A strange game today. But one of the better ones in recent times. For the most part it feels like it has been incredibly conservative from both teams at times. The last drive from the Partriots really confused me. Manning has to play the clock now, though NE thankful (unlike NYG) have timeouts.
It has been a very good Superbowl. I'm getting nervous and I dislike both teams... Whoa, was that a mistake by Bradshaw there? Is a minute too much time for Brady??
These forums really need a like botton Love a game where by scoring, you give the other team a chance!
Gotta respect the courage of Belichick conceding the winning TD to give his star player one last possession. At least they got a chance, better than a last second field goal. Had either of the first two catches on the drive been made... This ended up being a very good game, better than I expected. Hard to imagine half-way through the season this would be the final two teams.
Thrilling game. Came close. If that was pulled off, nothing would have ever beat that. For all the bad Super Bowl games, it's good seeing a really good one.
I guess I'm glad the Patriots lost. *shrug* I don't really care. The only team that really matters to me is the Bears.
If you're a fan of the sport, you should care. It was a good game, for the game itself. All those players from all teams train and work so hard. Good on all of them.
One hell of a game. So close. It could have gone either way. And this is coming from an Aussie who barely watches the NFL.
I loved how Mara tried to weasle out from under the fact that they had pretty much decided to fire Coughlin when the team was 7-7, but now he's a genius. "Well," he said, "you know how this game is." Yep. Sure do. I also wondered how Tisch squared his "we love the players and the players love us" rap with the fact that eight months ago, he and his fellow owners were locking these great guys out. Glad to see that Eli Manning won the duel with Tom Brady. Neither had world class receivers to work with, so this, unlike many other Supes, was a true test of QB ability. All in all, a good game to watch.
^ while not Calvin Johnson or Andre Johnson, Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz are excellent young receivers, and Welker has been an irreplaceable element of the Patriots offense for years. Cruz had over 80 catches, 1500 yards, and caught 9 tds this season. Those are world class WR numbers. Fabio Capello resigned from the English national team, apparently over the John Terry situation. This close to the Euros, I guess we already have an excuse if they disappoint. One of the articles I read made mention to a 'racism trial,' for Terry- what does this consist of? Is it an FA thing exclusively, if he's guilty, is Terry expelled from the team? Suspended from the league?
Cruz looks like he's going to be a terrific player, and, yes, he had good numbers this year, but he is not a true gamebreaker...not a Jerry Rice or a Randy Moss. Neither is Welker. Alas, the propensity of the English national team to shoot itself in the foot never ceases to amaze me.
Re Terry, I don't think it's an FA thing only. I wasn't a huge Capello fan, but this does seem quite sudden. In the running, apparently: the likes of Guus Hiddink (not a fan either) & Harry Redknapp. Any others?
Even as a Liverpool fan, Luis Suarez is a disgrace and should be sacked for his behaviour. His racist abuse towards Evra was bad enough, but to snub him by refusing to shake his hand today was too much, especially when it could have drawn a line under the whole messy affair. He's a good player, but he's just bringing shame on the club now. And to be honest, I haven't liked him since his disgraceful behaviour against Ghana in the World Cup.
Though, actually, today's apologies from Suarez and Kenny Daglish have impressed me quite a bit. Hopefully we can draw a line under the whole sorry affair now.
Woo, we won. And by we, Man.Utd did. Yes, you are. ;D I know, it was awful. Although I didn't know the full story until afterwards as I just saw highlights. Did Suarez get any punishment or whatever because of his behaviour? He really should have.
Suarez has apologised. I say apologised. He has not apologised to Evra. And the apology was instigated by the club owners and written by some PR bod. The punishment? He has not been sacked. Which is to say, he remains a Liverpool player.
Anyone who does or does not follow basketball following this Jeremy Lin (pg for the New York Knicks) story at all? Harvard grad who was playing in the D-League, living on his brother's couch until about a week ago, now he's averaging something like 25 pts and 8 ast and scored 38 in a winning effort against the Lakers after Kobe Bryant claimed to not really know who he was.
