They are very Australian colours (Green and Gold), which means i would have to like them.

They had an Australian Punter at one stage years ago (But thats common in the NFL).

The Raven's got Boldin! If they also resign Mason, that would be a hell of a reciever combo!

Man, the Cardinals are so gonna suffer this year. As if Warner retiring wasn't enough! Hopefully they build through the draft, but how much can you build with such late picks?

Packers resigned Clifton--excellent! :D I think Lang would be a good replacement for Tauscher, but we'll see. Hopefully we get a few good players in the draft, too. Ted Thompson (GM) is NOT a free-agency guy. The only big free agent we ever really got was the amazing Reggie White. TT is a draft guy, and that's not a bad thing at all--I would prefer to get some young guys rather than old ones, and it's worked more often than it's failed.

Jake Delhomme is no longer on the Panthers. It is truly a great day for Panther's fans.

I might just cry tears of joy.

Ozzy Newsom (GM of the Ravens) is also usually a build through the draft kinda guy and I agree, it works more often than it fails. They usually just use free agency to add a little depth here and there. Heck, Mason is probably the last big pickup they've made through FA before trading for Boldin.

If the Cards fall off a little this up coming season, it'll be because of their defense not the offense. As long as they keep a decent O-line and have Fitzgerald, they'll do fine. Plus Lienhart and their skill players are generally above average. However, losing Dansby and Rolle could really weaken the interior of their defense.

"Da Bears" are making a huge free-agency splash....... I don't know if I should be worried about this or not.

Let's face it, Cutler's favorite reciever is the opposing team's defense. (I can rightly and derisively snort at Cutler, since I had both Favre and Rodgers. :D) So with a QB that's less than ideal, I have serious doubts as to a team's success. But they are getting several other good players, and that could make their blip on GB's radar a little stronger.

However, I don't know how far a team can get without a good QB to lead the team, and Cutler is not only awful, he's very immature and not a good person. How far can a team get without a leader? Hopefully all the free agents they've signed will show their age, and won't be a threat. :)

(I apologize for the lack of sympathy, but I just.......can't......feel bad......for THEM.)

I think Cutler is a good quarterback, it's just that the Bears weren't designed to be a passing team. With a year of getting n rythem, I think their passing game will be a lot better. Particularly if they go out and get a good number one reciever, like Moss, Marshall or in the draft.

Oh and the Broncos definetly didn't have a good season without Cutler. :p And it'll get even worse when Marshall leaves.

I must (reluctantly) commend Minnesota on its outstanding patience with the Favre drama. That is, I commend the team on its outstanding patience. (The fans I can't stop laughing at. They're pretty desperate to get Favre back. :D No offense, but he'll make a decision based on what the fans do or not. Billboards and advertisements in the paper where he lives is not a good way to give him space to think things through.) If he had outright said he retired, as he did with the Pack and the Jets, they would have moved on by now. As it is, he is still up in the air, so they are being remarkably patient. If he had said he was outright retiring, it would be a three-peat of the "usual" situation.

(I have so many mean sentiments about our division rivals, so I'm leaving out much of what I really want to say in the view of preserving this thread. Nobody hate me, it's in the blood. :))

I've been inspired to play more Gaelic football by the fantastic run in Kerry v Mayo 2006 on YouTube, from about 0:42 to 0:55. I'm not quite sure who actually won that game, though ;)

Does anybody ever play any of the fantasy leagues?

My dad plays fantasy football. Had a great season, too, since Rodgers was his QB. That guy is a great fantasy pick. :D

Attendance at the DW Stadium for tonight's top flight fixture between Wigan and Liverpool: 17,427. Attendance at the Galpharm Stadium for Huddersfield Town v L**ds United: 21,746. That's a crowd of 4,319 more at a third-tier match.

Also, the attendance at Portsmouth v Birmingham at the weekend was lower (20,456, although tbf that's all the ground holds), Burnley's last home gate was lower (19,714), Bolton's last home gate was lower (21,261), and Fulham, Birmingham, Blackburn and Hull are just a few more of those with average gates in the region of the attendance at the aforementioned Third Division encounter.

