Well to be fair the Colts aren't a team that I hugely care about (of course not being a football fan I don't really have a team that I hugely care about lol)

I'll just have to try and watch it more and see if I can get into it. It's basically been one of the only sports that I've had trouble getting into

Still, my sport is coming up soon so I've got that to look for wards too :D

Soccer starting up soon? I honestly have no idea because no one around here watches it. A sport I've wanted to get into, but not had the ability to.

Well I should try streaming it online then haha. None of our channels in Minnesota will ever show it.

Check out the World Cup later this year. In my opinion, it's the best sporting event in the world, and I think it'll be a good intro to the sport. The US even have a pretty good team. Of course, Canada failed to qualify :(

Yeah, the US should make it out of round one, but the real test will be Round 2. We'll likely end up against Germany...ouch.

Of course they ended up in England's group. The rest of the group isn't that strong though, so they should both get though. I'm just waiting for Canada to make it, and actually score a goal.

Edit: Had to update my profile pic after tonight's game.

I suppose I shouldnt bother rooting for the US soccer team. We're not going to win. Besides, I dont even think my ESPN channel covers it, which sucks.

As far as the Superbowl is concerned, NO played a great game; no one was expecting that onside kick, and they deserved to win after that interception. I still think the Colts are the better team; as a Hoosier and a general football fan. We just didnt play the better game this time, unfortunately. I was enraged when we seemed to give up in the fourth quarter. What kind of champion effort is that? That's right --it's not. Which is why we lost.

All the same, some of the comments on this thread in the past 24 hours have been rude. Really rude. I'm not biased or personally offended because I wont let my mood to be affected for a long time, over a ball game. But seeing as I was flagged because of a joke, I find it really interesting that some of them havent been flagged.

Colour me bitter. I know I'm not a very graceful loser.

I think the difference was coaching. After the first quarter I was having flashbacks to the 2003 Superbowl, which was one of the worst days of my life. But Sean Payton made risky calls, trying to seize control of the game, and he did. The Onside call is one of the best I've ever seen in football. Conversely, I celebrated when Stover went out for the 51-yard fg. I thought for sure he was going to miss, and it turned out that he did. I think Payton knew he'd have to take risks to beat the Colts. He did, and 3/4 of his gambles paid off.

Oooh, the World Cup. Not to scare you in the US or anything, but...

Rooney's gonna get you! For my money, the best player in the world right now. Messi might have the flicks and tricks, Ronaldo the pace, but Rooney is the complete player.

In League One news, with somewhat more prosaic footballing talent, Brighton's top scorer Nicky Forster isn't playing tomorrow. GET IN! He always scores against us, so him not playing is a boost. Come on, Town, do them like we did them in August (7-1, in case you didn't know).

Now we can just hope he doesn't get himself sent off this time.

He's my favourite player too. I don't post much about soccer, because I have unfortunate loyalties, but Rooney is awesome.

Well, like it's been said before, at least you got the full fan experience. Anyway, NO was the team everyone wanted in their hearts to win, the Colts in their heads to win. NO won with heart and it was absolute magic, the biggest fairytale game I have ever been honored to watch, with the exception of maybe 1 Superbowl, and I was 1 when it happened. :D

Tell that to the entire city of New Orleans. They know disappointment, and this is most definitely NOT it.

    *high fives!*

No school on Monday, Mardi Gras starts early and a big Superbowl champs parade. I would love to be in NO right now if it was my team. I would like to be there, but for my first superbowl victory celebration experience (that I'm old enough to take part in and remember :p) I would like it to be in Wisconsin. :D

Come visit me!! We'll go up to Green Bay when it's freezing cold and you'll get pumped up like you wouldn't believe. Or go to New Orleans......just follow the raging party sounds and you'll be there. ;)

Agreen, love the avatar..... I may just have to change mine.......

I don't think he will. He's matured as a person and a player since then. And I have the feeling that if someone's going to take this World Cup by the bootstraps it will be Wayne Rooney for England.

And there are no unfortunate loyalties in football. Apart from maybe Bradford and L**ds.

Manchester United, and of course Toronto FC in the MLS. I agree he's matured, and he's really come into his own without Ronaldo this season. With all the upheaval in the off-season, I'm just happy they're still close enough to have a solid chance at catching Chelsea. As for TFC, I just want a playoff berth.

    Edit, I missed this before:
Thanks, I'm not sure how well it turned out as an avatar because it looks like Drew's got one huge nose ornament, but the fullsize one is awesome. Yours is pretty sweet too. I put up a picture of Porter's return for my profile picture- I wanted the onside kick but I still haven't found a picture that captures it well enough. What a play, and what a game. I have a headache today and I can barely talk, but it was so worth it. Winning is fun

Giguere finally gave up a goal as a Leaf. They lost 3-2 to the Sharks, arguably the best team in the league. I'm actually a Sharks fan, so I was hoping for an overtime game and the Leafs almost delivered. They're still looking like a completely different team after the big trades. Kadri played his first NHL game tonight. He didn't put up any points but he looked good. I think he's still a year or so away from regular NHL play, but he's going to be good. He's good with the puck and uses his teammates well.

The opening ceremony of the Olympics is tomorrow. I'm excited to see what Vancouver has planned, though I don't think it will be quite as elaborate as Beijing just yet. We're saving the fireworks for the Canadian hockey gold medal celebrations :D

One of the more interesting stories I've been following is a problem with the weather- Vancouver hasn't had much snow. From what I've read, they're trying to bring in snow from elsewhere, but what will happen to the skiing if there isn't enough  Not like it would be any better if they hosted it here, we haven't had much either. Who'd have thought the biggest barrier to a successful winter games in Canada would be a lack of cold weather?
