Five months after the series finale of The Legend of Korra, I think I'm finally going to get around to watching it. Why did I wait this long? A number of reasons, chiefly because I didn't want to say good-bye to this awesome series yet. Guess I'm ready now.

    Watched it. A few thoughts:

+ Mako, just because Bolin worked for Kuvira doesn't mean he knows the entire layout of the colossus. You know he told you he had no idea this was even around, remember?

+ Su's awfully forgiving of Baatar, Jr. I would've kicked him out of the family and will after all he did. Maybe give what was due to him to Mako and Bolin. Maybe Tenzin?

+ Prince Wu was hilarious. Did he get his dance lessons from Kuzco of The Emperor's New Groove?

+ Sato's death. OK, I know he was feeling guilty for everything he did, but he could've just ejected himself along with Asami before he go stomped on. It felt kind of jarring to have him die and then have fake-out 'OMG Lin and Su are dead!' and 'OMG Mako dead!'

+ I knew, or at least suspecting Korra and Asami had something going on. Yes, I was a Korrsami shipper.

+ The action sequences were very awesome to watch.

A few thoughts on a few of my favourite shows at the moment:

Person of Interest is amazing and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes action. Starts off as your basic procedural series but basically evolves into a fully blown SciFi epic with Season 3 being one of the greatest seasons of any show, possibly ever. So many great characters, some great soundtracks, and the best bad guys on TV. Well worth a watch.
Justified. Recently wrapped up its sixth and sadly final season with one of the best endings to a TV show that I've seen. What a fantastic modern-western series with some of the best dialogue that you'll see on TV, quite possibly ever, and has some amazing cast in the likes of Timothy Olyphant and Walton Goggins.
The Americans. Recently concluded Season 3. Fantastic cold-war spy drama that follows two Russian Undercover Agents in America living in a family where their own kids don't know that they're spies. Great espionage drama with some fantastic acting from Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell and is one of my favourite shows on TV.
The 100. I never thought I'd say this in the first few episodes but it's become arguably one of the finest shows on TV and the next Battlestar Galactica in Season 2. Full of awesome strong female characters, some great cast (particularly among the older actors), and it isn't afraid to put its main cast through horrific situations that most other shows would shy away from (Something on the scale of GOT's Red Wedding is committed in Season 2's finale by the good guys, and not just the good guys, the main character). If you're put off by it at the beginning then it will certainly pay-off further down the line. So damn good.

I was sooo put off by the beginning. Rolled my eyes so hard I thought they'd fall off my head! It's like every character had woken up that morning and decided to be at their most annoying, lol. But I do love stories where characters are put through the grinder, so maybe I should give it another shot. :)

I'm currently watching Les Revenants. Not only am I slightly surprised I kind of understand what the people are saying, but also, it's a damn fine show. I especially like the characters. Most shows have me groaning within the first few minutes "oh you dumbass!" but this has got me captivated. The plot it slightly predictable, but it has kept me comfortably guessing. The acting is superb and the characters/actors look like real people. There's something about European productions that feels real-er. I guss everyone's a bit uglier, a little less sleek, less airbrushed. :D

Internet content streamers' original series have been dominating my viewing lately. Daredevil on Netflix and Bosch on Amazon. Both quite good.

Can't stand it when some ignorant made for TV movie gets the 60s wrong. Clearly the writers were never there. Great music and a plot so stupid I had to turn it off.

@GingerCoffee I was cringing at the scene in the car when Duchovny left under the pretext of finding a phone so they could inform the guy of his rights, only to come back and make the lame joke about the radio. It felt anachronistic as it went out of its way to emphasise that it was the '60s...Oh look! No cell phones. Not the best way to go about immersing the viewer in the time and place.

