Let's say that you entered a sweepstakes contest for a travel company. Even though you didn't really expect to win (no one really does in these kinds of things) by a stroke of good fortune, you do. Now, the great thing about this particular sweepstakes program is that you get to go anywhere in the world that you desire, the choice of destination is yours, for two weeks. Where would you want to visit or travel to? Also, what kind of experiences and adventures do you have in mind? Also, feel free to share any travel experiences that you have had in the past...
Hmm, I would definitely want to go to Des Moines, Iowa. Not the most exciting place on earth, I guess, but there's just a certain person I'd like to visit who lives there. Besides that, I'm not sure what country I'd like to see... there are so many beautiful places! I'd like to go to the mountains somewhere. Never done that yet, but all pictures I see look so amazing. I wouldn't do any dangerous climbing, though, I don't want to die yet! The only places I've been to (I live in Belgium) are Holland, France, Portugal and Spain. Not even Germany, hehe.
There are so many places I want to visit. Africa and/or India for the elephants and a load of other places that are too many to remember. More lakes and mountains kinda places I think because I loved Italy. The only places I've been to so far are France, Spain, Italy and Boston, America. I live in England but I've also been to Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Isle of Wight and Jersey.
This is a hard question to answer, because I'm torn between my favorite place I've ever been and the place I've never been that I'm most keen to visit. My favorite place in the world is Vancouver Island, and, I suppose, coastal British Columbia generally. I know it pretty well, having lived in Victoria for five years and having sailed around the islands a fair bit, and I would love more than anything else to have the financial ability to move back there. I love the scenery, the people, the climate, everything. But I've never been to New Zealand, and I'd love to go. I spent four months in Australia once, and that's a great place, but I'd love to go to New Zealand. I'd also love to go to Britain and Ireland, because I love the Celtic music and the beer and the whiskey. And the history. I'm a transplanted Canadian, and I've been all across Canada (except Newfoundland), and I've been all over the United States. I've also been to several parts of Mexico, and I've spent six months in Japan. But I've never been to Europe, nor any other part of Asia, and I've never been to South America. I'd love to go everywhere, though.
Antarctica. Because the other continents still left on my list are easy to check off, but this one... not so much so.
You forgot to include Las Vegas, Nevada. I would probably choose to go to Denmark. My husband's family is Danish, and he's always really wanted to go there, so I would surprise him with a trip.
I'm saving up/planning a trip to Australia, new Zealand, and Fiji in a year and a half... If I could win that trip for free, that'd be awesome so far I've been to a few very cool places, including Ireland, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Belize, Canada, and all over the USA (including Hawaii). I also really want to see Germany, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Argentina, Japan... List goes on. Love to travel
Id go to Lebanon becuase that's where my parents are from and where up until last year I lived for 8 years...just have so many people I care about back there so two weeks there would be awesome
I would like to go to Spain. Spanish is one of my majors, and I really like the modern culture of Spain and the influences that are still present from ages ago... There are so many beautiful places I'd love to visit --including the Spanish-owned island of Ibiza, as well, which I would like to visit as well.
I second the Antarctica trip And Pachacuti's private estate Machu Picchu. and of course Las Vegas so a certain badger can teach me to derby, hehe
We've got a men's derby league starting up today, too, so you could skate with them after I taught you.
Oh man sounds like trouble, wearing spandex sounds tempting though, haha. On topic, I would definitely like to explore angkor wat, the nazca lines, and natural phenoms like Air's Rock and California's red wood forest.
I have been to Las Vegas. I spent six months in Las Vegas, working on a job there. I HATE HATE HATE Las Vegas. I have nightmares about the heat, the desert, the sheer WORK, the constant BLINGCHINGCHING of the casinos, the paper-thin attempts to win you over with noise and sex and garishness. Las Vegas is a hellhole. I never want to spend another second there. Sorry about that. I see the name Las Vegas and my brain flips into hate mode. Put me on a sailboat in the Georgia Strait, heading north past Salt Spring Island sometime in June, and I'm a happy man.
Lol I've been to Vegas twice and loved it. I didn't have to live there though. Only there for four days both times.
I would find it so hard to choose! Honestly, if your given scenario happened, I would probably go to Portland, Oregon, because my friend lives there and I haven't seen him for six years. However, if it was more of a "where in the world do you want to visit" thing, I would probably say Italy. Venice, maybe.
Well Las Vegas hates you, too! Just kidding. Honestly, I totally agree with you. With the exception of the desert and the heat, which I'm used to, I can't stand it here... This. When we first moved here, my friends were all blown away that I didn't love it. But spending an extended period of time here is far different than coming here on vacation.
Having traveled a fair bit, I'd say New Zealand is the best place I've been to. It's truly amazing..... the scenery is breathtaking - beautiful moutains and aqua blue glacial lakes, deserted beaches, lovely pastoral countryside. The people are very friendly, the population is quite small (especially on the south island), and it's safe. The perfect place to buy an old car and go explore. Second and third I would say Cuba and Mexico. Cuba because it's so different - you get a taste of what life would be like if the Soviets had come out on top. Mexico is wonderful too, but sadly is getting more dangerous.....
having been to so many places in the world already, i'd probably pick one of the hardest of all to get to, where i have a mentee i'm particularly fond of whose been wanting me to visit his incredibly beautiful land--bhutan...
I lived there for six years. It is beautiful, and people keep telling me I'm crazy to have returned to the UK, but... real life isn't a holiday. To answer the question, I'd love to return to Italy. I loved Canada. There are several European 'staple' cities I haven't seen yet - Paris, Barcelona etc.
Many posters here seem to have a good chunk of change in their piggy banks. When I think of travel, I usually only conceive of relatively cheap locations because of the budget concerns. When you go to a first world destination, or even a relatively well-off developing country, the checking account gets chopped down fairly quickly. How do you fellas manage?
If I could go anywhere, without any financial limitations, I would choose Japan. I'd like to do my first week in Tokyo, and then my second week seeing some more rural, traditional parts of Japan. Oh, and I'd love to visit Kyoto (I think that's how it spelt), where there used to be a big traditional Geisha district. I know you don't get to properely understand a different culture from two weeks on holiday, but it would be so interesting to try. I've been to a couple of cool places already, but I am really keen to add to the list. I've been to the Chamonix Valley in France, Geneva in Switzerland for the day, Aosta in Italy, Disneyland Florida, and New Zealand for two months. I've also been to Scotland and Wales several times, and Cornwall/Devon area on camping trips, which were cool
