I've wanted a new traditional watch for some time and I've run into the same issue. Who the heck are these things made for? They're sized to fit proportionally around my ankle, not my wrist. I've got a pair of vintage watches - a Longines and an Omega - that will have to continue to serve as timepieces until watchmakers return to standard human sizes.
I had a nice time at the high school garden last night, but wow the bugs were out in full force like it was May or something.
You’re right. I persevered and while I couldn’t find a nice sized digital (aside from the classic 80s one that every kid in my school had) I did find some sensibly sized analogues. I like this one particularly.
Fitbits are small (the non-Smart watch versions anyway). Besides tracking heart rate and sleep, they also tell the time.
You ever have a day where you're just like "god, I don't have enough melanin for this shit". It's a first-world problem, but I really feel like my ancestors never should have moved here. Especially before the invention of sunscreen. What the hell where they doing?
Sorry about that. Unusually, it's cool and overcast here in Brisie today. It won't last and then I'll be complaining more than you!
Literally laughing out loud at my computer. As for what your ancestors were thinking, if I remember my history...
The problem is most people were doing outdoor work in the early days. So you've got some pale-as-fuck Irish immigrants that just moved to a giant sunbaked island. Where just like "ah yes, my skin is peeling off, that's normal. Just the price we pay for living in the 'lucky country', eh?"
Given the appalling rates of skin cancer down under, this will probably be one of the first items on the agenda for general gene therapy. Now that is going to cause a major ruckus for those types calling for gene purity. Even if they are long deceased, I am sure they will be turning in their graves!
There have been a couple of stretches of cooler weather, but since school started the weather has been mostly beautiful. This last week was almost perfect. A few more warm days and then 50s and maybe colder after that. But geez, we're in the middle of October. 50s are okay.
They would be less happy if it were permanent, and the gene therapy will probably cost a lot more than ten dollars.
If we can dye it green, we can dye it blue or brown, or whatever. Economies of scale may mean that such treatments could cost less than $10 ultimately (possible but unlikely, I think).