We're not a small club. Some of those above us now are. Time to set the record straight about who the big club is.

    From ESPN's NFC North Blog:

My "polite" thoughts: "Even though Chicago and Detroit have made major steps toward building their teams up, this is still Green Bay and Minnesota's division, and when it comes down to it, Chicago and Detroit will have been wishing they spent a little less."

My "real" thoughts: Well, I'm from Wisconsin. The idea of the Bears or the Lions winning the division? I am ROTFLMAO, to sum it up. (Actually, I have harsher things to say, but I'm following my own imposed rule and not bashing anybody. It's all in fun, of course, but I won't go feral on them.....at least, not here. ;))

Heh, just been finding out about the younger age groups at our Academy, and it would appear that a few famous faces have sons there. Br*dford hero Dean Widearse Windass has his son there, former Town captain Lee Sinnott has his son there, and former Oldham manager John Sheridan also has his offspring in one of the age groups.

None of this made me smile more than the news that Town legend Andy Booth's son is also at the Academy. He may only be about 8 or something, but if in 10 years' time I'm on my seat chanting 'Boothy, Boothy, Boothy' at a new home-grown hero I won't care. No pressure on the lad, obviously, but his dad did score 150 goals in 463 appearances for us.

Yay! The Ravens resign Derrick Mason! That's Boldin and Mason as their number one and two recievers! With Stallworth, Clayton and Demetrius Williams trading time as slot recievers. Steelers secondary, you are screwed.

    You probably mean re-sign.

Last night's news had an item about Nomar Garciaparra. He re-signed with the Red Sox for a one day contract so he could resign from baseball and announce his retirement while a member of Red Sox Nation.

Ha, you are correct Cog. I forget that if you don't have the little dash mark, the word changes meaning. :p

Robert De Niro is to play the legendary Vince Lombardi!!!!!!!

I seriously can't wait to see this movie. It's gonna highlight Lombardi's career with the Packers!!!

I am so excited. Plus the screenplay is being written by the same person who wrote the screenplays for Forrest Gump and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, so you know it'll be good. :)

I wonder who they're gonna get to play all the players..... *excitement* :D

De Niro better understand the significance of who he's playing. If he screws Lombardi up, there will be many many outraged Packer fans (myself included). Hopefully he does his research on this role and how important Lombardi is to Green Bay, the Packers and the whole NFL.

Just watching the IPL T20 cricket tournament. Not watched T20 for ages, and I'm enjoying the cricket, even if the coverage isn't great and the whole thing is set against a backdrop of too much advertising.

*crosses fingers* LT to the Jets, LT to the Jets, LT to the Jets......

Yes, I know he's aging, and may slow the Vikings down. But I can't take a chance on him possibly having a great "comeback" season with them. It's better if he excels for the Jets, and if he doesn't, well...... too bad for them, but the Vikings aren't winning the division anytime soon, not again. :)

Sniff. I watched the Formula 1 race (probably the first time in my life I actually watched racing) in Bahrain and the one I was rooting for, Sebastian Vettel, didn't win. Sniff. Just because of his stupid exhaust having problems. :(

LT to the Jets. Not sure I like the move, I think Jones has more left in him. Denver adds Brady Quinn. I await the interceptions...

Welcome to the world of Formula One and the Redbull Racing Team.

Note, Shumacher once won a race with only 5th gear (yes). Vettel, if he didnt panic early could have still actually got himself a podium finish (if you noticed his lap times were getyting better by the end of the race).

ANYWAY, I'll be going to Melbourne to wwatcjh the F1's for a few days. I always enjoy the early rounds, until it becomes slighty predictable.

Brady Quinn isn't a bad quarterback. He's probably the main reason the Browns got any wins last season. I think them letting him go and picking up Delhome was a bad move. Though Quinn will likley be a back up to Kyle Orton for the time being.
