"Bigfoot". I have never believed in the legend. But; one of the most honest, forthright men I have ever known claims to have seen it. The man was a friend who had spent a lifetime in these hills. A doctor who had nothing to gain by saying it. It shook me to the core as he retold it. I still don't but my convictions are not near as solid as they once were.
I generally open all the stories I want to read in new tabs and then go through them for this very reason.
What's become of @OurJud ? It suddenly struck me we haven't heard from him in a while. I checked his posting history and his last post was Oct 12th. Up to that point he was posting every few days, mainly on this thread. I miss his constant curmedgeonly complaining. I've sent him a PM asking how he's doing. Does anybody have his email or something, to contact him outside of the site?
Technically we do but we don’t do that. Members leave, it happens… sometimes they come back sometimes they don’t. Wreybies, minstrel, lifeline, doggiedude etc and so forth Jud said he wasn’t writing anymore so maybe he’s decided to hang out on a forum that fits his interests better
Oh, I didn't mean admin or mods, I meant somebody that knows him on a more personal level. I don't think he's been writing since I joined here three years ago, and yet he liked to stick around to complain about this and that in his inimitable way.
Blonds with big white smiles all look alike to me. So do balding stocky men in the fifty to sixty year old range. It is awkward to not be sure to whom I am speaking when I run across one of them in a store or on the street/
Makes me sad to see my old friends have gone (...as if I've not been a wandering apparition around these here parts). It's like a whole new place these days.
Probably my advanced age, but the reason I don't eat in restaurants as often as I used to is the portions are too big. Order a cheeseburger and fries, and you get a sandwich that's eight inches high with multiple layers of God-know-what and a pile of french fries you could bed cattle in.
"Less" and "fewer". Arrrgh! I dunno why this annoys me so much. LESS money. (non-discrete items) FEWER beans. (discrete items) MORE wine.
The way rice is packaged here in the UK. You buy rice in Asia, it comes in a sack. You use a scoop or cup to scoop out the amount you want. Here, it comes in these little plastic packages filled to the brim, so when you rip the top open, the stuff goes everywhere. You're supposed to decant it into some other container, from which you measure out what you want. I mean, dear god, why?!
Just discovered that an old comedy site I used to read but fell off from for a few years has gone paywall. Content creators need to eat too, but in the past this particular one had managed through (I assume) a combination of the ads on their personal site and whatever they got through syndication. It was a good site, but not good enough to fork over cash for every month. Oh well.
I filled out the contact form on @Lifeline's author page the other day but haven't heard back yet. If she's wrapped up in her MMA and science stuff she may not check it very often.
