The treatment of women in lterature

    So when you said

    "Ask me to spot Ford's driving past my house and it will become a world of Ford's"

    you were referring to yourself - to the fact that you're reading books by men and therefore to _you_, it's a world of books written by men? That would make sense, yes.

    But to people who read books by men and woman, this is a world containing books by, and about, men and women. (Of course, there are a non-trivial number of books written by men about women. I don't know if you read any of those or not.)

    What about a show like Castle.

    Yes the main character is a Richard Castle, but his 'partner' is Detective Kate Beckett, who is shown to be a tougher character than him a lot of the time.
