First Manning goes to the Broncos, and now Tebow is being traded to the Jets. This is sick. Someone tell me this is all just a bad dream.
My brother, who hates Tebow and loves the Jets, is absolutely distraught. I'm sad to see Manning join Denver, as it means I now must cheer for his failure. The Leafs were officially eliminated from playoff contention tonight. Seems to happen earlier every year. It's amazing how as recently as the 2nd week of February this team seemed to be heading somewhere, and now I honestly can't name a single player on the entire roster I wouldn't be willing to trade. In fact, I'd give a team a third round pick if they took Connolly, Komisarek, and Armstrong. I'd even be willing to take Scott Gomez just so I'd never have to see those three again. Eight years and seven season without a playoff berth. For the largest team in hockey this is an embarrassing failure- imagine the Dallas Cowboys or New York Yankees going this long without a playoff appearance, or Manchester United or Barcelona going a decade without winning any kind of trophy. Hopefully the new ownership group takes account of the empty seats and the dwindling ratings (the new owners are the two largest cable companies in Canada) and act accordingly with regards to the team's management.
I hope the Sox start with a strong season opener tomorrow. I'll miss the whole game because of work, but I'm anxious to see how the team performs. There's a lot of missing players. Fresh faces, too.
Maybe it's finally the Jays' and Orioles' time to shine... Or maybe it's just the 2nd week of April * I'm obviously happy Manchester United is well ahead of City now, but the penalty call against QPR yesterday was disappointing. Oh well, not like I'll care about it should they claim another league championship next month. *Of course if the Jays sweep the Sox it's officially time to panic.
It has been so humiliating. I was hoping Buchholz would give us a win, but there was nothing spectacular from pitching yesterday. As for today, Aceves redeemed himself, McDonald finally got a run (even if he can't bat well just yet), and the Jays won't be able to take out the broom, thank God.
For me, it's like the Leafs took up another sport, new colours, different city, and just kept on playing! It's going to be a long season
This is the team I know. Heck of a home opener! Now all the Sox need to do is practice hard for next Friday's game. We have to win the 100th season game. . . and the opening series against the Yankees nonetheless.
Arsenal are the team to watch from the English Premier League. They play the best football in the league without a doubt. Come on You Gunners!
^ They're not that great of late, but yeah, a bit of a fan here too. Now, ahead of tomorrow's Champions League clash: come on Barcelona!!
Happy 100th Fenway! Put on your luckies, rally caps, or whatever superstitious article you have, we're going to win this game! I'm not usually a romantic, but with one-hundred years behind the team and its historic park, a die-hard fan cannot help getting choked up over the thought. And with what the team has been through the past season and the fact that this is the opening series against the Yankees, such an occasion deserves an obnoxiously, long blurb from yours truly. I'm not sorry Yankees fans, the Red Sox deserves their 100th season win. 'Nuff said.
Terrible weekend for the Sox. The bullpen is unthinkably bad, and the starters too inconsistent. I didn't think the team addressed any of the problems that caused their collapse last year so I wasn't expecting a strong season, but so far they're far worse than I imagined. It's getting hard to watch the games.
It's just as well the game has been postponed. What the team is witnessing right now is much more than the usual lousy start of a season, and the fact that Cherington, Valentine, and the owners had a little chat proves this. I don't think Valentine's a right fit, and neither does a good contingent of the fans.
