Woah there. Joined a long time ago (five or six years now?) and posted a good bit. Then I got distracted and left for quite some time. Although, in the years between, I've come back as a lurker time and time again because this site is just too damn good to ignore. I'd like to think I've improved as a writer since then. I've certainly finished more projects in the meantime. But now I think it's time to get back here and be more involved. You know, actually contribute to conversations instead of just eavesdropping from behind the bushes. Though I never really left, I guess you could say I'm back. Until I get lazy again, that is. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Hi everyone! Miss me? I sure missed you! Ok, not all of you, but you get the point I'm happily moved to the coast, loving my new home, and my novel in progress has just officially passed 40,000 word mark, yay! I'll try to drop in whenever I'm bored, so don't be a stranger. Mwah!
Hi @jazzabel. I was just wondering the other day, if you were still around or had given us all up for lost...! Welcome back.
@jannert : So sorry to disappear like that, everything was happening all at once, moving, sorting out the new property, selling the old, relocating the business, Christmases (multiple ones in my house, lol) and then everyone coming to visit, it was madhouse for a while Finally we are back to our routines. Thanks for the lovely welcome, I hope you've had great holidays @EdFromNY : Thanks Ed! I'm on the Isle of Wight, pretty much surrounded by the coast, beaches and incredible history. We are renting until we explore the island and decide exactly where to buy the house. There are so many options, and the beaches are so different! Can't wait for the warm weather, it's been very rainy and windy so we haven't been to too many places yet Hey @obsidian_cicatrix thanks so much! Good to see you again
@EdFromNY : Haha, funny you mentioned that, I had no idea there's an IoW in the US until yesterday. I was looking for dog rescue centres on the island and ended up on a facebook page of one, until I realised the phone number looked weird. Then it clicked. So yeah, I'm on the UK one What's the US IoW like, have you been?
No, I only know that it's (just barely) off the coast of the Delmarva Peninsula (so called because the peninsula is apportioned among three states - Delaware, Maryland and Virginia; must've been done by committee). There is also an inland town in Virginia called Isle of Wight, which makes no sense to me whatsoever. Maybe it was founded by a homesick colonist. Then again, in the US there are something like six places called Dover.
@EdFromNY : Haha, yes, although not as weird as four US towns called Belgrade, which is otherwise a capital of Serbia And some towns that are absolute dumps in the UK have very swanky namesakes in the US and Australia. It was very strange getting to know real Brunswick and Fitzroy, once I moved to the UK. They try to copy landmarks, which makes it even more bizarre. Just checked out some pictures of IoW, Virginia, and I have to say, the UK one is a lot prettier
Welcome back @jazzabel, and congrats for the new home and the progress you've made with your manuscript. That's awesome
Thanks @KaTrian! On that note, I better go back to it, it's funny how time flies when I'm on the forum
Hey guys! I'm getting ready to leave the University (sad goodbyes >_<) and my internet connection will be iffy for the next little while. I'll be on when I can, but if you wonder where I am over time, I'm making a new life in CO. @Aled, I will have Recovery back to you ASAP! This is it for another chapter. See y'all around.
That's exciting. I hope you get reconnected soon. I was just about to send you a special congratulation. I attended an ACLU talk today about the racism in the justice system and the school to prison pipeline. Not only have you succeeded and gotten through college, you did so with the deck very heavily stacked against you from the get go.
Thanks so much Ginger, I haven't graduated yet, though. I have a couple more years. I'll be transferring though so this is m farewell to ASU. Either way, I appreciate the warmth and I do hope to be on frequently enough. We'll just have to see. Until then, À bientôt tous mes amis! Je vous aime.
Michigan has a town called ...Pompeii. Go figure.... (Local pronunciation ...Pompey Eye. Nope. Kid you not.)
You're not leaving us, are you? Oh dear. That's my morning puzzle guy away. Anyway, hope you return soon?
I wasn't sure if you'd finished, I know you were having all those troubles with financial aide. But you will. So consider the congratulation is just a bit early but still applicable. Lo siento, pero no puedo leer francés.
Best of luck. Andrae. I hope you are able to return to us soon. I know this has been a difficult matter, and hope the way forward is less turbulent.
