Shall we talk of the second transformation of alien plant to humanoid? Because I have plenty of ideas to go around on that idea... Although the main problem is due to the location of the alien-plant in question... It's on another planet completely (not Earth)
Don't know many shapeshifters (aside from obvious ones like Mystique and Animorphs) but my tip for transformations is this: it needs a purpose, if it doesn't need to be in the story chances are readers are gonna get mad if you bring it up and don't use it for anything cool. Second thing I can say about it, know your audience. Writing a Shonen type story will have different details focused on than a sci fi body horror. (unless of course you're writing a shonen that IS a sci fi body horror...in which case uh...good luck?) I'm not particularly good at transformations either which is why I tend to not go into uber detail about what's going on.
