys left Allen spoke up.

"I don't have any abilities, but I am very good at moving unseen. I will do that if you want me to."

 

"Allen you have had to think quickly and gain people's confidence in your life," Reva told him, "I would like to have you at the fire with me. We need to show them a tribe...everyone who isn't defending the cave from hiding should be at the fire with me, I think."
