Whoever the Colts hired to place that bad luck curse on the Ravens earned his paycheck. :p I swear, everytime it looked like the Ravens might get back into the game, something went wrong. It was like no matter what they did, the Colts were going to win that game.

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    :)

Wow, I thought that game was going to be much closer than it was. Was that really a playoff game? ;) Rusty? What rust?

You are my best friend ever. :D
Oh, and srs --what a boring game. I was having trouble staying awake in the fourth quarter (although some of that can also be contributed to food coma).

Personally, I'm hoping the Jets pull it off today, although I have my doubts. In a match between the Jets and San Diego, the superior team this season is pretty clear... but a Jets win would almost certainly clinch a SUPERBOWL(!!!) spot for Indianapolis.

Baltimore played a good game, but I expected more after last week's Pats massacre. What happened?

Actually if the Jets somehow pull off a miracle against the Chargers, I would love them to then beat the Colts, just for the irony of it. Afterall, it's the Colts fault that the Jets are in the playoffs. :p

Straying away from football, did anyone watch the US Nationals for figure skating yesterday? I only caught the pairs skating, electing this over the Arizona / New Orleans game (a wise choice apparently --I was told there wasnt much to see).

Caydee Denny and Jeremy Barrett won the gold overall, leading in both the short and free skate programs. Can I just say: WOW! Such a young pair --she's only sixteen, and I want to say he's just nineteen, and they swept the nationals. For those of you who dont know, sweeping the nationals in any division almost always secures you a spot on the US Olympic team. Evora and Ladwig followed isecond. Second place usually also secures you a spot on the US team. Evora couldnt stop crying after she saw the score. For years the pair has been placing third and fourth, but it was never enough to go to the games. Yay. :)

Inoue and Baldwin placed third, and third place usually means you will not qualify for the Olympic team, although it's sometimes considered. The team was considered, but the committee stuck to its top-two rule. I felt bad for them --they did a fantastic job, equal to or better than Evora and Ladwig, I thought. Although, overall, the US team will be better with Evora / Ladwig.

Pairs figure skating is also called "ice dancing" and can be underrated, especially in the eyes of men who dont think it's a real sport, but have you seen the men who compete?! It's incredible what they can do on those lifts --you're skating so fast that a mistep could result in your face spreading all over the ice, and you're lifting a girl who is spinning so fast --her blades inches away from your eyeballs-- all with one arm and one leg. Let's not forget that one leg is balanced on one blade, approximately 1/2 cm width.

Figure skating is an art. Like dancing, it's often all about lines and grace and beauty (to be honest, if you're not physically attractive, you can be disadvantaged), but it's also one of the most demanding sports out there. Every single competitor in this sport is amazing. To launch yourself into the air and spin around three times takes a lot of balance, momentum, muscle, and agility. To lift a woman above yourself one-armed, one-legged equals a long time lifting weights in the gym. To successfully complete a camel-layback-sit combination and move into a pair sit-catchback takes a lot of energy.

And have you seen the death drop? Flying death drop? If you dont think figure skating is a sport, watch it. Try to even contort your body into those positions on firm ground. You'll change your mind. ;)

I love Winter Olympic season. :)

And I wish I had never given up figure skating...

Whom ever may say Figure Skating is not a sport deserves to be walloped upside the head with an ice skate. Dumb bastages.

I mean really, dancing by itself involves incredible exertion (usually) and dancing while balance on a thin blade sliding along frozen water...well, I don't personally know anyone who can do it.

Oh my god, Jets win!!! Incredible effort in the second half. Norv Turner fails again, but Rex Ryan deserves massive credit for getting this out of what looked to be such a bad team. I think their run ends next week though. Still, it's too bad the Coach of the Year voters can't change their votes.

Edit: Also, anyone that thinks figure skating isn't a sport has obviously never tried to do it before. Or skated for that matter. I'm also excited for the Olympics, the hockey is going to be especially exciting with a Canadian crowd.

Colts let the Jets into this world, and we're about to take them out. >=D

As for figure skating, thank goodness people agree! I used to skate 3 days a week for 3 hours a day, and although at least I knew that it truly counted as a sport, it would irritate me to no end knowing that people often underrated what I spent all my time doing and thinking about.

Today was the men's championship free-skate finals. I think the top three definitely deserved it and are now on their way to the Vancouver Olympics. :) If I'd had my way, Johnny Weir would have taken the gold and Jeremy Abbott would have had silver, Lysacek taking bronze.

