Only played 13 games all season. What I was more worried about was having Upson in there ahead of Dawson. Why is a player who's been out of form for his club (which battled the drop) in ahead of a player who's had the best season of his career in a side that's qualified for the Champions League? And not Scottish are you?
Brewers recently lost 8-0. It's so damn PAINFUL to watch them suffer through 9 innings and not be able to do a damn thing! They better get their act together soon!
The Sheffield United chief executive has released an extremely bitter press statement about Gary Naysmith leaving them in favour of us. He basically belittles us and Naysmith, and says 'Naysmith's the ONLY big signing they'll be able to make'. Must have missed Scott Arfield and Joey Gudjonsson joining. The arrogance he shows is gobsmacking, but really funny for the fact he's a clueless buffoon, and has forgotten that Sheffield Utd are skint.
That's hilarious. I wish general managers over here would start rows in the media with other gms who sign players from the team. The Burke/Lowe feud was glorious.
The guy's failed to grasp why Naysmith joined us, which is why it's so brilliant. He's not joined us because he's unambitious, or because we're offering better wages or anything like that. We've offered a two-year deal, whereas a one-year deal was on the table at Sheffield United. Probably very similar terms, but the security of a second year has tipped it in our favour. Also: rumours about fan favourite Jon Stead making a return, 6 years after leaving for Premier League football. If that happens, I'll be dancing on rooftops in jubilation. The boy's class, and a Huddersfield lad through and through. Update: Ipswich reports saying that we're in talks with the lad. Come home, Steady! Come home!
My three nations for the 2010 World Cup are the USA, Algeria and Slovenia. What's that you say? They're all in the same group as England? Really? Never realised that - what a bizarre coincidence!
Amazing amazing game. 3-0 win over New England. All in their half. Beautiful plays, beautiful goals, beautiful game. Honestly, you can't play much better than that
Absolutely amazing game, and man did they need that win!! Hopefully they can keep the momentum going for their game this week.
I hope USA too. And holy guacamole, my Packers are getting in trouble! Jolly's trial got pushed back and he may be in serious trouble, and now Underwood getting in trouble too. Hey boys, you play for one of the most prestigious teams in American professional sports, and a team that ESPECIALLY PRIDES ITSELF ON THE PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DECENCY AND GOODNESS OF ITS PLAYERS. You play for this team, and you better ****ing believe you're gonna be held to a higher standard than most teams. Absolutely unexcuseable.
Definately. I really really hope they beat DC especially since DC has been having such a horrible season.
Brewers currently 3-1 vs the Cubs. So when they lose, it'll be doubly humiliating because they're THE CUBS. Our rivals who haven't won a World Series in over 100 years. And yet I keep watching, because apparently I can't take my eyes away from a train wreck.
terrible defense las night, terrible! If it weren't for the fantastic goals by Montero and Riley in the last few minutes I would say the gmae over all was horrible. however fantasic goals still can't completely compensate for the fact that we lost 3-2 to DC who played quite well but that their win (I believe0 was due more the sounders failure in defense then their truimphs. All three of Pontius' goals were good, but he shouldn't have been able to take any of those shots in the first place, and that was the fault of the defense. I don't know why the defense was so bad last night because we have on of the strongest in the leaugue... Well I must say Ljunberg however played a fantastic game, the offense in general did actually so props to them. Now though i get to watch the World Cup!! I'm so excited, I can't wait for the USA vs England game ei ther, it's going to be epic
They did a segment on The Daily Show last night where the Senior British Person, John Oliver (yes, he's actually from England) did a report from the USA team's training grounds. He couldn't say "USA soccer team" without bursting out laughing (joking, obviously; it was hilarious). Then the USA played a game against the Czech Republic and turned out to be pretty good, and his mouth dropped open. Whole thing was a joke, but it was funny. I love the USA soccer jokes for some reason. In all seriousness, I am gonna be watching and cheering; can't wait for the World Cup!!!!
Yay! GO ENGLAND! Also, regarding Queen's tennis, Nadal just got beaten by Lopez, and Murray got beaten by Fish earlier.
John O occasionally appears on Radio Five Live comedy panel show Fighting Talk over here, and it generally pretty good. Often gets ribbed for selling out to the US money Anyhoo, opening game of the World Cup, and all I have to say is TSHABALALA! What a goal that was, glorious through ball inside the full-back and a sensational finish. Shame Mokoena wasn't switched on and played three Mexicans onside for the equaliser. And that was followed up by a terrible match between France and Uruguay. France were so boring and negative, and Uruguay little better. Uruguay had the first man sent off this World Cup (shocking, that - because they've not got a reputation for being a little cynical, rugged, etc) for a terrible challenge on Sagna, which would have been a straight red on its own had he not been booked for a minor indiscretion earlier. Tomorrow sees Groups B and C kick-off. Top of the bill: England v USA.
Ah it was a great goal, and I liked the little celebratory dance they did. England vs. USA today! Come on England!
My dream of an all draw/penalty kicks World Cup is still alive after day 1. I can live with it ending today, but only if England wins. I am hoping for at least one Rooney goal.
I have to go to my aunts' house today. I do, I do, I do love my aunts and I am excited to see some family that came from Texas, but we will be leaving fifteen minutes before the USA-England game begins. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. "Oh, just tape it, honey," my mother says nonchalantly. "You can watch it when we get back." "No, Mom. No. You just dont understand. Sports games always suck when they've already. happened." Not to mention the fact that you practically have to isolate yourself from society from the time the game begins to the time you actually get to watch the game yourself. My bets are on USA this match. I dont think Team USA will dominate the World Cup (I dont really want them to, anyway), but I've heard that England's team isnt as daunting as it has been in the past, and that this year's team is certainly beatable.
As daunting as it has been in the past? When precisely was it daunting? We won't be winning the Cup this year, is my prediction. We'll wipe the floor with the US, though.
Yes, yes, and I'm not so sure. I saw the US at the Confederations Cup last year, and they were very tidy. On this afternoon's match, do all African sides employ this system of not marking on set-pieces? And will someone please tackle Messi!
