A Sony blu ray player (I’m returning that DVD player). This blu ray player has WiFi and upscaling and apps and shit.
A Tassimo Suny coffee maker (one of those that takes the pod things). Not sure if it’s psychology messing with me, but the cappuccino I just had was perhaps the nicest cup of coffee I’ve ever had. My only complaint is that it only half fills my mug, and it’s a smallish mug already. Spose I could double up, but these pods aren’t the cheapest means of enjoying a coffee.
I bought a new mouse. Oh. My. Goodness. I had no idea how many computer frustrations were due to an elderly mouse.
TV remotes are basically IR flashlights. I found the same thing when I replaced the batteries in mine. Now I don't have to point it directly at the bottom of the set, it's a miracle!
You can point it at your eyes and it will bounce to the TV. Not sure what it does to your eyes, but it doesn't hurt. Or aim it at a mirror or something shiny. Fun times to be had.
A serious pruner for the yard, which could probably take off one of my fingers, but the brand is Fiskars which I associate more with safety scissors from elementary school that could barely cut paper.
Ryzen 5 3600. Gigabyte x570 Aorus Elite. 1x16gb Kingston RAM. She goes fast now. Almost got an NVME drive but they don't really seem worth it yet compared to SSDs.
Shit, I don't know. I could see the driver referring to non volatile memory, since that's what SSDs are; I just thought that the 'express' part explicitly referred to PCIe 4.0 connection. My vague understanding is that non volatile memory express drives use the m.2 interface instead of SATA ports, which means they essentially use a PCIe line (better bandwidth). It's weird because there are m.2 drives that don't use the NVME lines (and similarly motherboards that have m.2 slots which don't have NVME (PCIe 4.0) speeds) and so have different form factors. Edit, pic of m.2 nvme drive: Spoiler: big
Probably be buying this tomorrow. If I’m going to do this I need to stop hoping the perfect one will magically land on my lap and just take the plunge! On top of this I’ll need a half decent monitor, a new chair, and a wheel/stick shift/pedal set up. It will be the most I’ve ever spent in one go! And to think the money I’ll be spending would get me a brand new scooter for getting to work on. I never have been mature enough to prioritise my spending https://www.amazon.co.uk/ADMI-Gaming-PC-2400MHz-Windows/dp/B07YY1QGB8/?_encoding=UTF8&pf_rd_p=d3e6e646-f38e-477b-a97d-6021aabf78b7&pd_rd_wg=TGWZ6&pf_rd_r=VQN3NCMM0BFMXQXX5ZRJ&pd_rd_w=p0Q6r&pd_rd_r=aa939b84-abda-4a0a-af18-16c86ca950de&ref_=pd_aw_di_ci_int_sci_gw_atf_m_1
Not bad for a pre-built mid-range. I currently have an i5 four core classic processor and I'm still able to take on some pretty heavy processing loads even with modern gaming. The six core that has shouldn't have as much of a heat issue, especially with all those fans blowing. I lile the mid-videocard in that too. Decent for under a grand. You may have to put a stick or two more memory depending on what you run due the lower frequency sticks, but they're guarenteed to not have a heat issue. Looks like fun. Hope you can enjoyyour games well! And don't forget to not skimp on a good monitor and keyboard/mouse!
A sign of approval, that’ll do for me! And you mean it won’t come with a keyboard and mouse?? On a more serious note, I genuinely am only interested in the trucking sims. Is a quality keyboard and mouse wholly necessary?
The keyboard depends on the type of keys you like pressing. I like the big chonky keys so I know I'm hitting the key, but many don't. A good mouse is extremelycritical ergonomically to prevent carpaltunal or other wrist related problems. Get one that fits your hand while also fitting your button requirements.
if you get a nice mouse you will thank yourself every time you use it. I’ve had this logitech one for a few years and it’s really good. Very programmable. https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-G502-Performance-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B07GBZ4Q68/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=logitech+g502&qid=1622856819&sprefix=logitech+g50&sr=8-2
I have one much like it. The little slot for your thumb is the best. Mine has a little notch for the ring finger too, which I find unnaturally comfortable. No wrist aches ever anymore.
Wow, that looks tempting. A year and a half of remote work has given me mouse elbow. I've got a pretty decent mouse and learned the exercises to cope with it, but... New tech toys.
Well I buggered up. If I’d ordered that PC yesterday it’d be arriving today. Now delivery isn’t until Tuesday, and of course I won’t be in. Probably a blessing in disguise. I think I should be guided by my hesitation and wait until the desire wears off.
