This year's BCS Championship game is truly remarkable. I honestly don't think I've ever seen a worse offensive performance, and I had to sit through the entire 2006 Raiders season. If these are the best teams in College Football, I'd hate to see the worst.
I don't really care who you are that is pretty funny! Now Sadly though we have to wait until March to watch Arsenal rol errr play Liverpool! However I think this American here, will have a few things to say: So Here we go! Involving the Arsenal Vs. Man Utd I am bit concerned, being that Arsenal suffered there most horrific loss in August. In all actuality they just need to shut down Rooney. The man almost had his second Hat trick yesterday Vs Man City, if not for the missed penalty, I mean seriously they need to shut him down. I don't why and no Many will disagree with me But I feel Vito Mannone or Sean Mcdermott would be a reasonable choice for goal in this game as Manual Almunia is a bit tense under pressure and leads to his errors. Not saying he is a bad Goal Keep just doesn't seem as of recently to perform where he should be! Going back now it scares the hell outta me that The following things occurred in the Last meeting: Score of 8-2 for sure, Man had 25 Shots and 14 of those were on target while Arsenal 20 and 8 were on target. While there was the simple fact that Man definitely had a leg up, the thing that kills me is that Man only had a slightly greater Possession time and Pass Accuracy!! but in the rest with exception to ohh If i remember correctly Oh yeah Offsides and Fouls, then they Killed! Now I can't wait to see this Match on the 22nd Arsenal will be out for blood and I hope they actually play to there full potential!! And I hope they Shut Mr. Big Shot Rooney Down. Mobhit
no need to worry mohbit...didnt you hear about the new epic? lord of the arsenal: return of the king? thierry henry is back and hes back with a bang! him and rvp will rape team's defenses without hesitation or mercy. (just as long as its not chelsea or everton haha)
Yeah I am very glad they have him Back cause wasn't doing anything for the Red Bull. As for RVP he is an obvious, I think the real question involving rvp is, will he stay, or will go??? On that note I also say this: They Loose RVP, They should Can Wenger's Sorry ass! But I don't fear to much with the exception of maybe Barca he may go. Madrid wins a lot of trophies, he may go there since that is what he seems to seek Mobhit
that was a good goal he scored against portsmouth, scoring 10 minutes after coming off the bench. and i have a feeling rvp will stay with arsenal, he just doesnt seem like the sort of player nasri is or that boyhood connection fabregas had with barca, if rvp leaves arsenal though, then ur team is screwed bro!
Messi got the Ballon d'Or title yet again! He really must be up there as one of the top couple of players to ever play. I can back such a statement up now with my dad's words 'He really is the best I've seen', and he is notoriously biased to the 'good old days' as he puts it!
Town beat Oldham 1-0 thanks to a late goal from Alan Lee. Reading the Sheffield Wednesday message boards for their reaction to that goal was hilarious. Other footballing stuff that's caught my attention: when will Stoke City learn to defend? Every time the ball goes into their area their defenders have hands all over the forwards. On any given set-piece about four separate penalties could be given, and yet they never are. They crowd referees, lunge in, and then play appalling football to boot. If you read this, Tony Pulis, sort it out because I actually like watching entertaining football and not the atrocious fare your cretins serve up. Jonathan Woodgate was a cultured defender until he joined you lot and since then he's reverted to being the thug he was at L**ds.
This was a pretty great weekend of football. 49ers-Saints may have been the game of the season, Tebow's luck finally ran out, I skipped the Ravens game, and Eli Manning went all dragonslayer again Too bad for the Packers and their fans though, they play one truly bad game all season and it had to be in the playoffs. I think they'll get their vengeance next year.
So many fumbles, dropped passes.... it's ridiculous. We shot ourselves in the foot so many damn times, it's unreal.
That's how i feel about the Steelers every week! Australian Tennis Open started today. Always good to have in the background (unless its the female side, then i think i have the porn running again).
^ What's wrong with the females? Shame about the opposite time zones but it'll be good to read up on what's happening in the Australian Open.
Tomorrow should be good, because Tsonga plays. I hope he can put together a strong tournament, and it'd be great to see him take it. I think Federer is winning it though, he's healthy, rested, and on top form. On the women's side, neither Azarenka nor Wozniaki have choked yet edit: Stosur out in the first round... not a good start for the hosts. At least Tomic had his big upset win yesterday.
Football Well, the only other forum I am a part of is the Official Forum of my favorite football team, which happened to be in Premier League (not to surprising) and it happened to be Liverpool. Do you follow football and what leagues/team do you prefer, and why? This, if there is not any, could be a place for some healthy discussions and debates. You Will Never Walk Alone!
Of the Football mentioned in the OP, I support Manchester United and Toronto FC. Internationally I cheer for England because Canada's national team is awful. Of the Football mentioned by Link I love the Raiders above all others, and support the Toronto Argonauts. I secretly like the Jaguars even though they never do what I want (seriously? Mike Mularkey?). Drew Brees is my favourite non-Raider, so I sort-of root for the Saints.
Are we talking about footbal soccer, footbal, amercan football, or football, australian footbal league?
I think it's safe to assume all football from all over the world. But yeah, when I read the OP, I thought, "Okay, are you talking about the football we have here in the USA or what the rest of the world plays?" As for UK football, it depends on my mood, mostly. Some days it's England, other days it's Scotland, N. Ireland, and Wales.
When I used to follow soccer in depth (~2001-2006) it was Leeds United, mainly because of the Australian contingent (Viduka, Kewell etc.) Their demise was a bit of a shame. Didn't drop them because of that though, I just started pursuing other interests. Nowadays I'm more of a neutral.
Initially it looks like a little bit of a shock that Stosur went out; however she does have some weaknesses in her game (namely the non-slice backhand) which can be exploited, and Sorana can be pretty dangerous on her day. Didn't watch the match though, so I can't say much else about it . On the men's side, there was nearly the first triple bagel since 1993. Petzschner was up 6-0 6-0 4-0* 0-15 against Lukas Rosol before winning that set and the match 6-2.
Interesting... Well, at least there are some of you interested in sports beside writing. I am glad, even though some of you "misunderstood" word football I meant real football = soccer, but I'd be glad if this stays all-football thread. Why Manchester United Agreen? Any particular reason or it is just because they have sold themselves the best
Derby County FC, my entire business revolves around match-day commentaries that will be going live round the country soon enough so I pretty much live and breathe football! I follow most major leagues and almost all notable ones in England, including the Blue Square North/South. Can usually be found freezing to death on a saturday in the Pride Park press box, typing away while wishing for a cup of tea and a biscuit
America is a tad closed off so does immediately think 'NFL' if you say football, easier just to say 'football/soccer' considering the number of American chaps and chapettes on here.
