I don't think so, but I'm not 100 percent certain. Wentworth rocks. It's on Netflix. I can't take my eyes off it.
Prisoner Cell Block H was a really cheesy 80s Aussie soap about a woman’s prison which gained a cult following over here in the UK. I’m sure the prison in that was called Wentworth.
Not sure, but I'm watching it now. The actress who play Governor Ferguson is very skilled. She's a real freak.
I stopped watching that one when all the new seasons stopped coming out. Used to enjoy the premise, though. And the comedy. I’m currently watching Nine Perfect Strangers and I’ve only just started, I’m on episode one. It already seems like a very creepy show and Nicole Kidman who produced and performs in it role-plays a very strange and unusual lady. It’s about nine perfect strangers who all sign in to a getaway spa.. but all is not as it seems. It’s got a very attractive cast, besides Nicole Kidman. It’s based on the book by Liane Moriarty. If creepy is your type of thing, I recommend.
I've been watching Only Murders in the Building. I think it's really good. Martin Short and Steven Martin are great of course; I was surprised to see Selena Gomez (I think the last time I saw her in anything was Wizards of Waverly Place for God's sake), but she's a fine actress. It's quite a well-written show.
It is. I just looked it up. Seems it’s a pre-cursor to the show I’m talking about. As a punishment for watching such rubbish, I sentence you to three-month’s hard-watching of the original. Shit show, but man what a closing credits song! And no, I’m not being sarcastic.
Recently downloaded the Crunchyroll app, so I’m revisiting some anime series. Enjoying Goblin Slayer at the moment. Also just finished White Lotus, a bit f’ed up but worth watching. Looking forward to a second season of this anthology.
No, I’m not saying it’s the same show. It’s an updated version of the original, detailing the early lives of the older inmates. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wentworth_(TV_series)
I was hesitant to start it. I’ve been told it’s based off a Stephen King short story, and mini-series adaptations of his can be extremely hit-or-miss.
I've been into some historical action lately. The Last Kingdom, Vikings, and one that has a bit of fantasy in it; Britannia. Pretty good shows with bits violent melee. HBO's Rome is very good as well, as is a newer TV series Spartacus. There is so much to see, read, write, and do!
Katla is pretty good. Icelandic mystery supernatural sort of show. Really full of emotional tension, if that's interesting to you.
Among the Stars, on Disney+. It's a perfectly fine docu-series about a couple of expeditions to the ISS...if you're even a passing space nerd you won't learn much new, but they tell the story in an entertaining enough way. Very feel-good vibes and not much real drama, as I suppose is required for a Disney product. What's really interesting about it, though, is COVID. The whole thing (except for a few flashbacks) is taking place in the last months of 2019 and the first months of 2020...and the world is still normal, and everyone's just walking around not talking about or reacting to COVID. And they keep talking about things in their near future--an astronaut discussing his launch scheduled for April 2020, for instance, and the whole time I'm on the edge of my seat, thinking about how much the world will change by then. Anyway, by the end COVID does happen, but it's not really a major plot point. I suppose the aforementioned need to manufacture feel-good vibes means that it can't be. Still, whatever they intended it's an interesting effect.
I just watched a new episode of Dexter. It's quite good. I've also been watching American Crime Story. Very good.
Kingdom, on Netflix. The Korean period-piece-political-thriller-zombie-horror show I didn't know I was missing. Really if literally any of those words appeals to you I highly recommend it.
Kingdom was great, very much a one-of-a-kind production. Hoping for a third season soon. I try to spend less time on shows and more time being productive, but some pretty good ones I've watched recently are Squid Game and Arcane. The former did a great job of getting me hooked, and it only started to flag a bit towards the end. Good performances by the cast. Tense all the way through, with a surprising amount of warmth, charm, and humor for such a violent premise. There's some damn good stuff out of Korea. Now, Arcane, being based on a video game, I didn't expect much from. Well, it was good. It's probably great, but with only 3/9 episodes out so far I'll reserve judgement. It's gorgeous and slick, and I was surprised at the raw emotional punch they managed in places.
Kinda surprised there isn't a thread devoted to it. Pretty well written, as is the spinoff, Young Sheldon. (Kinda have the hots for Annie Potts too, but that's O.T.) Part of the reason I like the show is that I identify with a couple of the characters. When younger I was a compsosit of Howard and Raj. I have also worked as an engineer most of my life, and sometimes get a kick out of the things they get wrong, knowing it's usually done for valid comic reasons. I could talk to women sober, but couldn't ask them out without a couple in me. The results were the similar.
Just finished watching an episode of the American version of Ghosts. I've seen most of them, and this was by far the funniest. Reminds me of another show that had transatlantic versions. After seeing quite a few episodes of the American version of The Office, I finally saw an Episode of the British version, where I recognized one of the actors other than Gervais. The Dwight Schrute counter part was played by the guy, I don't know his name, but he was the Pirate of the Caribbean that kept losing his eye.
