So I'm Charlotte, sometimes called Charlie, sometimes called Spider. Feel free to choose between the latter two, or make up some weird or wacky nickname for me =P I seem to like collecting them. I'm 19, live in Australia, go to university here, and am majoring in English Literature and Writing. I keep pet rats, they make the best pets ever, and breed them so get a little extra cash on the side. I have a serious body mod fascination, with 14 piercings at the last count, and the start of a full back piece tattoo (which is going to take years to finish.) I used to have dreadlocks, shaved them all off for World's greatest Shave and raised $1000 for the charity. I love having no hair, rocks my world. I have written since before I can remember (cliched I know.) Recently I went through some pretty tough times (yay for Doctors putting me on way too many happy pills) and my writing has suffered. I feel like some fundamental part of my creativity has been locked away. I guess you could say I am coming here not only to connect with other writers, to gather feedback, but to also hopefully find the inspiration that tears these great big walls down =P. P.S My favorite food, if you can't tell from the title, is Tofu and Ketchup Sandwiches
Hello and welcome to the forum Charlie. I have a major tattoo fascination, none myself as yet, but wanting badly for a cobra tat round my leg and up round my waist. Who knows aye?! Anyways, I hope you have a great time here with all of us and look forward to seeing you around the boards. Btw: What genre do you write? I always like to ask that question... good to have yet another aussie about the place too. tor
Welcome to the forums Glad to see you've decided to join and I hope that you get over your creativity problems soon, I can most definitely relate.
Hello Charlotte, Welcome to the Writing Forums. I'm afraid your favorite food made me shudder. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
I totally envy you for having dreadlocks. I've always thought they were so cool and wanted to get them done, but then having to shave off most of my hair when I wanted to remove them kind of worried me, haha. TOFU ROCKS! Welcome to the forums, Charlotte!
Hey all, thank you for the nice welcomes - sorry it took me so long to reply, real life caught up with me yet again. But I promise, you shall be seeing a lot more of me around the forums from now on. As for what genre I write, pretty much anything. I've written a short story set in the weeks coming up to the end of the world, I write a lot of poetry - some of it quite emo, some of it turning out okay. I have been known to dabble in fantasy and sci-fi, and at the moment I am writing a mix of horro and supernatural (all about vampires and all because my partner reckons I can't wwrite a scary vampire story lol =P)
Hi Charlotte, welcome! I love your name, but I'm a bit partial! You share a name with my 2 month old daughter...though we call her Charley, not Charlie! Glad to have you here!
Tofu and ketchup sandwiches do not sound too good, but that's just sound, I don't know about taste. I hope with new connections you can unlock you're imprisoned creativity. Tattoos are awesome, and so is charity.