You watched further in than I did. I turned it off at the opening party scene. There's no way any of the Manson following started out at a party where the girl was all, "don't touch my thigh" to the guy who brought her, then he gets pulled into a room by a woman taking his pants off. Do the writers have no clue what sex was like with teens and young adults in LA in the 60s? That movie version was more like my Father's ignorant beliefs about what it was like, not the experience the Manson girls would have had.

I saw some of the girls with the x's on their foreheads, by the way, at the visitor lobby at LA County Jail. I was visiting my incarcerated boyfriend. It was interesting. At the time I knew little about them all so I can't say which of his followers it was, but they were definitely little Manson x's. :)

I persevered until the end but won't be watching it again. The soundtrack was bangin' but even so fell into a lot of the typical musical tropes, 'White Rabbit' blaring to labour the point of drug use at the party, 'Paint it Black' as a backdrop for protest.

I've been watching Wayward Pines too but I can't say I'm enjoying it. I can see it going the route of Lost where the writers just seem to be making it up as they go along. It feels very contrived and I can't see me keeping up with it.

I'm looking forward to Hannibal starting again. Then there's Mr Robot which, despite the crappy title, friends who've watched the leaked pilot assure me it'll be worth taking a look at. Time will tell, but I'm hoping it'll be engaging as there is a dearth of decent shows around right now.

Found a fun new TV series on the weather channel: 3 Scientists Walk into a Bar.

Better than Myth Busters, I got tired of their overdone excitement blowing stuff up. They weren't convincing that they were having that much fun and it annoyed me.

Right now on the 3 Scientists they just tested the time between a lightning flash and the thunder. In other words, when you see lightning and count the seconds until you hear the thunder, how far away is the storm cloud per second of separation?

Give your answer before you look, no cheating. ;)
Turns out the difference represents 5 seconds per mile, not one mile per one second which is the common belief. So if you count 5 seconds, the lightning struck about a mile away.
I was wrong, now I know though.

Edited to correct the mistake I had made in the spoiler. :bigoops:

Re Aquarius, I tried to give it another go. The relationship drama was so over the top I still didn't get past the first few minutes.

I also tried iZombie again and there just wasn't anything interesting enough to hold my attention. I wanted to like it, really I did. :(

Okay, so, I watch way too much television. Here are my thoughts on four of my current favorites and why you may like them. I won't bombard you with all my favorite tv shows.

Doctor Who - It is my favorite television show and it keeps getting better. Yes, it has it's flaws but every show does. If you like time travel, space, aliens, and getting emotional invested in a tv show, then give it a watch.

The 100 - Merlin mentioned this one already. I finished both seasons in record time. I could not stop watching it. I highly recommend this show. The actors are very talented and I've become a huge fan of Eliza Taylor who plays the protagonist. The only thing that bothered me was how the adults are often portrayed as dumb.

Orphan Black - This show is amazing. Clones, crazy science, and strong female characters, oh my! Tatiana Maslany has become my favorite female actress. She plays each clone and makes them so different you often forget that it is one person playing them all! I cannot give this show enough praise. It is in the middle of it's third season.

Hannibal - Okay, so if you don't like gore or suspense then this show may not be for you. I hate this show but I love this show. I hate it because it makes me nervous. I find myself hugging my pillow and screaming at the television every time an episode comes on. I love this show because it really grips you. You want to know how each episode is going to end. You want Will Graham to catch Hannibal. This show is crazy, but in a good way. The third season recently premiered on NBC.

I've watched almost every episode of Orphan Black by now, and I'm starting to think this must be some weird inferior clone of the show 'cause it still hasn't impressed me. It's actually quite laden with clichés, bad writing, exposition, and characters who don't seem to develop, exist, or have a single thought outside the frame which would allow them to make plans and smart decisions. Allison feels like a Weeds rip-off, Helena is what TV caricatures with PTSD tend to be (plus the whole crazy Russian thing... not redeemed by her being Ukrainian), Sarah is supposed to be a rebel but I can't imagine her hang out with Misfits characters (young British delinquents) without getting horribly pranked, and Cosima (for the longest time I thought her name is spelled Kaseema) is what we wish scientists were like but at least when I go to the microbiology department of my local university, no one's that hip and cool there. My sister-in-law has a PhD in microbiology, actually, and, afaik, her autopsy skills aren't quite as mad as Cosima's and her girlfriend's...

