This chuffing rain! I know it takes all weathers to make a world go round, but I’m sick and tired of working in all this beastly mud and oomska!
Just type "adblock for ________" and whatever browser you use into google. They don't work if you're using the youtube app on Android or iOs, but for anything desktop they're quite easy, just click and install.
As I was walking into the supermarket yesterday, a woman was coming out pushing one cart and pulling another, both piled high with large packages of toilet paper. The toilet paper area in the store was three-quarters empty. The baby food aisle was fully stocked. So, what? 'We won't worry about the baby having anything to eat, but we gotta have three hundred rolls of toilet paper'. What kind of lives do these people live?
I live in the German hotspot area – where the virus was first discovered spreading freely in the wild. There's not much changed here. No panicking. A lot less traffic and emptier parking lots, which is nice . Well, the procedures at the doctors', mostly with GPs, have changed. My GP wants you to call when you have flu-like symptoms. They only let you into the doctor's practice one person at a time, with supervised hand disinfection, and make you wear a face mask while there (which makes sense. Let's face it, it's where sick people are going, and you don't want them to spew their infectious droplets everywhere infecting other patients, or, heaven forbid, the staff, which needs to be up and running.) They won't let you inside at all if you just pick up some paperwork like a prescription or a specialist's referral. The local administration politicians have quite a good, sensible, science-based approach to handling and informing (I went to school with the local county chief. Not sure if this has anything to do with it. I never liked him much, but he's good at his job.) Went shopping yesterday. The discount supermarket had lots of TP, but not much kitchen roll. The non-discount next door had no TP, but lots of kitchen roll...
The media must be running out of ways to keep the corona virus in the news. The latest ploy is to report on celebrities who have tested positive... as though this is somehow relevant to the situation!

Popular articles with the phrase "according to science" in the title, as if science is some monolithic entity.
Chicago manual of style. Texted. ETA - plus Stack Exchange Grammatically, Cambridge dictionary, Oxford dictionary, in fact the only place I could see from a quick search where there is any confusion is mumsnet...
In German, we say "simsen". From "SMS", short message service. Ich simse, du hast gesimst, wir werden simsen.
As a Chicago (adjacent) native, I can also assure you dat Da Mare sez dares no way dis is gonna happen widout somebody clears it wit my clout. Just so you know.
When subtitles/closed captions (NOT THE SAME) are off, time-wise. I can understand if closed captions run late on live broadcasts. But on scripted TV shows I download, constantly off by the same time all through the episode? Even more WTF when they come early and ruin ALL the punches.
News media run by the principle of FUD – fear, uncertainty, doubt. In particular now with a pandemic which requires clear, clinical, scientific information. What currently grinds my gears is the common narrative of all the trouble this social distancing, school closing, company shutdowns bring with them. Yes, of course it is and will be cumbersome, but no one steps up and points out that the alternative would be far worse.
I wish they’d shut my company down. Ordered to stay away from work on full pay. I’ll have some of that please!!
Ah, but what it doesn’t explain in that clarification is the pronunciation. I’m talking about when people say ‘text-id’. And if that Chicago explanation is claiming that’s also the correct pronunciation then it’s wrong. I’ll concede texted is probably the correct past tense spelling, but I’m talking about the pronunciation.
Getting back into writing but right now I am emotionally exhausted. I do not want any Corona beer or anything Corona right now.
People who leave long, one-star reviews for a product on Amazon and it's a rant about the incompetence of the UPS driver, with nothing about the product itself.
