I've been watching TUF, and I'm pretty excited about that fight as well. Koscheck's face, when his fighter lost the first fight of the latest episode, was priceless.
Amen, man. His team in their locker room afterward...beautiful. I'm so excited to watch GSP destroy him...Koscheck is so cocky, it's nice to watch him being taken down a few pegs.
I take kung-fu, so I'm a fan of UFC. Does anyone likes UFC fighters? I like a few of them, not good wth names. I fought in kung-fu arts in lightweight classes. I like horse shows too, like racing, jumping and barrels.
I think it's going to look a lot like their first fight- very close, GSP will probably get taken down once or twice, but still take a decision. Hopefully all of the trash talk and pranks will put some aggression back in GSP, but lately he seems content to fight for the decision. I'm stoked for this weekend's card, might be the best of the year. I can't stress enough how good the Shields/Kampmann matchup is- both are well rounded, technically solid fighters capable of beating just about anyone. I give the edge to Shields because of his wrestling and ground game, but it should be a very interesting fight. Sanchez/Thiago is another interesting fight, both of them are coming off loses, and Sanchez especially has to be running out of chances. I think the Kampmann fight provides a blueprint for beating Thiago, but it'll be interesting to see how successfully Sanchez can implement it, he's not as good a striker, and I'm not sure he's as big or strong as Kampmann. Tito/Hamill is a bit questionable, just because at this point Tito is so questionable. He's clearly not the fighter he was in his prime, but what is he? Lately he's looked like a wrestler who can't shoot. About five years ago, this would have been a fight I think Tito takes, but now I think it's Hamill's to lose. The first fight too is interesting in terms of storyline. Surely Gonzaga has to win? If he doesn't, this could actually be the last we see of him in the UFC. And Schaub is dangerous enough to beat him. But I think Gonzaga will take it. And then we get Gonzaga/Nelson, and all is right in the UFC.
I didn't get to see the fight, unluck me. Nelson, really? A about an month ago I saw Miller fight someone, forgot the other name. Never been good with name.. But the fight went on for awhile, and normally Miller get trys to get it over and not stays on the floor. Once I fought in my kung-u arts, the guy was 6,2. But his weight was in my group, he was skinny but he gain more weight. We kicked each other around the ring. But I rather watch UFC then boxing. Boxing is so unreal...
Last time I saw Miller fight on cable, he was against Sakuraba on a Dream card. Mayhem took care of him rather quickly. Still, I have much respect for Saku. I was also at the Strikeforce event where Miller fought Shields. I was really rooting for Miller, since it didn't seem like Shields was doing anything beyond controlling him on the ground. I hope it's not more of the same with Jake vs. Kampmann. When Kampmann first showed up in the UFC, I really thought he was going to win a title eventually. Unfortunately, he hurt his leg, and that seemed to take something out of his game. However, with the drop in weight, he's been looking better, aside from the loss to Daley. There are also some pretty interesting fights on the UFC 121 undercard. Cote vs Lawlor has potential for some fireworks. And I'm curious to see how Court McGee does. Plus, I think the Sam Stout vs Paul Taylor fight is a strong one as well, hope it gets shown on Spike or the PPV. Have they finalized the Roy Nelson vs Shane Carwin fight yet? I think that was supposed to be his next one, on the New Year's day card.
Yeah, Miller take it quickly. I don't get to watch it a lot, like I wish too. There was a deaf guy fighting my friend told me about, forgot his name through. I wish I was better at names... But the deaf is really nice and hopefuly he wins it. What is your favorite type of fighting style? Kung-fu and so so...
After the slow start, tonight's last 3 fights were all fantastic. Credit to Sanchez for outlasting Thiago, the 2nd round especially was the fight of the night. Kampmann has no one to blame but himself. He had Shields hurt and exhausted, but didn't capitalise. Keeping it on the ground in the 3rd may well have cost him a chance to finish the fight standing. As for the main event, Velásquez could be champion a long time. Only thing he lacks is size, but his wrestling technique made up for it tonight. Due to camera angles I'm not sure I saw the shot that cut Lesnar- I wonder if it was the short punch off the scramble that hurt him and led to his hilarious bout of tumbling.
Yah, thoughts on tonight's fights. . . . Lawlor won in a safe way, which I wasn't expecting. Good for him, but bad for the usual excitement level that his fights rise to. Major props to Court McGee for weathering that first round and coming back. Regarding the Gonzaga vs Schaub fight, I don't think Gonzaga looked like his usual self. He was very tentative. Maybe it was due to that Carwin fight, who knows. Tito fought harder than I've seen him fight in years. Still, I'm glad that the Hammer won. And Diego "No longer the Nightmare" Sanchez fought, and won, a very entertaining battle with a game Thiago. This next one just reeks of a setup to me. Why, oh why, did Kampmann, who is a better striker than Shields, continue to grapple with him? This leads into one of my major gripes with Shields. He didn't really do any damage to Kampmann, but just controlled him. I agree there should be points for that, but Kampmann hit him with some good knees. I think Jake was even bleeding a little. Plus Kampmann attempted a number of chokes. Oh well . . . *deep breath*. . . . Either way, I don't think Shields deserves a title shot after that. The Brock vs Cain match-up was a battle where the Champ's wrestling was nullified and the more, well-rounded fighter took the victory. Anyway, I'm pumped to see the Junior Dos Santos vs Cain Velasquez fight now. P.S. Did anyone catch the highlights from Ken Shamrock vs. Johnathan Ivey? I don't know how to describe it other than the fat-guy, backward-rolling up-kick. Then he did it again. Ivey is now one of my heroes, even if he did lose.
