True Detective has a lot of lovecraftian type horror going on. I actually just bought the king in yellow. a show I'm looking forward to this year is Penny Dreadful
True Detective is certainly pulling in the plaudits. I saw one chap who placed in the same category as Breaking Bad, The Wire & The Sopranos! I mean damn man, it's good but you're a bit premature with that one!
I would place The Wire above both of those shows. It's not even close for me. The Wire's greatest strength is that it provides excellent and accurate social commentary (especially season 4), which the other two don't really do.
This show on NatGeo that is about border crossings cracks me up. I'm amazed all the thought that drug traffickers use in coming up with different ways to smuggle drugs from Mexico.
That line from Rust though to that abusive mom: "First chance you get you should kill yourself." That's some Arctic Circle level coldness right there!
I finished Breaking Bad about a few month ago on Netflix. What a series! Worth the hype. I'm just also been watching Shield, watched up to season 6 (season 7 not on netflix ) good series too. I'll probably check out True Detective after season 1 is done. I hate waiting a whole week to catch the next episode.
I wrote about that at WhatCulture. http://whatculture.com/tv/5-new-characters-wed-like-see-heroes-returns.php Cheap plug, heh.
Good job! I actually don't think I saw the end of the series. I think the last episode I saw was when the politician grabbed his brother and flew up into the sky before he exploded and killed a bunch of people. I guess that killed the politician though.
Ha! That was the season 1 finale. There were only about 54 more episodes after that! Oh and the politician didn't die, c'mon man this is US TV we're talking about here.
The problem was my off days switched and I worked third shift. Sometimes I would catch up on NBC.com but I got out of the loop.
The Wire is such a slow-burner of a show. Really top quality. I still rate The Sopranos above it though for pure, unadulterated entertainment
Yeah, I never got into Pokemon AT ALL. I think it was actually responsible for the American Housing Crisis, which was part of a destabilizing of Western Economies, allowing Asia to place itself as the current economic epicenter. Totally blame it on Pokemon.
I thought that was Ren and Stimpy. Pokemon was the one that caused global warming, if I remember correctly. I could have been wrong - I don't watch cartoons.
I'm watching this gem show, and these guys were going to get paid for an emerald PLUS and extra $150,000 for it as long as it was 10 carats. They found it for $60,000 and when the guy was cutting it, it shattered! Dud that's a $210,000 loss!
