It's clear that the orcs had 1013 soldiers, if the dwarves had 1014 then they could have won on numbers alone. "If placed correctly, a single pebble can move a mountain" - Shun Tsu the art of war (Yes I know the quote is a different guy, that's the joke XD)
Does anyone else get I dunno, anxious when they're encroaching on writing a scene that they're excited about? I know it probably shouldn't faze me at this point, it still gets to me sometimes, but I'm starting to force myself into a 'write it down now and fix it later' mindset. Also earworms are a thing that shouldn't exist, doesn't matter how good a song is or how much I like it, sometimes there's things I'd rather think about instead haha.
Having a ball driving down an empty road, miles of visibility, and there's a crossroads coming up, which is extra cool because the stereo just started blaring Robert Johnson. Roll up on the crossroads and having to slam the brakes because this is the moment some asshole comes in from the right. Out of bloody nowhere. "Oh, you like standin' at the crossroads? Then I'm sure you won't mind me and fifteen of my friends while we exercise our right of way. Slowly."
Please, no more news articles about Banksy. Aren't there any other talentless vandals we could throw money at?
Ah, but ignorance of a talentless vandal is surely more laudable than ignorance of, say, the multiplication table. Oh, well, just can't please some folks.
i wouldn't say he was talentless... and most people who's property he 'defaces' see it considerably increase in value so its debatable whether its really vandalism if the owners welcome it
Being back from vacation Been back in the building for 4 hours and its already been hell. Doesnt mich help when the people who were supposed to take over your duties while you're away decided NOT do do them but to leave me emails instead about what needs to be done... (Or its done poorly and i have to redo it).
@J.T. Woody Been there, hated that. After a vacation you're free, and it's hard to slide back into robot mode. People at work don't like me for the 1st few days after I get back either, especially managers.
I had a week off a few weeks ago. Was gone for 36 hours and then a Covid outbreak shut the restaurant down and everyone got the same week off! Good news was that I didn't have to use my vacation time and got paid anyway through the Covid relief fun. The bad news was, well, losing 5 days worth of revenue, which I fucking needed and now don't have to buy some things I needed.
No, GMail, my Social tab isn't empty. It's chock-a-block full of bullshit advertising from places I've never given my address to.
With great crisis comes great opportunity. Whoever cracks the cypher and gets ahead of the curve of what the next generation of restaurants is going to look like is going to make a fortune. (Spoiler alert... that will be me with a little luck)
I sometimes hear things on the news and I want to scream. I honestly wonder, sometimes, if I’m the only sane one on the planet. They just announced that transport authorities have noted a severe decrease in people wearing masks on trains and buses, but they say it in a tone which suggest it should come as a surprise. Compulsory mask wearing ended months ago, what the fuck did they expect would happen????
There's a woman who works as an English voiceover-caster (I don't know if she's a simultaneous interpreter or just reading from a script) for NHK, the national broadcaster. She should be working for a theme park, everything she says is in this wondering, upbeat tone. Imagine a female version of this (only need to watch a few seconds to program your brain, there's nothing important in the video): reading a script like: A car driven by a man police believe to be intoxicated crashed into a group of schoolchildren this afternoon in Kyoto. Five children were taken to the hospital, where two of them were pronounced dead. The others are in critical condition. All with that same warm smile in her voice.
Auto racing was a lot more interesting before the rules wonks decided to take car designers and builders out of the equation.
on the news this morning, a school super intendent who announced that students would be required to wear masks is now receiving death threats. his kids have been threatened, he was spit on, and he was run off the road. also, where i work, masks for staff members is required (we have one staffer who has an auto immune disorder and cant have the vaccination because of the load of other medications shes on and monthly dialysis she has to do). For guests, its "strongly encouraged, but not required" for the most part, people wear them. even coming in and seeing staff with masks on and asking for a mask to wear. others get mad. even when we explain that THEY dont have to wear them, they still get offended because WE are wearing them. its still a surprise to me how mad people get