But I do think the lead actress is really good. Especially as Allison, who's my favorite :D.

I guess my expectations were too high. If I hadn't heard of the show at all beforehand, I may have ended up liking it more.

My husband and I love Anthony Bourdain. We have been watching Parts Unknown and will even go back and watch re-runs of No Reservations or The Layover.
Zane Lamprey is another fave. Drinking Made Easy, Three Sheets and Chug. If it's food or drink, we're there.

We also love Game of Thrones, Vikings and Penny Dreadful.

I watch Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D, Grimm, Flash and Arrow. Older stuff I loved: Firefly, Farscape, X-Files, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Dresden Files to name a few.

This critique is valid, but those issues are easily overlooked for the bigger picture: a unique plot, enough intrigue to overlook the flaws, and a talented actress and script writing to accept that the clones are all different characters.

    Recent viewing habits:

My favourite TV shows right now are Game of Thrones and Agents of SHIELD. Enough praise has already been thrown out about them so I won't reiterate. Needless to say, they are worth watching.

I watched the first seasons of Legends and Z Nation and enjoyed them both. Legends is at the point where depending on where season two goes, it could be really good or really bad; I'm hoping the former. I thought I wasn't going to like Z Nation because of the influx of zombie shows but it was refreshing and I'm intrigued by DJ Quall's character - and after the season end cliffhanger, I am both curious and stumped as to what is going to happen.

I started watching The 100 and 12 Monkeys but I'm slowly losing interest in them. I'll try and finish the first seasons at least.

I'm a little late to the party but I watched the first episode of Falling Skies and it's peaked my interest to keep watching. Seems like it could be really good after a few more episodes.

I'm also excited for Heroes: Reborn, as I was a huge Heroes fan back in the day (even through the bad times) and I feel like Heroes was slowly getting better when it was cancelled. This won't be the same, with the biggest characters gone, but we still get to see some of the old gang like Hiro, HRG, Matt and Angela.

Hannibal is back, hooray! Best show I've seen in years. I've only just got round to finishing True Detective (anticlimatic much?) and now working my way through American Horror Story Freak Show. So far it is extremely zzzZZzz.

Shit, I love Game of Thrones but it constantly punishes me for it, especially with that awesome but heartwrenching finale. Treat 'em mean, keep 'em keen, I guess.

Season six feels like forever away. :(

I'm ready for Game of Thrones to give me closure and end. I've had enough of women being raped and debased and killed and constantly being shown nude. (And seriously, what was with that Dorne girl's line about being a bad pussycat? *gags*) Characters die and get further and further away from each other. I don't see any of this wrapping up in a satisfying way.

Which is probably why I didn't like the finale so much. Too many cheap cliffhangers. I mean seriously a large number of characters were put in life or death situations where their fates are going to be quickly revealed in the premier. It largely felt cheap.

That and now I got to wait forever just to see TV Jon's fate... Bad enough I gotta wait forever and a day for the book version.

Aren't they balancing that out with male nudity, mutilation, and murder at all? o_O

I won't watch GoT until I'm back to writing medieval fantasy, so I've been "saving" the show to binge-watch it later.

No male character was threatened with rape and even if you want to argue that the torture was spread evenly around, that doesn't stop it from being icky and gratuitous (i.e. Theon's torture which these guys found unnecessary long). At this point, it isn't even shocking anymore, just depressing. I used to ignore a lot of this for the storyline but after what happened to Sansa this season, and the way she was robbed of her agency when she was finally developing as a character, I stopped caring. I want it to be over. I'm only watching because I've already invested so much time into this series.