I felt so bad for fourth place winner Ryan Bradley was so fantastic during his long program; quad jumps!? And he landed each one. He placed second for the long program actually, but his short was so inferior that it wasnt enough to secure a pedestal spot...

San Diego / Jets game was boring too, minus the end. Glad the Jets won. What a long game! :) The Minnesota game was a good watch as well. (Sorry, Gi. ;) )

    GO COLTS!

The Colts created a monster, and we all know how well that worked out for Frakenstien. :p Now comes the time for that monster to destroy it's creator. Sorry, but I'm just loving the irony of this. If the Colts lose, they'll never hear the end of it.

But either way, Saints are going to win the Super Bowl.

    *hisses in anger*

I'm keeping my profile pic of Favre and Rodgers until I can get a pic of Rodgers in the Pro Bowl uniform. :) Then Favre is off my profile!! Can't wait......

    LET'S GO SAINTS!!!!!!! :)

Not only do they deserve to win the NFC Championship more than Minnesota (Minnesota wasn't hit with a devastating hurricane, after all, plus NWO has never gone to the big game), seeing as how Minnesota has had 4 chances to win the SB and LOST EVERY GAME!! *insane laughter* Saints deserve to go to the SB and hopefully win it all. I'm pulling for Colts/Saints.

However, ultimate irony if it's Jets/Vikings. xD And Vikes lost...... but that won't happen, cuz it's Colts/Saints all the way baby!!

However, the Jets/Chargers game was that Cinderella story that we all love, like the Giants/Patriots Superbowl. Too bad the Colts will kick them all the way back to New York!

If anyone has a spare Colts/Saints avatar lying around, pretty please let me use it? ;)

    This is........

    Ow.
    Ow.
    Ow.
    Ow.

Poor guy. Even though the Cards beat the Pack, the only person who deserves to get hit like that would be Favre. :p And by the Pack.

    Multiple times.

It would become my avatar. :D

Only thing more vindictive than a spurned woman is a spurned former football fan...LOL

If the Vikes and NO meet in the Superbowl, I can't lose. Cheering for the old Qback on the Vikes and the wonderful justice for a NO win.

Now Gigi, take three deep breaths and a Prozac...your anger will subside! LOL

    Um, I think you meant:
    :p

If Brees goes to and wins the Superbowl, he name will then have to be considered when listing the greatest quarterbacks ever.

My anger will subside momentarily....... *pops pill*

    Okay, better. :D

It's not that I HATE the guy, it's just.......

Okay, I hate him. But it's not that he's on the Vikings.......

Okay, that's a part of it too. An unforgivable part. *bites back harsh words*

There are several bad points to the guy. For one, he's always been arrogant. Even on the Packers. I noticed it more toward the latter years of his career with Green Bay, but even from the start he's always been arrogant. It was more vague in the beginning, around the Superbowl XXXI time, but became more pronounced, and now he's incredibly and much more obviously arrogant. There are several good QBs out there that are not that arrogant, and no matter how good you are at ANYTHING, be it football or something else, you never have a right to act like that.

Another thing is: ENOUGH ALREADY! All my life (I was born in '95) he has played football, and all my life I have heard the Favre hero worship. In annoyed me when he was with the Packers, of course--it was a worn-thin track by that time. However, now that he's on the VIKINGS, oh, lord, drama! He's football Jesus! He's 40! Wow! Somebody tell these people hero worship is unhealthy. Yes, he's good. I can't deny that, and I do respect that, however grudgingly. But he's not the second coming of Jesus, football-style. And some will definitely argue that there are better than him out there--Montana, Elway and the like.

Plus his celebrations of wins are immature and a little idiotic.

Hells to the yes! Brees must be up there. He MUST. As well as Manning, of course, and Warner (the last one is more grudging), and if he continues on the track he's on and gets better and better with more time, Rodgers is definitely a contender. (Hopefully he plays with the Pack until he's 40 or even a few years over! We love him too much to want otherwise. :D)

But enough of the hero worship, please please please.

I'm just considering how he'll feel if he goes to the SB (god forbid!) and loses, for the 2nd time in his career but also for the Vikings' record 5th Superbowl appearance and loss. Most fans over there of Favre are fair-weather, and if he's not winning, they'll revert back to their old "we hate Favre" ways, especially if he leads them to a loss, NFC Championship and (especially) Superbowl alike. Hopefully, they won't make it that far. NWO deserves it so much more.

