Exactly! some days I have all the time in the world...but i can't focus enough to make even a few sentences in a post. other days, I want to post so badly, but I can't find time. i am going to make myself try and finish a post before bed though. that gives me about an hour. EDIT:: I posted!!! Now to bed!
I have a small problem. I don't know how to put it into words, but I am going to try. I feel like... some of the roleplay members are trying to rush things. Rather than play out a scene in a reasonable order, dealing with one thing at a time, some of us like to toss in seven things into a single post (mild exaggeration). I know that on this site you are used to tons of posts and lots of action and 80 pages in 30 days, but I, personally, prefer a more sedate pace. Part of that is only dealing with one issue per post. Part of it is knowing who needs to post next to further the action, so that any one or two players don't leave the others behind. The biggest part of it is being patient, taking the time to make a post that makes sense, proofreading it, considering how the post will influence other player's characters, as well as the plot. I know I have already been very demanding, requiring so many revisions on character profiles, and so I'm not sure if I have the right to make any more requests...But it would mean a lot to me if we could all try and take certain scenes a bit more slowly and carefully. Would that be alright with everyone else?
i thought i was the only one. i hate it when i go too fast when im writing my book (like three events happen in one chapter and i go back and divide it up into three other chapters -sorry guys but i am going to follow the book with my RPG if it ever wakes up again...)
You say that, and yet...look at your post. See how it rushes things? Fan7 should have a chance to post as Maron before anyone starts autoing his character. Tala shouldn't just wake up like that and manage to say so very much. Cassius shouldn't have suggested Hui recruit her - she appears to be a common thief, or at worst a dying spy, why would Hui even consider recruiting her? I feel so rushed in this Rp, I don't want what to do. You guys are pushing and pushing and pushing, and I can't withstand it. We need to go slower. Give other people the chance to post, people who ought to be posting before other people post! Fan7 doesn't post as quick and isn't as on as often, but that is no reason to leave his character behind less than 24 hours after I made my last post. I don't think I'm explaining this properly.
I apologise for taking so long to post, firstly I have been busy again this week. And secondly as most of you will probably know or guess, I am a slow writer and it takes me a while to even get a few hundred words down on a page. I can understand the frustrations of others when it comes to posting and I am sorry for any part of that I cause.
Fan7, that's fine. Personally, I don't mind waiting on a post, especially since its only been like 18 hours or something. That isn't even waiting, in my book, its just a usual time between posts when people have busy lives and live in different time zones. Its perfectly fine.
Well, If this is how you feel about it... If you don't mind, I would kinda like to develop some of the other things that I have planned for Balefore's Arc. Some of them are not directly related to him right now, and would involve other characters. But If I do start writing it up like that, there might be a few, long, slow posts... which it seems like you might be cool with... What say thee! Murasaki_Sama San! (or whatever the equivalent feminine honorific is in Japanese lol )
Technically, Sama is a honorific, it means lord or lady. And san is gender neutral, it just means Mr./Mrs. (sort of, not a direct translation). Only things like kun and chan are gender specific, well, and things like Neesan/Niisan and the like. That being said...ahhh...forgive me Japanese geekness. Right, go ahead and take the time to develop stuff for Balefore. I think that would be a great idea, actually! i love when people take their characters off to the side for a bit and develop some stuff outside of character interactions. I'm still trying to recruit people for that side anyway, so it isn't like there is much else for us to do... Seriously, does no one want a second character? I'd take a third one, but I figure I'd give people a chance to take a second one first.

I actually have my eyes on the mage if that hasn't been taken yet. hehee -Maybe i can tweak Anidaria's character to fit that profile... for those who played spellbound remember my Naja character? thats her Edit: oh wait i saw that the support open and the mag is reserved -drat!... hmmm ill have to do my research as to how that works...
