Things you wish were in books

Discussion in 'Discussion of Published Works' started by Daemon Wolf, Jul 26, 2015.

It could be something crazy or something you don't see enough in books or whatever you want. Serious or not.

Personally something I'd like is to hear a theme song when I open a book. Now I know it's silly as hell but I'm serious. My favorite show is the X-Files and the most memorable thing (other than Molder of course) is the theme song and I always love hearing it whenever I go to watch a new episode. Now what if that was the same with a book? I sure would read more just to hear a silly neat tune. Just my two cents.

I want to see more pictures.

    maps
    diagrams

Movies have it so easy over books. I can see the setting.
I would like to see the setting in books as well. An artist drawing would go a long ways.

Sassy heroines. I mean yes, there are a lot of strong female lead characters. But so many of them are fighters. They are physically, psychically or magically stronger than the average girl. But what I want to see more of are girls that use their clever minds to fight back. I want them to come up with quips that bring the bad guys down a peg or two. I want them to come up with the strategy for the battle, not just bring their kick-ass magically-enhanced ninja skills into the fight.

Liking the idea of food in books... it's like a multi-media art installation, but tastier. Reminds me of being a kid and buying the comics that had free sweets attached!

I bout an Intel NUC and every time you opened the box, the Intel ditty would play. It drove me barmy, and the LDR was soon dispatched, as was the unit producing the noise.

Be careful what you wish for.

    Electronics.

I realise this will go against most, but I would prefer all books were electronically delivered, and that we devoted less of our trees to entertainment and left them to do things like oh I don't know, produce oxygen so we can remain alive, sequester CO2, keep the planet temperature and climate more stable, simple things like that.

Most of Earth's oxygen comes from algae. To be as precise as possible 70-80% of the oxygen we breath comes from algae/marine plants.

No you're right. We don't need trees. Continue cutting them all down. The kids can climb and swing from and rest under the shade of phytoplankton. Along with all the other biodiversity currently residing in the arborous inhabitants of our very fragile space ship.

Move along. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Secretly I read the Anais Nin in the lavatory. I flick the page, and he climbs from the folio, African ravages me over porcelain. I flush and go to bed.

Or at the very least, use hemp paper instead. It's a renewable resource, grows a whole new crop every year and takes less land.

I agree. Let's leave the trees to grow.

Hemp is amazeballs. To get it introduced into mainstream society via book paper would be brilliant.
