The "What Does Your Account Name Mean" Thread

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Scarecrow28, Jan 18, 2009.

Mine comes from Matthew Reilly's Scarecorw series. It was one of the first thriller books I read aside from Clive Cussler stuff and Matthew Reilly has had the biggest influence in terms of my action writing. The 28 is just because my birthday's on the 28th of September.

AnonyMouse because everyone on the internet operates in anonymity. Lots of people use that as an excuse to act ike a jerk, so I tagged on the "-mouse" to suggest I'm not here to cause trouble. Just a harmless mouse, don't mind me. Not to mention it's just a bit of clever word play.

Mine's just plain silly/awesome XD. I just wanted a name no one else would have so I thought of the most ludicrous one that came to mind.

I used to fence sabre, and a sabre fencer is called a sabreur. Hence my name.

Kratos is the name of my favorite character from one of my favorite video games, Tales of Symphonia. Often he is my avatar, but not now (it's now Dante, from the Devil May Cry series). Kratos is my picture on my profile however.

Kratos is also the Greek god of strength, and that's pretty cool.

Xeno is the name of a 14 foot cyborg in my (planned) novel. It's actually the same novel I wrote the prologue too, but it sorts itself out. :D
Disclaimer: This is not actually Xeno, just to give you an idea.

Leaka is a character from one of my stories.
Or a character I have always created.
    It's pronounce [Lake-a]
I like saying lake with an aw sound at the end.

And in this world I created somehow Leaka means River of the Swarming Souls.:)

Now I feel bad Leaka. I've been pronouncing your name (leek-uh). Like a faucet drip. Don't know if I'll be able to break myself of the habit now.

Mine is just a contraction of my real name. I'll keep the rest to myself tho. :p

My pseudonym is pretty obvious to anyone who has taken high school chemistry. NaCl is the chemical formula for common table salt...the symbol for sodium is Na, and for chlorine is Cl. Together, they for "sodium chloride"...salt.

Why "salt"? My real last name is Sault, a French word meaning rapids in a river. For example, Sault Ste. Marie was named for the "rapids of the Ste. Marie river".

By the way, for all BSG fans, check out season three's "Dirty Hands". The captain of the refinery ship is called Xeno Fenner. :D Told you it was a real name!

NaCl -- I love your story! I'd wondered about your name in the few short days I've been a member here. I knew about people buying votes, but you told it in a very intriguing way. Way cool.

Mercurial is a world in the English language that means, from Merriam-Webster's third definiton: characterized by rapid and unpredictable changeableness of mood.

That's me in a nutshell. I'm constantly changing and fluid, and I dont like limits; it's one of the things I'm very proud of about my personality.

Also, I was born under the sign of the virgin, Virgo, and the planetary ruler happens to be Mercury. I dont give astrology much afterthought, but I check my horoscope a few times a week, just in case. ;)

"The rain, it tumbled down through the,
    cracks in the sky and,
    made my hands grow,
    watch my hands grow."

My name came from Eisley lyrics. I'm inspired by their whimsical songs and feel like their words make MY hands grow.

    I am a "cunning worker". :D

Daedalus -- Greek mythological craftsman. He was so skilled that his images were said to move of their own accord. Neat little name. :D

It's a line from californication (the tv-show). I don't know why but I really like it.

I'm also writing a short story with the phrase as the title, but the ending is giving me problems.

I torrented Rosetta Stone in order to learn German, and I thought, "Oh, haha, I'm getting Rosetta Stoned here."

It had nothing to do with the Tool song.

Which is a shame, as it is quite a good song.

my name comes from a few different things and actually has nothing to do with the candy m&m's  shocking right?! lol

In one of my stories there is a recurring theme of yellow roses hence the yellow (plus I like the color yellow even if it isn't my favorite color :p)
and my initials happen to be MM so I put the two together :) (oh and the one cpaitilized M has no significance, that was an accident ;))

Sure. The "E" stands for "Emily."