Actually, the mage is also open, Exz pulled out. I was thinking about taking the mage though, because I have a character I used in the first Road RP and i kind want to use her again...hm. Send me the rough idea of your character, not a profile, and I'll check her out. if you thought I was demanding with your first character, wait till you see how bad I am with a second character. MWAHAHAHAHAHAh. ahem.

i think it actually may be my turn to post as Tala waking up (a bit) due to the fact that she is immune somewhat to poison, but i don't know. It would be very interesting to see her wake up with Maron towering over her like that. Oh i am so cruel to my characters...
I will post, I have just been busy. Then I guess Tala can wake up...ehh I'm just...having trouble posting, considering what has happened. Not sure how to react that is still in character and doesn't destroy the entire plot.... *sigh* too much rushing is throwing me off, and I'm finding it hard to get back in the game, as it were.
I think you might be overthinking it just a little. I can't see how you could destroy the entire plot. Just, have Hui react in a way that you think is appropriate, and the game will go on. And more importantly, I will be able to continue the awesomeness that is Balefore... lol jk
actually u know what would it be okay if i did a guy support since you already have a mage in mind mura? i have this epic idea of a guy holding two huge shields lol
Let me put it this way - there is no way that is in character for Hui to react that will allow Tala to join the team at this point. We set this up so we could join the team, but now it won't work, because i have to stay in character for Hui. If he had been allowed to arrive at the conclusion to invite her into the group on his own, no problem. but now that someone has suggest it without what he considers logical support for that suggestion, Hui isn't even going to consider it. have to talk with Keitsu about it. as for over thinking it...i am beginning to think some of our roleplayers like to underthink their actions. alot of what i've seen is "oh, this would be a cool idea, lets do this!" without thinking over what the implications of that cool idea would be. in fact, I've noticed signs of metagaming and autoing, and it is very disturbing. to mention the lack of narration in the posts; its all just dialogue and action, with almost no thought processes, world descriptions or other details. I expected so much better from a writing forum; I guess my disappointment, as much as my discomfort at some of what is going on in the RP, is throwing me off my game. I take roleplaying, and writing, very seriously indeed. I tend to expect other people to do the same, and when they don't, I find it difficult to enjoy the roleplay.
hmmm... from what i've seen of Hui's behavior Tala may not have to "join" the group per se if it is that bad really. how about she could be taken prisoner and dragged along? its actually gone through my mind and it might allow for no reveals if it works for you. Maron could be the guard, which would allow for some interesting interaction between the characters, and eventually Tala would learn enough to want to stay in the group to go to the dragon. just an idea.
Ah, but there is little reason for them to drag a prisoner along when they can just lock her up in a cell at home and leave her behind. Maron is supposed to be protecting Hui, not randomly guarding someone who they have no reason to bring along. See, you guys seem to want to focus on character interactions. You rushed to character meetings, you rushed to forming the groups, and now... there is no substance to a lot of it. A roleplay doesn't have to be just character interaction. characters can be off on their own, doing something valid and interesting that is worth taking the time to post about. things can take time to develop, like the groups...not everyone has to join before they can set out. Its writing practice, not socializing practice. there is more to an RP than character interaction.
Whats done is done. One of the roles of a GM is roll with what is handed to him (i.e. fast plot movement.) There's nothing we can do about what we've already written (unless you tried to restart the whole RP.) Cassius brought up the point that they needed people, and someone who could stand up to Maron might be worth hiring (even if they are a little shady). Hui hired a monster in a cell...why not a "thief"? It might not be ideal but I'm sure you can find a way to roll with it. Those of us still in the game can try and write slower with more personal thoughts and actions (as well on concentrating on being realistic) rather than relying completely on character interaction (though that is what most of us here are used to).
That would be great, actually. More narration would make the posts easier to reply to, at least for me. As for Tala still joining...ehhh. Not right now, but me and Keitsu have come up with another good idea. It will take some work, but it will be worth it. For now, though, Hui is against her joining. But that's fine, no need for everyone to join at once. Gonna finish planning some with Keitsu and then post. then Group 1 can move out and begin their journey!
