A blender. Killed my old one a few years ago whilst drunkenly trying to recreate a Blendtec commercial with a crowbar and a spare tire, plus it was a cheap offbrand machine to boot. I want frozen cocktails dammit.
This mood light - it was an impulse buy. Remote controlled with a timer, about 9 different colours. You can have it static, pulsing, switching between colours... maybe it will help me sleep - I can pretend I’m in a far-off magical kingdom instead of this shit-hole we call reality.
I bought a new lap top computer. Been contemplating it for some time, and yesterday just seemed opportune. It's off at the computer guru's house getting set up. Yes, I could probably do it myself, but queens never make bargains and they don't set up their own computers either, so there.
My wife woke up in one of her this-is-happening-like-it-or-not-so-don’t-mess-with-me moods, and now we have a new living room sectional sofa. It came in six boxes, took me forever to put together, and wouldn’t you know it- the instructions were in the last box.
My uncle just found the last surviving book from his childhood encyclopedia and brought it over to show me. From 1954—they definitely don't make 'em like they used to.
I love collecting some old print novels like this when I find them. I'll show you a few I have below. The Chaucer is a textured print from a series circa 1864. The Melville is relatively new at 1977, but still a nice leather bound I couldn't pass up. I have a lot more too. Spoiler: A couple books
That looks like a Private Eye’s desk. “It had been a long day and the broad had played me like the dumb sap I am. I had my paints but the only color I could see that night was black.”
Just got myself a little pal for one of my tanks a couple days ago. Promptly he molted and ate his shell, which was pretty cool. Twenty dollars, so not too bad. Sorry the picture is a little blurry. Spoiler: Longbottom the Lobster
I’m getting the itch to do something in a jar again, maybe a mossarium. My jarrium and terrarium were sacrificed when I moved home back in January.
A new pair of running shoes, because my old ones were knackered and a poor fit, and I had reason to believe they may have been at least partly responsible for some niggles I was feeling that could have become legitimate injuries if they weren't dealt with. Given the fact that I can now do a mile without experiencing said niggles, they probably were at least partly down to the shoes.
A new yoga mat, relatively thin and stiff. I can't believe I have gotten to the point where I need to replace the old one. Not because it's worn out, though it is a worn at the edges, but because my yoga teacher says it's not serving me well in my practice. It's thick and soft, foam rubber essentially. Good, I guess for amateur hour. I chose it because it is soft; but that softness is interfering with some of my postures. This is a new world for me. Namaste.