Kampmann seems to let the flow of a fight get the better of him, like against Paul Daley, a fighter he should beat. But yeah, MMA judging is slanted way too heavily in favour of wrestling. Until it changes, we'll continue to see decisions like the Shields one. Even with one of the best fighters in the world in GSP, he's learned he just needs to secure a takedown and remain on top of his opponent for five rounds and he'll win every time. Submission attempts and aggression from the back seem to count for nothing. Based on tonight's performance, GSP would have a good shot at KO'ing Shields standing. He looked lost every time he didn't have a grip on Kampmann.
"Walk on, walk on, With hope in your heart! And you'll never walk alone! You'll never walk alone!" Liverpool 2 - 1 Blackburn At bloody last, some good news!
I don't even know where to start on today's Raiders-Broncos game. It's like I'm dreaming. 38-7 at halftime. I can't even remember the last time I knew the Raiders had a game won before the half. And it's in Denver. Every boo and chant for Tebow is music to my ears. Best game of the last 7 years.
Wow, Agreen. What a massacre. Seriously. Gymnastics world championships were today. Figure skating worlds are next weekend, I think. I didnt get to see most of the gymnastics today, but the bit I was able to watch was spectacular.
I'm honestly still in shock. If anything this proves the team has some real talent. Now they just have to show it on a consistent basis. Run DMC is absolutely ridiculous, and Bush had a strong game. Everyone had a strong game. Except the Broncos I actually feel bad for most Denver fans. McDaniels has run their team into the ground, and with neither of Elway or Shanahan around to save them, they are a bad team and could be for years.
Voldemort FC 0-4 Some Welsh Lot With A Silly Celebration. Very entertaining to watch the Mighty ****es get gubbed 4-0 at the big yellow skip. Thought people might want to know that.
Packers beat the Vikings, Packers beat the Vikings! *dance, dance* I was seriously so nervous going into this; not because of any faith issues in my boys, even though we're seriously injured ( ), but because this was a game we just NEEDED to win in so many ways and I didn't even want to consider the possibility of a loss. We needed to beat the Vikings to level with the Bears, give ourselves confidence and at last clear that great hurdle of beating Favre. I know Rodgers has to feel good after beating him; it must feel like a hurdle to overcome. I know how I feel as a fan, and I feel fantastic. I was seriously praying this whole game that we would win, so thank God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit that my prayers were answered! Thank God Harvin's (I think it was Harvin) foot was out of bounds on that penultimate throw--my heart dropped when it was caught. Thank God Favre threw a little high on the last throw, and tripped to boot. And THAT is the protection I would like to see. This year's protection on Rodgers was so much better--when he has time to throw the difference is markable. And that is the best our run game has looked in a while. I am very happy.
Latest from the friendly between Huddersfield Town and Liverpool is that it's 1-1 after 35 minutes. Nathan Eccleston scored after 2 minutes for a strong Liverpool side, only for Boom Boom Jamie McCombe to level for Town. 2-1 Town! Nathan Clarke with the winner!
Leafs won 3-1 tonight. For the first time all season they finally had a controversial call go their way- the winning goal probably shouldn't have counted due to goaltender interference from Colton Orr. Then again, if we're keeping score the Panthers' goal shouldn't have counted for the very same reason. They also injured one of our players with an extremely dangerous two-handed slash to the arm. So I have no pity for them. Besides, Philthy Phil scored an absolute beauty with a couple of minutes left to secure the win anyway. I don't think the team played very well tonight, but a win is a win. Better than the Islanders game in which they dominated the opponent and were robbed. We were due a call, and finally got one.
I never thought I'd see the day when a team went out with a gameplan purely to get someone sent off, but I saw it today. Take a bow Walsall FC, you utter disgraces to football. 20 minutes gone, long Ian Bennett clearance. Town striker Alan Lee and Walsall defender Emannuelle Smith challenging for the ball. Twice before this has happened, and twice Smith has been physically assaulting Lee. Same goes on this time, Smith having two hands on Lee's shirt and one knee in his back. Suddenly, Smith collapses, clutching his face. Across wanders the retard in the middle, brandishing a red card. Lee sent off. On comes the Walsall physio, who has a word with Smith on the ground (Smith requiring no treatment). They wander off to the side off the pitch, where the physio pulls Smith towards him, embracing him in clear congratulations. To put orders on a player to take a dive and con an already imbecilic referee into sending off your opponent is as dirty a tactic as I've ever seen. It smacks of a team who don't think they can win in an fair way. It's low, cowardly cheating. Justice was done. Town won 1-0 to leap into the automatic promotion spots. Walsall are now bottom of the league. After today, I hope that's where they stay.
I am beginning to forget what goals look like. At least, goals for the teams I like Also Cleo Lemon is almost half as bad a quarterback as JaMarcus Russel. That's really, really bad. Single-handily loses games bad. Hopefully the Raiders can salvage the weekend. If they show up with even half the effort of last week, Seattle is a beatable opponent. Of course if they show up with their normal game after a win effort, they'l find a way to lose 59-14.
The Grand Prix of Japan for figure skating is for another hour on NBC, everyone. Ladies' free skate just wrapped up, but I think the men and maybe pairs are going to be on for this next hour. I missed most of the ladies' free (not concerned; I much prefer men's competitions anyway), but lucky for me, my mommy is recording it. Rachel Flatt, of USA, earned a second. I dont understand why she does so well... These few months after the Olympics havent changed much for her; technically she's very good, which I suppose is what carries her, because she's artistically repulsive and has a bad attitude to boot. /sigh Very excited to see the men's free skate though. xx Edit: Wow. Japan's Yuzuru Hayku, the reigning junior champ returning as a senior... he looked exhausted by the end of it, but holy cow! From the opening quad to the final triple salchow, what a performance! Like American Mirai Nagasu (who I dont think was here; bummer!), he has just proved to the world that he is definitely someone to watch, for sure.