Oh my little cheesehead, such strong feelings for someone so tender in age. Wait til you're feeling the ravages of age, those stiff joints each morning and bruises that heal in twice the time they did when you were young. Then, you'll appreciate the vicarious pleasure derived from an old man succeeding in a young man's sport. You're still a baby, and there will be several more "Favres" in your lifetime, but don't harbor malice toward this soon-to-be "has-been" when this is likely his last hurrah. I'm sure he'll sign a football for you...if you ask nicely! LOL

BTW - NO deserves a Superbowl more than any other team.

The only thing that bothers me about Brett Favre is the constant media fawning. To hear them tell it, Favre provided himself stout pass-protection, and personally sacked Tony Romo 6 times on Sunday, and not his Offensive or Defensive lines.

The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced Jets-Colts can be an interesting game. It's going to be fun seeing how the Jets use Revis, if they're going to keep him on Wayne the whole game, put him in zone, or mix it up. Their defense is stout enough to give Peyton some trouble, but they have a worrying tendency to blitz six or more defenders. If they try that on Manning, they're going to get burned. I still think the Colts win, because of their defense. If the game's close, the Jets can use their running game to hide Sanchez, but at some point he'll need to make a play.

Dear God almighty we were awful last night. Antony Kay needs a rocket up his arse after that display last night. Our most experienced midfielder, and he disappeared for virtually the whole 90 minutes, only getting involved once - and he got booked for that.

Time for the Tom Clarke/James Berrett partnership, methinks.

I think the Jets are going to pull off the upset. Since the Colts can't run the ball, Peyton will have to throw like forty times in this game, giving the Jets a good chance to get interceptions. Remember, he through two against the Ravens (well one got called back because of a penalty, but Reed still got a second interception).

Once again, NaCl, you have words of wisdom. You're definitely right about that--I suppose if I was older, I would feel proud of a 40 year old succeeding in a sport for the 20-30 year old athletes. And not a Packers fan. *sigh*

And I would take that signed football and throw it at his head.

EX-ACT-LY!!!!! The problem with Favre is that he turns any team he's on into his team. He turned the New York Jets into the New York Favres, and he's done the exact same with Minnesota. They're the Minnesota Favres, not the Vikings--at least, not this season. He couldn't turn the Packers into the Green Bay Favres, however--it's a hugely storied franchise even without him, and the only team in the NFL that he can't transform into "his team". :D Cuz we're amazing and awesome. You know you love us. :D

Though don't forget, before Farve got there, the Packers hadn't won a championship since Lombardi was in charge. So for anyone under sixty, they were the Green Bay Farves. Oh and you know you'd cherish a autographed football from him. :p

Oh and did anyone else find it interesting that there were three USC quarterbacks (Sanches, Palmer and Leinart) that played in the playoffs this year? That school is producing good quarterbacks left and right.

Oddly enough, I was thinking about that the other day. Is USC the best school for quarterbacks right now, and if so, why hasn't everyone on their offensive staff been picked up for the NFL? I'm very interested to see how Pete Carroll is going to do in Seattle. The Bills meanwhile hired Chan Gailey... why? I guess this improves the chances of Toronto getting the team... but I'm not sure we're interested. We want an actual NFL team.

Have you seen what happens to teams I support? Brees is lucky he hasn't tripped on the bench and broken his throwing arm :p

I can't say I'm a fan of the Packers (or any NFL team except the Raiders), but they have a few of my favourite players- Rodgers is awesome, up there with Manning and Hasselbeck for my favourite qb after Brees, Nick Barnett is cool, Greg Jennings is fun to watch. And of course Charles. Charles Woodson probably should have been a Hall of Famer for his time in Oakland, but I've really enjoyed seeing him rejuvenate his career and put any doubt to rest. I think at this point in their careers, Asomugha and Revis are better players, but based on the plays he made he deserved his Defensive Player of the Year award. I just wish Al hadn't alienated him, and that it ended badly for him in Oakland. He and Raiders Nation deserve better.

Also, any Tennis fans? I've been following the Australian Open closely. Del Potro vs. Blake, and Henin vs. Dementieva were both fantastic matches.

In recent history, USC has been the top all positions producing school. They're like what Miami used to be. The oddest thing is that Palmer, Leinart and Sanchez were back to back starters. That puts a lot of pressure on future starters for them.

As for why their coaches don't always end up in the nfl, I say it's cause they don't want to take the chance. They work for a successful program and are well paid. Though the USC head coach, Pete Carrol has left and I think he's now the Seahawks head coach.
