I probably watch 2-3 college hoops games per week. I haven't watched an NBA game in probably 15 years. They lost me as a fan long ago.

Manager Simon Grayson sacked by Huddersfield Town. Justified, and it was coming. 12 without a win, awful performances and a lack of fight meant it was inevitable.

To be an Andy Murray fan is to be a fan of misery.

He's outplayed Fed all match, and logically he should win. Fortunately there are no tiebreaks in the 5th set. Even still, I am beyond worried.

Yeah, agreed. I'm a little worried too. But Murray can do it! *fingers crossed*

Up a break. Now just hold serve...

edit: At this point, this means more than a chance at another Major. It's been such an emotional match, the type he's lost in the past, winning it will show how far he's come.

Murray will only lose if his brain makes him think he might. Federer looks so slow on court, has all tourment to be honest. Mind you at 31, What do you expect.

Think Djokervic will win if he plays like the other night though.

If it was Djokovic and Federer, it would be 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 game.

Djokovic has looked beatable at times this tournament as well. If he gets by Federer tonight, I think the confidence boost might help Murray pull it off against Djokovic. I am not biased

Edit: Yes!! I know Fed wasn't his best in the 5th, but still this is an important win for Murray. Hopefully he can pull off the upset on Sunday, though I'll admit after the Ferrer match Djokovic is terrifying.

The other night he was just on his game, and that's what it's about.

The game with Warinka(sp) he was up against a man who would have beaten Murray and Federer.

I'd rather a player be challenged and made to raise the bar than had it easy like Murray. This should have been a three sets to nil win. Federer has not playedf well at all, face it.

Except in tie breaks, at which he is seemingly invincible.

I was actually worried about Murray not being tested going into this match- and even though Fed wasn't at his best he's always seemed to find a way in the past to snatch victory away from Murray. It probably shouldn't have gone 5, but that Murray still held on and put the match away in the 5th the way he did is encouraging. He'll have to be better than he was tonight- he's going to have to attack Djokovic's serve, and he'll have to be as strong on his own serve for the whole match as he was in the first set and a half tonight.

edit: Totally unrelated to tennis, but anyone with an interest in NHL hockey needs to check out the ending of last night's Oilers/Kings game. Unbelievable stuff. The game itself sucked, but that's the best end to a hockey game since the legendary Patrick Stefan botched empty netter.

edit2: Back to tennis, I'm so happy for Azarenka. ESPN tried to raise a stink because she knocked out their next American chosen one, but even with the crowd and press against her she did what she does best at the AO, she won. It's just too bad Li took those two falls, I was very worried after the second, when she hit her head. At least she was able to finish the match, and she definitely showed a lot of courage. If her performance in the semis is anything to go by, she's got another Slam win in her.

I'm nervous but excited for Murray tonight. He's come so far this past year, this will be such a huge match for him. Either way, history will be made. No doubt Djokovic knows no one has ever won three Australian Opens in a row, and this has long been his best venue. Hopefully this final can live up to last year's, hard as that is to imagine.

So far it has been a very strange Australian Open Final.

Not really sure why the first two sets have been so close on the scoreboard.

Murray is playing well, but Djokorvic looks like mentally behind the ball.

Though I’m certain if Djokorvic played better (mentally, thus physically), Murray would up his game even more.

Doubt we’ll see a five setter tonight, maybe not even a 4th if Murray wins this second set tie break.

    Edit

    Very unlucky for Murray.

This said, I'm actually going for Murray now. Djokovic really isn't setting the court on fire, which is why i like him so much. The match just feels funny. But its a final with two of the worlds best, not everyone is like Federer and how he was only thinking of his own brilliant game.

And the quesyion needs to be asked, but why are both mens semi-fianls NOT on the same night. One man gets two days rest, the other one. Stupid not having both on the same night.

It was an interesting women's final yesterday. Azarenka in the end was the better player but I had to feel for Li Na with her falls. Found it amusing in the presentation when they presented Li Na as 'battered and bruised, and a bit buggered' or something haha.

And today's men's final was awesome. I really thought Murray was going to pull through and win, despite him and Djokovic being pretty evenly matched. But then Djokovic just seemed to step it up a gear and there wasn't much Murray could do. But until Djokovic won the third set and was up in the fourth, it could've gone either way really.

    Did you see Murrays foot?

Murray was a broken player, and Djokovic just did what professional players do. Took advantage.

The Australia Open has to be the hardest on the player. Second to none.

Yeah, Murray wasn't the same after his injury, but still full credit to Djokovic- that game he saved 3 straight break points was incredible, he didn't wilt under all the pressure Murray put on him in the second, and he put him away once he had the chance. Of course I'm disappointed for Murray, but he played his heart out, and there is absolutely no shame in losing to the first ever 3x consecutive champion. Azarenka winning and breaking ESPN's heart makes it a little easier to take as well.

    edit: meant break, not match.

Yeah, Murray's foot was...gross. I had to look away aha. But that must've been painful for him to play through so obviously affected his game a bit.

    WOOO!

The new MP4-28 has been revealed and it's sexy!

Can't wait to see it in action in Melbourne. Let's just hope it performs.

The new restriction on DRS during qualifying should help too.

So tomorrow we mark the end of another NFL season. I can't say I'm terribly sad to see it go now that hockey is back, and the Raiders were so embarrassing, but nonetheless it's still a bittersweet day. The only question now of course is who wins the game that matters most: the best team in the league, or the most inspired? Prediction ahead, now with all the accuracy of my AFC Championship prediction!

    San Francisco vs. Baltimore

Simply put, the 49ers are the best team in the league. They have the best defense, and the emergence of Kaepernick cements their status as the most balanced team overall. There are an abundance of ways they can win this game, from putting pressure on Flacco and forcing turnovers en route to a blowout, to hanging in there in a shootout with Kaepernick making big plays along the way. Realistically, the only way Baltimore wins is by keeping it close, wearing SF out with some Ray Rice and Vonta Leach, and, as they did against both the Broncos and Patriots, pulling out the big plays through the air when it matters most. If not for a terrible showing from their returner in last year's NFC Championship Game, the 49ers would find themselves on the verge of the rare championship repeat. Will they find a way to blow it again?

    Prediction: 49ers win 35-14.

Being a New Englander, I'm not invested in either team. But given that the Ravens crushed the Patriots, keeping them out of the Superbowl, I think I;d rather see the Ravens win.

    Huh?

Well the Ravens outplayed the Patriots, for sure, If they also outplay the Forty-Niners, I can hold on to the belief that the Pats were second best this year. But if San Fran whomps the Ravens, the Pats fall back to third.

Holy crap! That 109 yard touchdown run by Jacoby Jones was a thing of beauty!

Power outages are awesome. At last, the 49ers master plan comes to fruition...
